Those people don't matter! They're going to buy it either way! Can you point out a real issue with that poll, or are you just trying to avoid what it really means? Go suck this egg dgeesio, the subreddit is far more active than this forum.

First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
dsi24 replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How would you fix third person that would stop people from exploiting it and also not make third person horrible to use? Invisible people popping up in the middle of your screen? Locking the camera so you can't even look at your entire character? Forcing perspectives so you get ripped out of perspective when you change stance? That system is still incredibly exploitable, it basically does nothing except change the animations for swinging your view around in third person from "head swinging around in place 3 meters away from the door" to "upper body swinging around in place 3 meters away from the door" -
The only people who advocate for a compromise have never actually tried to deal with exploiting third person before. Everything you can do just makes the game janky, like invisible people popping up on your screen, or makes the third person camera shitty to use, like being locked to certain perspectives. It's infeasible to both fix third person and have third person be worthy of staying in the game, so cut to the chase and just remove it.

You're confounding realism and authenticity. Realism is being, well, realistic; The same as real life. Authenticity is being similar to or very reminiscent of reality; Worthy of accepting as reality, even if it technically isn't real. Third person is neither realistic nor authentic. An invisible camera is impossible. The abilities third person gives you are in no way like real life. First person is much more realistic, and is authentic. While you're actually seeing from the location of your eyes, a screen can never act like eyes, the edges of your FoV aren't blurred nor do they lack color like the way we see in reality. It is authentic because it forces players to act in a similar way to real life. -
I'd really like to see a poll set up like this: Would you buy DayZ SA if it was First Person Only (No third person at all) Yes No Would you buy DayZ SA if it was Third Person Only (No first person at all) Yes No The responses would be very interesting, especially those who would say "But I use first person too!"

Ok this forum has the worst text editor I've ever used, the code only version isn't actually just using my code and is adding its own shit :/ Maybe my text won't get quote marks here??? TPV doesn't increase or decrease KoS/Carebears. It polarizes the game to the point where its DM vs Never Fight. Think about it: TPV allows you to have perfect ambushes, it makes killing easy. It also allows you to have perfect observation, it makes being safe easy. Of course, since third person is asymmetric in how it gives information the carebears get the short end of the stick, they can't tell when a perfect ambush is waiting for them, even with perfect observation. And so third person creates two distinct groups, those who treat the game like glorified DM and those who treat the game like its single-player vs zombies. With FPV only, DM would be less common because you can never guarantee getting a kill, an observant enough player could spot your ambush or a better CQB player could beat your door camp with a good entry. Both of which are impossible to do in a TPV-allowed environment because perfect observation can never see perfect invisibility, but perfect observation (like sitting beside a door looking outside with TPV) sure as hell can see anyone approaching. Loners would be forced to interact with other players because they could accidentally run into someone since they lack perfect observation. -

Time for your pagely dose of hard facts, numbers, and logic. You can't ignore it forever :) "If most of the community who maybe thought DayZ was cool a year ago and now they think it's lame, I think that's probably good for us. We don't need to sell that many copies to break-even. We want to be a hardcore game and I think if we make a good game people will come back." When you release something, you are not aware of all the exploit that would come. And if you don't fix that, game become lame as it is now. And to make people come back, 1st person is right step in that direction. I've learned, that on this forum you need to go into details of the detiles. Even if people know what you want to say, or you lack of englis knowledge to explain so well, they will still dig in to right there, where you didn't explain enough, even if that was self explaining. TL;DR Hi there 3rdy. Don't read that. -

Ooh that's a good one! The videos that started it all, that attracted all these people to what is apparently a third person game... were all filmed in first person... only in first person. -

This is a key thing that people digging around for compromise (a hilarious word, third person players know they can't compromise because compromise means they can't exploit) are missing. All the effort required to stop third person from being shit for the game but still existing in some form? Why bother? It's much easier to cut it out and work on things that actually matter. -
Do you play on first or third person servers?
dsi24 replied to Wayze's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Come on guys this is really basic shit. If you want to complain about FoV: Realize that 2x Numpad - will fix it, you can also change it in the CFG if you're willing to deal with a small consistent change to your magnified scopes. If you want to complain about motion sickness: Realize that turning off post proc and headbob will fix it (as with every other game ever) If you want to complain about lack of awareness: Realize that freelook and increased FoV will fix it. If you want to complain about not being able to see your clothes: Realize that freelook and the gear menu paperdoll will fix it. It's really annoying to see shit that's been left behind for a week at this point, buried by facts, brought back up because third person players are resorting to digging up old lines. -

Throwing the bullshit flag on the field here, thirdperson gets rid of the unknown, getting rid of fear. If you're going to argue for third person, be consistent, don't say things that don't make sense. If you find it hard to say things that make sense, maybe you need to rethink your position. -

So your argument is that, because third person makes the game so easy, we're all wrong about it because we've used it before? No, we use it, and because we've used it, we understand that it's bad for the game. It's funny, literally everywhere there's massive support for first person only. On Reddit, here, even on the video that triggered this all. All the evidence is there to support that people who like third person are in the minority, and the majority are just people who deal with it. -

It's really interesting how these people respond when faced with hard numbers. Remind me why multiple polls from multiple sources that say the exact same thing aren't real again? Remind me why 1st person servers falling into disuse as people fall back into the easymode servers "somehow doesn't fit together"? Poll any forum for any FPS about third person, every single time you'll get a majority "fuck no". But apparently DayZ, a game where you shoot people in first person, isn't an FPS? Remind me why that's true? Everyone knows what third person is doing to this game, yet some crazies are hanging onto it for dear life. It's utter insanity, that's the only term for it. -

Yeah, choice is good, that's why all those 100 helicopters|spawn with weapons and food servers are awesome for the game, right? TBH I think its selfish that you people want to keep any and all PvP action down in the gutters because you want to stare at your character's ass/cheat. There are almost no first person servers left for DayZ because third person makes the game so easy. -
Is DayZ a hardcore survival simulator?
dsi24 replied to Fonebook's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah instead they nerfed it for the WoW kiddies who want to watch their character's ass run across a field. -

Yeah, too bad when people have choice they choose the easiest thing. So 3rd person has to go, it's easily exploitable and those easy exploits make the game easymode. -

Just got done playing on a 1st person only ArmA3 Altis server. Most intense firefights ever since you couldn't exploit third person to see where everyone around you was, you had to actually look and risk giving up your own position. Being shot at by someone in DayZ is never that terrifying, you just hide and enter third person and look for muzzle flashes. -

dsi24 replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Gee, it's good to know there exists very specific situations where 3rd person isn't easily exploited. Oh wait, it's still easily exploited in 90% of situations so it still needs to go. Almost forgot for a second there. -

I'd just like to drop this here, this is what happens when third person gets added to a game post release. That's nearing 2000 posts of "Why the fuck are you people doing this?" Look at the arguments just on the first page, hell just the #3 post. Everything that needs to be said about why 3rd person can't coexist with 1st person, right there. For a totally different game that has only one thing in common with DayZ: it has a PvP aspect. Third person ruins PvP. -

dsi24 replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah you could rein in third person, but what's the point of going through all that effort when you can much more easily remove it without any negative effects? IDK about you but I'd rather play DayZ SA before 2020. But Ken, the right view is always third person. You can use it to see through walls and objects, and when you need to shoot you just tap a button and you're in already aiming down the sights. Third person is too easy to exploit for it to stay. (PS: I love how third person players are discounting every single poll that proves them wrong, the level of denial is absolutely hilarious) -

I love this poll. Certainly gives credence to the claim that most people deal with third person servers because that's the only thing they know. On a side note, I wonder if those 24 people would be clamoring for 3rd person if we never had it... -

He has a solution for the hardest exploit (but people will just stop using prone), but nothing for the most common one, using it to see through a door/hole you're about to go in.
