It's now been over 8 hours since my server went online, and people can still not connect to it. That's after going into my third day of waiting for it to come online at all. The ticket I created over 6 hours ago (#459449) about this has yet to receive any response, too. C'mon guys.. I want to like you and all but you need to meet me halfway! -

I'm seeing the exact same thing Sad Clown posted up at the top of this page. Thirty minutes ago, I actually saw the server in the CP.. even though it didn't seem to really be running. -

The server now shows a status of running, but it's not shown in the server browser nor can the "service status" section of the control panel connect to it. I'm quite impressed with the control panel, though. Edit: Nevermind, the game server suddenly got removed from my control panel and I can't see the server listed there at all now. Sigh, I thought it was finally ready. -

The server shows as active in my service sheet on their site, and I can log into the control panel now; HOWEVER, I still cannot start it. It says "error" for the status and won't boot. So, by the sounds of things it could be any minute now. -

Can you p lease look into my ticket, #2193037724? It's been two days now. I was told in my ticket it'd be up yesterday, or early today at the very latest.. it wasn't. All I'm asking for is an update. -
That's true. If there were a real apocalypse, I'm sure we'd all be flying around in our private helicopters. I know I would! I assume you're not referring to the crash sites as they seem unchanged to me.

I'm not sure if you read the actual post in detail? Given the structure it would be extremely easy to partition the database to reduce table size. If their server uses any decent caching at all, it's almost a non-issue regardless.

Ticket #933133. I ordered a server a couple of days ago, I was told it would be online yesterday or early this morning at the very latest and.. nope. It's now been several hours with no update. I'm starting to lose patience here. I've ordered custom-built dedicated servers from other hosts many times which were up in a matter of hours.. this is the worst setup time I've experienced yet, and it's a managed SHARED server?! -

I fear the game might fall apart without a change like this for the reason I described there. In the end I think we need this as a server option. So server could opt in to be local only, not global characters, while the majority of servers would default to how they are now. -
First, this idea doesn't change the persistence of the character. You guys should go look up the definition of the word. My point is, if you don't mind those waits to get on a server, like me, you COULD opt in to play on such a server while the majority are still linked. For me, the current state of the game is quite broken. Take last night for example: myself and two friends were in the "factory" and a car pulled up with four people. We shot 3 of them and two died right away. The third was bleeding and instantly logged out so we couldn't get him (we see this probably 5+ times a day). The fourth logged out, come into our building on another server, logged back in and shot us in the backs. THAT IS GAME BREAKING. This is the only way to prevent that. Why fortify a position now? Why have a base, and why defend what you own when someone can teleport inside out of your control.

Given the feedback, what do you all think about this being a server option? So by default characters would be hive-wide but some could opt in to have characters on that server be local to that server only.

Surely there must be more opinion on this? I really think it would change the game drastically, and for the better. To me it seems to be just what the game needs.

When you and your friends develop to a certain point in this game, there's not much more left to do but to fight. Banditry can be fun, but not very rewarding when you don't need any gear they could possibly have. Your collection grows and grows, and next thing you know you have enough to outfit an entire army spread in camps all over the server. Whether you're at that point already or not, we'd love to have you against us. Drop by US 559 (forums at www.lowgaming.com/forums) if you're looking for somewhere to build your army. I'd love to find groups willing to battle it out. I envision giving each other attack slots (ie: "we're going to attack your base tomorrow between 6PM and 8PM") and fight it out for vehicles and any equipment you can carry back. Anyone interested in this sort of thing, drop by the server and its forums.. I long for competent enemies! :)

It's a totally different game with a different atmosphere. The persistence is what makes DayZ what it is. Attacking fortified positions is fun, and I'd love to do more of it. Remember, if you lose you lose everything on your corpses and, if you were defending, what's in the base. If you win, it's just that much more sweet.

Umm, separate issues with separate solutions, completely unrelated.. not sure why I see you bringing them up here. The ranting thread is <-- that way. As for it being persistent, well it would still be persistant. It's no different than say any MMO where your character is available on certain servers.

A few days ago I had a run in with some hackers, as you'll see in this short video: After falling and logging out, I logged in again not knowing where I am and was unconscious for what would have been at least 6+ hours (the hour glass wasn't moving AT ALL). I desperately posted on the forums pleeding for help and giving nothing but a screenshot from my view, looking off into some trees with not much else on the screen. Fortunately a couple of medics contacted me and spoke to me on Skype. They spent THREE HOURS (really, three hours) tracking me down based off a screenshot with nothing on it. They found me, epi-penned me and gave me a transfusion. I tried to give them guns and equipment: they turned down M14s, Mk48s and more. If anyone deserves to be on your white-list, it's these guys, Izaya (forum name Pkstormx) and wood377. -

Maybe try adding -connect=ServerIP:Port to your command line, if you know it? -
I was on NY7 when the admins wanted to summon everyone to one spot, 50 feet above the ground. While I heard all the legs around me breaking and watched over 50 people die (frapsed it too, will upload tonight) somehow I survived with a broken leg. I quickly logged off and logged on to a new server before they could finish me off. Now the weird part happens. I have the hour glass on my screen but it's not moving down at all and I can't interact with anything. I have 5k blood, I'm NOT bleeding, and I have my gun in my hands. I'm not looking up into the sky, it looks like I'm prone. WTF? Problem is I can't suicide or anything since in this mode you can't hit esc. So, what now? I really don't want to lose my M14 because of an immature admin, either. Edit: Uploaded a screenshot. Anyone know where this is? Maybe I could get some help.. I happen to have an epipen in my backpack. Also ignore that it shows me bleeding. When I relogged I was no longer bleeding, but the situation is the same.

Pretty sure you can't actually die from starvation, only get very low blood. :(

When I was killing he admin in his helicopter, before he summoned us all into the air, I was in the deerstand just east of Polana. Could it be near there? I think from there I'd be seeing the town in middle of my screen, based on the angle of the road. I'm uploading the video now which shows a little more of the area but still not much to go on.
