So it loaded quite slowly for 7/40 players, however its going dark so not sure if needs reboot. No lag and only one red disconnecting chain though! Much better than overcrowded multiplay servers where its constantly losing connection. What server spec is it? cpu, ram and port speed please!

Going to have a try and see what the performance is like. Yet again linux trumps windows. Did you get performance increase spreading it over 4 cores? as under windows it only uses 2 cores ? Also have you tried hyperthreading under linux ?

Trying to find a good deal on a dedi just for running DayZ mod, seen many clans running multiple instances on the same server meaning that spare RAM is scarce or when they have 50 users per instance the server gets clogged up and needs rebooting/endless "waiting for character to create" sequences etc. I dont want this... I prefer to have excess power and not need it than the other way round. I am only looking to run 2 instances and this seems to be the best deal I have found so far. I was ideally looking for an HP system, you know, the ones that run 4 cpu's with 6 cores per cpu but cant seem to find any. What do you think of this spec? £600 per month... I already have a normal web host with them and they have been awesome in both uptime and customer service, so I dont mind paying extra for that piece of mind. What do you think?

Ok. Another option is I build a pc similair to my spec, 2500k etc, overclock it and then colocate it. But i read somewhere that desktop/gaming machines suffer from low I/O speeds? Is this the case with socket 1155 and better? I specced a system up for £1500 that includes a pair of those SSD PCI cards that pull 900mbit/s, surely its not going to be a problem?

oh and the fix for this is to change your config files to this: In server.cfg set this verifySignatures = 2; This puts more load on your server however, so if its stressed already then it will be more stressed checking for v2 signatures.

Whilst devs might not like the Lingor map, atleast the dev of Lingor did it properly: he put all his plants and trees (including arma2 originals) into objects.pbo and then made the whole lingor map reliant on objects.pbo. Therefore if you delete it you cannot play the game. It would be very simple to make chernarus.pbo reliant on all the plant, building and rock files. Remember its alpha and rocket knows what hes doing, im sure things like this will be fixed in beta :)

I am looking at the datacentre option now, primarily because my business uses a server and I could actually host that there too and it would work out much cheaper. Unfortunatly though struggling to figure out who is decent for colo on a 1gbit port with 30tb+ a month. Any ideas how many instances of dayz i could run on the following specs? Bit confused, been playing on a private hive server and theres no decent guns spawning, raided the NWAF and NEAF and BALOTA and Elektro so far and there was nothing in either other than an ak74 and an mp5 and a lee enfield. Also NO tents at all anywhere on the map (i ran round the edges misty hill etc), and no crashed choppers. Yet all the clan members have M107's etc. Are they likely to be spawned in, or can you edit the hive to change what guns players have? Does this mean that the clan who owns the server will always have awesome firepower and you wont, and even if you kill them and loot them they can just change your weapons or even kill you remotely?

How do you work that out? I havent given the server name so I cant be advertising, I play on rockets hive daily, but with this annoying backpack glitch where it eats my main gun and replaces it (just lost an l85 + as50 and now have an as50 and an m107...useless) its getting annoying and im waiting for it to be fixed. JESUS.

I wasnt an admin, i was in another clan and infiltrated your clan. Rocket encourages meta gaming and thats exactly what I did.
