Ways to get NVGs, ranked by likelihood of getting what you want: 1. Kill somebody who has them. I've gotten the majority of my NVGs this way. 2. Loot a vehicle or tent where somebody has stashed them. There will probably be more than one set in there since duping is a popular DayZ sidequest. I've gotten a couple this way. 3. Be the first to scavenge a downed helicopter. I've never found any this way but supposedly down helicopters have them in their loot table. 4. Loot military barracks at NWAF. I've probably hit both of these over 100 times and never seen NVGs. I've gotten a camo svd once in all those trips, but no NVGs.

I don't think we should get rid of high end weapons. I do think we should get rid of any rifle that is a 1-hit kill anywhere on the body other than the head. Sometimes you need to sacrifice realism for gameplay, and 1-hit kill non-headshots are really bad for gameplay.

That wasn't a ban. It was a kick, an automated kick by battleye. I get that on regular basis, sometimes when logging in, sometimes when just running around, sometimes when picking items up. It started happening after I was killed the first time by a hacker who teleported me somewhere off the ground about 100m and the fall killed me. I'm running a vanilla install too, only thing I changed manually was FoV. Battleye is junk, kicks innocent players who aren't doing anything while hackers are running thunderdome whenever they feel like it or killing the entire server and battleye just smiles at them. EDIT* It may be due to the gear you were given, which was obviously spawned in by a hacker. I looted an mp5sd off an ATV I found parked out in the woods, perhaps it was hacker spawn as well and is why I'm getting the #55 errors? I'll probably ditch it in a day or two once I get fully geared and we'll see if the problems go away. -

People have already done it, pay more attention next time you're in the server browser. You might see some server names that would lead you to the logical conclusion that those servers aren't connected to the hive.

Even if you do find one there is a good chance it'll disappear sometime between the killing and the looting of the meat. Killed 5 animals today, managed to pull meat off of only two of them before they disappeared.

It would be more impressive if he was teaching people how not to dupe accidentally. Let's be serious here, you don't even have to try to dupe, it happens just fine through normal gameplay. -

Doesn't matter if we get it, matters if the person choosing the engine/game to make a mod on gets it. If DayZ were a house the foundation would be built on quicksand. The fact that ArmaII/Battleye is horrible at cheat prevention is just an excuse. Saying it doesn't suddenly make all the cheating OK. Saying it doesn't make anything better, indeed it makes it worse since we can't really expect things to get significantly better while DayZ is on top of ArmaII. -
NVGs and rangefinder on some guy I shot in the back of the head with an M9 SD at the NWAF barracks. I bet from now on he faces the door whenever he is looting something. Found a tent with 7 m4a1 cco SDs in it and 30 stanag SD rounds. Somebody was doing a bit of duping, methinks. Found an ATV fully repaired and chock full of weapons/food/ammo/tools.

You made me laugh. The current patch was tested on multiple servers for hours. Do you really expect me to believe that none of those players set foot anywhere near Stary, NWAF, Berezhino, etc.? There is at least one reason for the hold-up, I'm sure, but your suggestion isn't it. I'd put my money on them waiting for the next update to battleye/arma2 beta and/or an as yet unnamed feature addition to the patch.

People making mountains out of molehills when the mod already has plenty of mountains to deal with. I've got news for you: Things need to be better for server admins, not worse, that is if you want servers to actually play on. -

Always some idiot who thinks that something that worked on some configurations will work for every configuration. Guess this time it is you? There are plenty of people for whom none of the "fixes" work, either temporarily or permanently. People who didn't have these issues until the latest dayz/arma2 beta patch. ...which means they're not the ones who need to sort it out, cupcake. -

Last time they updated the patch_notes that problem hadn't been fixed. Most everything else planned had. One minor ammo thing. Most likely it is the graphics fix holding it up. -

Actually that was a different bug with the same visual effect. Before 1.7.2.4 the problem was with user-placed barbed wire. That appears to have been fixed---at least on my PC---and the problem is now with static dead soldier models. Whatever they're doing that messes up these models they need to stop doing. Put this one to bed already.
