Servers will have options.... First person only and others for both. Play what you want.... problem solved

POLL : Should DayZ be only 1st person or 1st + 3rd person view
erocean replied to RespawnCake's topic in General Discussion
I don't understand why you are interested? There will be both 1st person only and/or 1st&3rd person servers.... Choose what you want and don't worry about the others, seems logical to me lol. -
How can we make a players life more important than his gear?
erocean replied to knawx's topic in General Discussion
I have read through almost all these posts I think and there are tons of ideas "I think" that they could use, build onto or implement into the game. However there is one thing that will never change in these types of games. Call them tryhards, KOS players whatever it may be... but I play with currently, have played with in Dayz mod/wasteland/Warz players that have 1 simple goal in mind: Go kill as many players as they can. They don't care if its a axe, pistol or full equiped player they have or what they have in their inventory, when they see an enemy its go time. Sorry but there is nothing you will ever be able to implement into these games that will pull these types of players away from this activity (I have been one in the mod/Warz). It is simply the "mentality" of the player that they will not be able to wean them away. The "turbin" in the mod was a great feature... bugged at it was. It was a clear notification that this player was not to be trusted. The fact that it "went away" after they died was some what good and bad at the same time. It gave them a chance to play this character different... maybe be nice this time around instead of being labeled as a bad guy for the rest of the time. However it also gave them camouflage to hide amongst the others. I would like to see something like this returning, either give them a few masks or some kind of head gear to choose from but they "MUST" have one of the bandit identified ones on at all times. (Problems this may cause) - It glorifies killing players to get the mask or so called trophy, but in all honestly killers are gonna kill with or without it. Give them their "trophy" and this will atleast give the players a clear heads up (this dude is bad news). Things that would have to be in the game though.... -Good guy killing a bandit player: There should be no consequence for any other player killing a bandit player on site. He chose his path and therefore made himself a target. Players should be able to KOS to make sure they stay alive without it counting against their humanity level. - Fresh Spawns: People are going to keep killing them no matter what is implented, so these kills should not count toward their "banditry or humanity level" and made even should count as a negative for their goal of becoming a bandit causing it to take them longer to get their trophy. That may discourage them from killing fresh spawns... I doubt it though. - Good guys: Players that help other randoms should also have some kind of trophy. Facial Hair growing longer (everyone seems to like the beard idea for other things), or getting some kind of a identification on their mask/helmet or gear letting players know that this guy has not just been killing people on site, he can actually be trusted. Will some of these things help cut out banditry? Maybe... maybe not because as I stated it does not matter WHAT they attempt to do... the guys I know and play with will continue killing everything they can for fun. However it may cut down the percentage of it happening if you can do it right. Penalizing players because the KOS though is not a fix it is their choice to play that way, but you have to be careful not to glorify it at the same time. Lots of good ideas are coming from the community so hopefully they can figure out something to go with... but in anything like this is however brings the "Realism feeling" that everyone wants so you have to kind of find a happy medium. For me, I am happy with whatever as long as it doesn't penalize anyone for playing how they want. It's fine the way it is now as well just throwing ideas out. I kill when I want, I handcuff and steal if I choose or I let them live if I am feeling happy... sometimes they don't even know I am watching them. -
Imbalanced connecting mechanic or bad luck?
erocean replied to cell141's topic in General Discussion
I'd say not to random since you were spawning on the coast, where other people spawn as well. He probably just spawned in not to long before you and got lucky finding a weapon. Just unlucky on your part -
lmfao... no thanks

I GOT IT! Implement taking a dump as part of the game.... "must be alive for so long before you can take a dump" then add a counter to your screen, longer you live the more dumps you can take. The amount of shits given on this idea... could be record breaking! -

eventually I am sure we will have tents, hidey holes and cars back. This is where you can/will store your extra gear, people can find your "storage" and steal it all yes... but thats the risk you take. Right now, none of that is in the game yet but I am sure will be coming back very soon. -

KOS will never go away, period. I am fine with that, but I do like the idea of something that could cut down on some of it.... "maybe" -

Careful? I just said I love the beard idea.... the rest of the comment had nothing to do with that. -

I LOVE THE BEARD IDEA.... I would feel more manly :D I do love this idea or the thought of the idea, as long as the "traits" don't come with making someone be able to aim better, shoot more accurate or anything that is game breaking or OP it could work. Great thought though for sure. -
Well, I got that "first time I tried the mod" feeling again.

unless I looted that area at the wrong times the last 15 times I was there right off the water (Used to be a small medical camp) you won't find much there. Maybe it was just my luck or whatever but I never found much there. Now across the way in the military barracks I found plenty though. The huge badass apartments are generally a waste of time right now, takes forever to loot every single room and right now not a ton spawn up there. Best bet.... get some food and move ya ass up north, its rough living down South on the coast. -
I'm of the Opinion that KoS will be shorted sight and wasteful....
erocean replied to dustylion@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
lol all these explinations of why/how people should or should not play, bandits and KOS players or survivers all alike trying to explain to another why its ok and not ok to play this way and that way are making me chuckle. Who cares...... play how you want and shut up, quit trying to make some false statement of how you play when simply you enjoy killing players and that's what your going to do or you simply just want to survive. I kill when I want, I help when I want, I play nice if I choose... and a few times I have was hiding like a school girl. Your choice no one elses, just play the game and stop wasting your time trying to "explain" yourselves to others because no one really cares. -
If your waiting on some kind of sale I would say you will be waiting awhile... the game is brand new and will only get more expensive as it goes through Beta/Full Release. Unless you want to wait FOREVER, you are not going to get it any cheaper than now, for a long long time. its a whole $30, people spend that on nothing anymore.... why would you not just spend the $30?

you have steam? click buy, Success! If you have already bought it... load the game, click join server or just double click!

long as I don't start doing the macarena while dancing to that damn Gangnam Style song again... I am happy

ya, food/water I am sure will be worked out. As it is right now... you can bearly go town to town without being thirsty or hunger. I love the fact that you have to plan out trips and such with food/water resources but its a little to high right now. I am sure in time they will have it at a happy/medium with most players. I thought I read some place that "half" the servers are night the other half are day atleast thats what it seems on the US servers for me. Some of them are night, some are day no matter what time it is for me in my current location. Have you checked all the servers in your area?

I think you are just joking to "save face" over the internet... :O

Like the idea... I would much rather have them fix the gamma setting though. Very annoying that people can change it and see
-
I know this is a ways out and does not matter at this time but this is something I mentioned back in the mod and people liked the idea. Vehicle Tarps/camouflage netting that we could use to hide things under something like this so we can use it to hide a vehicle under or a tent under inside the tree line. Making this or even a camouflage netting lean to or something would be nice, you could lean up against a tree or house and then put your tent or vehicle underneath. This would help hide certain items would be a great feature when the time comes! Another thing I really liked the idea of, was crafting peddle bikes out of materials that could be found. The crafting in this game looks like it could be very useful and complex so I would think this is not way out of the realm of possible. Cars should be hard to find, hard to maintain, hard to fix and even harder to keep and most use them for storage anyways or with bigger groups. However bikes would be great for travel when lone wolfing it or running with 1 buddy. Nothing fancy but easy transportation if you have the set requirement of tools and parts to create. Just a few ideas... maybe will spark something, maybe not! Thanks

Hey guys, Tons of my community members where asking me what I thought of Dayz so far, instead of answering a million questions I decided to go ahead and give them a brief view of what I thought initially of the game. Obvisouly everyone's opinions are going to different but I figured this may help some people that haven't decided to buy into Standalone yet or not. Many appreciated the review from both myself and another member of my community that never played much Dayz or Arma so if you like LONG bits of information or others opinions... feel free to look. I have been adding things as I run into them and others are putting up their opionions but here is the original one from myself to my community. Enjoy! Original below: I played last night from about 6pm - 11pm stopping for dinner and to help around the house but for the most part I got atleast 5 hours into it. I may not be the best one to give a review because I am a huge dayz fanboy but here is what I thought so far imho. EDIT: I moved this final thought to the top since I am sure most of you won't read all this and are only looking for one thing: DO I THINK YOU SHOULD BUY IT? NO... unless you are a fan boy as I am I would say you will probably just get mad and not play it anyhow... then piss and moan because I cost you $30 for a game that is in Alpha state. At which point you will tell others on our forums about how bad you think the game is and I will just have to tell you to shut up. SO to save all of that... and me hurting your feelings, just wait. The PVP try hards from Dayz Mod and Warz... you are not going to like this game right now. EDIT: I am changing my BUY IT to yes. The reason I changed my answer to yes, I forgot that the game price will go up in Beta Release and Full Release. If you truly think you might play it in the future Purchase it now for cheap, then just sit on it until its finished to save your money. Now if you are patient, looking for something different and want the feeling back we had in the dayz mod of "trying to survive" I think you will get it here. Cthru hated Dayz mod, Arma II controls and Warz as well yet last night he was talking good things about it. Game as a total in current state: 6.5/10 There are tons of things you could take away from the game... good or bad, I will make sure to list some of my favorites likes/dislikes below. Small things I am not really going to harp on much because as I stated before, I would have been completely fine with the mod all over again with less lag, better fps, less hackers, better zombies and fix some of the glitches fixed. General Things: Controls: People are complaining about how hard it was to target things on the ground.... if you see something on the ground get close, hit tab and your inventory pops up on the screen. Things on the ground are on the left, your stuff on the right. Drag, drop... done. Getting your mouse in that "perfect" sweet spot is a pain in the ass don't even screw with it. Use the tab feature its 200x better.Opening Doors: Used to be a pain in the rear... run up scroll your mouse wheel up and down until you find that sweet spot then click enter or your action key to open. Now if you just run up to the door you can scroll wheel down and either hit "F" or "Middle mouse" and it will open it. Very VERY easy, the only thing that is still a bit difficult is getting loot off dead bodies, you still have to find that sweet spot from what I have noticed. That is annoying. Likes that stood out: Night time: Dark, pretty creepy, scared myself a few times going around a corner running into a player with my flashlight and loved to have that feeling back. After awhile you just get used to it and didn't bother you.Inventory System: Some people hate it, I am not sure why I love the drag/drop featureNew Game Feeling: Sure its the same map and some people are not liking that, but there has not been one map yet that I have enjoyed more than Chenarus. It brought me back to the old map feeling but LOADS of new stuff, even got lost a few times because things have changed tons.Looting: I know not everything in the game yet is in there, but I felt like I was scavenging to just stay alive.. once you get rolling with some stuff and can store away food I am sure that won't be the case but there were 2 times I was about to starve to death.Graphics: They look 10x better than the original Dayz mod, blow Warz out of the water. Anyone says different, they are dumb.... periodFPS: I was getting at times around 80 FPS running through the woods and in some small towns... it did however drop to 30-40 in cities like Electro/Chenarus which I hope they can optimize better in the future but I have never touched above 30 fps in the Dayz mod.... and 60s was average in Wasteland if it was a fresh server restart.Interaction with others: I ran into multiple people yesterday, few groups of players, lots of lone wolfs. Few sang to me, others tried to bash my head in with a pipe wrench and another group of guys running around with no pants on tried to get me to take mine off. I dropped my wrench as they asked but when they told me to drop my bag and pants, I was almost dead so I said "I am not homo and do not plan on squealing like a piggy so I flipped them off in game ... and they shot me for my sins :/, It was funny however.PVP: This will change I am sure and more things are added to the game, or things get more balanced but every time I engaged into PVP last night was a pretty big risk... and most of the time I can away with an injury, bleeding or died a few times. Melee combat is no longer a 1 shot kill with an axe, depending on the weapon you have and how damaged it is will definetly will make you have to decide if you want to actually attempt to fight. They are definitely trying to steer people away from engaging in PVP every single time.... unless running with a group, it could cost you your life even if you win the fight. How to drink: The old Wells that were in about every city are still there... you can drink directly from them (this is kick ass) and then you can also fill up any water bottles that you have, also from Rivers/Lakes you run across as well.Rotten Food: I would suggest not eating unless you are going to pass out.. Hawk and I lived on some for awhile so after he left I continued to do the same thing. Apparently we were just getting lucky, because every time you eat rotten food you have a "chance" of getting sick. Happened to me once last night and I was not able to get myself healthy again. Finally passed out and I can assume a zombie was close because I was eaten. DISLIKES Not sure what to call this: Moving around inside buildings can be difficult, they put tons of things in the way, chairs on the ground, tables knocked over, cabinets open and such to make it feel more "realistic" I assume. However, moving around these things are difficult sometimes and can be a pain in the ass. Lets just say.... there is no longer full sprinting into a building and back out within seconds if not loot to go to the next room. Now you must actually look around some.Food/Drink: Currently you actually have to work at staying alive, until you can build a stock pile (I haven't yet because I have to keep eating/drinking so much) then maybe it won't be such a pain. This also could be avoided if I wasn't sprinting around so much maybe LOL... even then though it still felt like we were burning through food/water quickly.Zombies: They are pretty dumb so unless you are just being dumb you should be fine. Unless they up the difficultly in these.. they will only be there to annoy people again. HOWEVER, if you shoot tons and stay in that area you will quickly be sorry. Think of it as walking dead style... slow, stupid and not real scary if your 1v1 or 1v2. However if multiple start closing in your best shot is to haul ass. I got trapped in a building after a fire fight last night with another group of people, had to waste all remaining ammo to just get out . I think they plan on adding TONS more zombies in the future though... so this will counter how easy it is at the current time, or atleast I hope they do.In game settings: They confirmed some of them are not working... mouse acceleration (off) is one of them that currently does nothing. There is a YOUTUBE VIDEO linked there to help with Mouse Smoothing and to better some FPS.Unconscious State: When getting knocked out, you cannot see anything, hear anything just a black screen that says your Unconscious. Sometimes it takes 10 seconds... I found another that took nearly 2 minutes (passed out from dehydration)... hopefully we can "learn" what causes what and how long you are out for because right now it seems a bit random? Maybe health level and other things have input into how that act but I am not sure.Bleeding: Sometimes you cannot tell you are bleeding (small wounds), so if you aren't watching for it or checking your tab menu you may miss it.I will probably add more to this list as I think of it! no lies there.... hard to stop any of them :D

haha I enjoy reading all these... My first 5 encounters were all friendly, one person had a can opener no food, I had 3 things of food so we swapped, ate and traveled to Cherno together. Didn't see him after... all the others people either waved and I had a few single Christmas Carols to me via Direct Chat. The first Dangerous encounter was the best of all though.... I had just died up in the NW Airfield from falling off a roof because I messed up on and missed clicking "climb down" on ladder and feel to my death. Oh well my buddy got all my stuff and I was about to head back up there. I was running across the Airstrip in Balota and I heard "HEY YOU WITH THE BACK PACK AND WRENCH STOP RIGHT THERE". I did as asked, I had nothing really so really didn't care and was interested in seeing what they were going to say/do. Then as they approached me from inside the barracks they all had white mask on, with black shirts, geared to the teeth and none of them had pants on. (Oh great... here we go I thought), so they told me to drop my weapon and lay down. I did as they told me to.. one came over and picked the weapon up, then they told me to drop my back pack so they could "take what they wanted" so I did. Then one of them with a very odd voice (maybe from the South) said "drop your pants, now!" At this point.... I was like screw it they are either going to kill me or leave me with nothing so I said "Screw you man, I am not dropping my pants so you can attempt to make me squeal like a pig" and proceeded to flip them off in game. Apparently the guy from the (deep south) took offense to my Piggy remark and he walked up at me... pointed the gun at my head and pulled the trigger. I laughed, then realized I was recording so I was slightly mad... respawned and headed North again. It was pretty funny!

h3retic, yes I understand its Alpha as stated every where in my post. I was trying to give a detailed summary to "my community" on my thoughts because that would be the determining factor of them purchasing the game and what is happening at this very moment. They understand it will change but that doesn't matter... they wanted to know how/what I thought at this moment. I changed just a few settings in the game (Still running graphics on default) I am doing fairly well inside cities. Last night I was still seeing 30-40 in Zel (not as big though as Chern/Electro) and 70-80s out in smaller towns and forest. I by no means have a alien super charged PC... standard by todays accounts so some changes here and there in game helped tons.. As you stated its Alpha and I am sure it will get better optimized as we go. Some people found this to be helpful. (THIS IS NOT MY VIDEO NOR HAVE I TRIED IT YET) but I have heard it works Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sxtCFr_bWc
