Anyone else feel like stable branch is becoming pointless/neglected?
Bororm replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I really don't mean to come across as "RUghhh stop delaying my patches" I am just legitimately starting to feel like there's becoming a lack of purpose to stable. When I say experimental is itself stable, I mean it's about as stable as the stable branch is. You can experience crashes and pretty gnarly bugs and character wipes in stable as well, so what's the difference really. I understand the purpose of testing out a patch with a smaller population to nail out the more dominant issues before releasing to the larger public, but what I'm saying is that maybe they should go back to that 1 week gap or 2 if they have to, but set some sort of hard goal. Because as it stands, patches/fixes are piling up on experimental that are just pushing stable farther and farther back. Another thing that just lends credence to my opinion that stable is being a bit neglected is that when people bring up issues about crashes or being unable to even play their character etc, Rocket has personally responded by telling them "oh that's fixed on experimental, just go play experimental." So again, I'm not saying either branch is pointless, I'm just saying stable feels very neglected and I think they should regain focus on treating it as part of their alpha which it is. -
I'm hoping for an old timey looking telescope to go with the current compass too.

I feel like they fucked up the dispersion/accuracy on the magnum with this last patch, anyone else notice the same? It feels almost as bad as the fnx was now. I mean maybe it was always this bad, but it felt a lot more accurate before. The distance Grouping And closer Distance Grouping

Since the patch that changed ballistics, guns are a lot weaker now. It takes 3-4 mosin body shots to kill a geared player, point blank blasts from shotguns don't even knock a guy out, takes a hefty amount of sks shots etc. Most players are knocked out before they are killed now as well, having to empty a number of extra rounds into them just to finish them off. I think the game was a lot more interesting when guns were deadlier, now it feels more like the mod or possibly even weaker, where everyone is a bullet sponge. Anyone else noticing this?

I see this in the patch notes: - Systems: Damage was being equally applied to all objects inside inventory slot when shot/damaged (now items reduce the damage when they take damage)
-
Can anyone confirm if this is actually a thing because it would make sense as to what I've experienced, and it was something mentioned early on (before the SA actually launched). It seems entirely possible that with the addition of ruining all your shit when getting shot in the latest patch, this made it in as well.
-
There was a point where Rocket mentioned that bullets damaging stuff in the inventory would also alter the end damage of the round itself. I wonder if that made its way in with the recent damage to gear thing. If that's the case it could be directly related to how much crap you have in your inventory.
-
It's possible but it's happening to multiple people in my group.
-
I'll admit that I don't so much mind that aspect of it, but I'm just saying it to lend credence to the fact that guns are weaker now.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

This game isn't here to hold your hand, figure out who the good guys and bad guys are on your own. -
How to zero in with mosin when bolting takes eye off target?
Bororm replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
Totally awesome, completely irrelevant story in regards to what the OP is talking about guy. -
Log in unconcious, respawn in ocean, dead. Loop.
Bororm replied to lol2k345's topic in General Discussion
Did he have broken bones? This happened to my buddy, he was able to move for about 5 seconds each spawn until getting the death screen again, but with a greyed out respawn button. He eventually swam to shore. That is your best bet if you're able to move at all. With the server hopping timer though it'd going to take you a while depending how far out you are. -

Bororm replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
The bold part is a thing you can turn on, it's called aiming deadzone or something along those lines. Or it was in the mod any ways, I can't confirm it's in the SA but I think I saw people mention it is. -

It's the best multiplayer game since Ultima Online. -
I completely agree, and I've been just wearing the starting jeans and a flannel shirt lately. I don't even use a backpack. I use a protector case when I can and put a couple extra items in there and stick it in my pants. I call it my lunch box, and I think it's hilarious to have to pull it out to get anything out of it, it's fun. But I totally agree that there needs to be more variety, I think it will come with time as new items are added. Right now, I feel like most people end up looking very similar because everyone grabs the stuff with the most pocket space, which ends up being all the military/hunter stuff. So everyone ends up completely green, with maybe varying backpack colors or face masks but besides that they are nearly identical. The differences aren't pronounced enough to really tell people apart from a distance, and I even get confused with my friends. I'd say just give it time though, but I would recommend that there be more focus towards civilian looking clothing than military.

Same with the double barrel right? I've yet to see one any where, just ammo.

SUGGESTION: Ability to spin chamber to force hostages to play Russian roulette.
Bororm replied to DannyFilming's topic in General Discussion
Yes please! This would be great. -
So I really like the fact you can write notes in this game, but I find myself passing up every piece of paper because I can't really be bothered to check every single one. I think a really easy and simple improvement would be to create a different graphic for notes that have been written on. Just make blank paper, very clean/blank and if it's been written on have some bold obvious random scribbles to identify it. I think that would make them a lot more apparent and people may actually start using them! Just so we're clear, I'm not saying this should be any sort of priority, just something down the line.

I think it should be adjusted, I don't like arbitrary stats/numbers to add randomness to shooting in games. The gun should shoot where you point it, not spit out bullets sideways because of some variable. To compensate for it, and make it not an easy mode laser there should be added recoil and of course breathing etc fucking up the aim. But those are things you should be able to compensate for. The lack of right click zooming on anything but the long range scope already makes fights shorter range. There should be purpose to scopes like the acog etc. The people saying a random person picking up a gun won't be able to hit anything, that isn't because the gun is magically shooting bullets out sideways, it's because the person doesn't know how to use the gun. Simulate that, not "/roll 1-100 did I land the shot where I aimed?" This is the difference between having a shooting game based off "skill" vs randomness/luck.

Suggestion: Modify chest holster into a thigh rig
Bororm replied to GH3OSTLY's topic in General Discussion
It would be nice if holsters could hold 1 or 2 pistol mags, or at least like a stack of loose bullets. -
That could work too. Just some sort of difference that's obvious.

Creating a map/tool to help clans coordinate
Bororm replied to Sooba's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Very awesome! I actually came up with the same idea a while back but unfortunately don't know the first thing about programming etc so this is really cool to see! I originally was thinking of just a map you could basically draw on like those shared drawing sites/programs. I see you got the pen tool as a goal so that will be really nice. Being able to coordinate during a fight and draw on a map where you want your guys to go or where their guys are etc would help coordination a ton. Actually it's a cool suggestion for standalone too if it could some how be implemented that you could draw on your map and share it with people directly or something. -
So it's probably not feasible to implement but I would love to be able to shoot people's guns out of their hands or shoot them in the hand to make them drop their gun. I think it'd add to the whole none-KOS deal. I say this as a bandit who KOS's, I'd just like more options. It'd be pretty hard to do, and probably would actually just happen more randomly than not. I know currently you can hit people's weapons, because I've shot at guys point blank just to be surprised that they won't die, and upon reviewing the recording I was just hitting their gun. I think the main issue would be to make it balanced so you aren't just having gun fights and constantly losing your gun because a guy is spraying at you and randomly hitting your hand/gun, which would just be annoying. Not entirely sure how to get around that without making it too gamey though. I know in red orchestra you can get your gun shot out. **** additional thought: You should be able to loot unconscious player's weapons/main inventory. This would also reduce KOS.
-
Just to clarify my suggestion was not exclusively to knock a gun out by shooting the gun itself, but by alternatively shooting them in the hand/arm as well. I'm not going to debate whether or not it is realistic to have a rifle shot out of your hand as I just don't have any actual experience shooting guns or anything. My thought would be that the shock of it would probably be enough to reflexively drop it, but then some one is probably just going to call me a pussy or something hahahaha. Assuming weapons need to be cared for in the stand alone, which it sounds very much like they will, I think hitting their weapon itself should damage it. Any ways, perhaps hitting their right hand (assuming shooting stays right hand dominant) could be the trigger. Or shooting their whole right arm/hand area enough to trigger a bone break much like breaking legs. I think in red orchestra it is just getting shot in the hand itself, and it never seemed to happen all that often to random chance.
