This just happened to me and a friend after we lost connection. We spawned back in, me first, when he spawned back in he was unconscious on the ground. He survived, but the big pile of loot we were sorting out disappeared when he got back up :/

God the "ITS AN ALPHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" apologizers/whiners are going to lead to the ruin of this game... just like BF3... Collecting wood is an absolutely terrible mechanic, Chenarus is filled with old forests that would have plenty of kindle (dead twigs, bark, etc) laying around that even an idiot like the aforementioned whiners could figure out how to light up with matches. Give matches a usage limit if you want to limit fires. Though collecting kindle to fuel a fire could be interesting, starting a fire should only cost a match (and maybe a small part of the "kindle collection area" that is forests could disappear)

ArmAII uses your operating system's username by default, go to profiles on the main menu to make a new one. (I assume this makes a new char for DayZ but I haven't done it myself)

Maybe once you don't choose your exact location, just an area? You'd spawn in a 2km radius or so around the point you click on for example.

Dat Gameplay [Realistic features that don't sacrifice fun]
dsi24 replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think there should be a single fully working car spawning anywhere, maybe some cars that don't need much to fix them up though. (Needs tire changes & fuel etc) I haven't found a car yet so IDK how badly they're damaged or how varied the damage is yet. -
What's your favorite playstyle/occupation?

Exploring loner. I had just snuck into the NW Airfield a couple days ago, but then the DB got reset or something and I'm back at the coast :( Was going to head to the major dam next after a quick stop at the end of the main road... -
No' date=' it's not, because it's a game. It will always have certain limitations that keep it from being completely realistic, and it's not unreasonable to have certain features in place that counterbalance these limitations. The bandit system was far from perfect, but it was better to have [i']something like it rather than have zero incentive to not wantonly murder, because that's not realistic either. Here's a disincentive for you: Players who murder everyone they see eventually get word of mouth going against them. Much more realistic and not easily exploitable or broken like the derpy bandit system.

The only people who thought bandit skins were a good idea were brown nosers and carebears. And maybe a few of the smarter PvPers who wanted to exploit loopholes in game logic/player psychology.

Player numbers not gonna go down, why not drop the patch?

I'm not really sure how the OP can be disappointed in DayZ. If he wants to he could roll with whatever ArmA2 group he belongs to and roll over absolutely everyone in DayZ, teamwork is still key, even if (and especially because) you can't trust everyone.

STMovement should be included with the mod by default. IIRC that mod's developer works for BIS now so it shouldn't be too hard for Rocket and him to work something out

Remove the pseudo-dynamic weather script

I seriously suggest you learn to play. I could go into a tirade on how terrible this suggestion is but my first sentence sums it up nicely. -
Make rain automatically fill water bottle.
dsi24 replied to night_chrono's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A bit of an overarching idea that would allow for more free-form construction of wilderness survival stuff: Instead of finding pre-made objects (or only pre-made objects) like tents, wire, etc, find plastic sheets (I imagine a construction site would be great for this) that you can then construct into whatever. For example, if you have a plastic sheet and an empty bottle, you can make a raincatcher. (that you then set down, in the rain or to wait for rain, and come back to later for a filled bottle) -
I really like this idea, as long as it's well implemented. Realistic durability (I think I remember hearing most weapons can fire 1000+ rounds before needing serious maintenance) for each would make it something to keep an eye on, but not overtly gamey/cheap feeling. That general figure would also make semi's more desirable in the long term than autos of course. Also, weapons should only jam, totally breaking is kind of dumb.

Anyone else like night-time better?
dsi24 replied to clevelandtyler2's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Night-time is exhilarating, player-player interactions are much more tense and more common due to the usage of light sources. (though I personally only need a chemlight for moving inside buildings so IDK) Zombies are more terrifying because you may not see them if they aren't sky-lined or otherwise silhouetted against, but its balanced out by their lack of sight. As a person who loves stealth/sneaking games I can't get enough of the night gameplay as it is right now, sneaking by player or zombie groupings, wandering through town and running for cover when a flare lights up down the street, etc. It's just high-tension fun. -
- Game purchase only. F2P is broken in 99.9% of cases, a subscription model could work if the servers were much(much) more massive though. - Community developed. In my experience as a player, community created games are much more open to feedback and evolve much more rapidly. -Both types of servers. Community servers could run their own maps and/or their own customization, studio servers would be uniform allowing players to hop on any server and have the same experience. - Kickstarter. Probably isn't required but would be a nice boost on-top of the influx of ArmA2 sales.

Yes, scrap them, pushing players towards certain roles without their consent is terrible design. Besides that, having 'roles' in general is an affront to the potential for this game to be as free-form as Eve or anything else in that vein. Maybe allow players to rate other players in some way?
