I can't stop killing fresh spawns.

I'm a firm believer that there's no better way to practice your aim than on fresh spawns. I still miss hitting up the elektro hospital roof with an enfield in the mod. My aim is shit in the SA, and I blame in part my early tendency to hold players up rather than kill them.

Fair enough! Also, edited my post. I really should have looked up the actual values first, that was foolish of me =P

I'm not saying two will take you to max, but it will definitely put the majority of color back into your vision. My comparison to the mod was more to those who might complain about it being a balance issue. Might I ask why you don't use them?

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

So have we all learned not to take games seriously and enjoy ourselves yet?

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

It originated online, a lot of the further bullying was also done online by other kids. It did get a lot more out of control though, and there was quite a bit of real world shit going on that I recall, but it's at that point that it ceases to be cyber bullying and actual harassment. The fact remains that it started online though, and could have been easily prevented. The parents should have controlled her online time or at least monitored it, and she should have used some common sense.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

When the standard is "remove yourself from situations you don't enjoy" I think it's fair to hold everyone to it. It's much like holding people to the standard of "don't touch the hot frying pan unless you want to get burnt." That said, I think it's on the girl's parents as well, as she was a kid.

Why should I care what that admin of the server wants? Especially when it's completely contradictory to one of the core mechanics of the game? You realize that if there were servers where killing wasn't allowed, that by the nature of the interconnected servers, anyone who went on such a server to gear up in peace would have an unfair advantage over everyone else?

I think she was a fucking idiot and that cyber bullying is bullshit personally. How about, just don't be an idiot online to begin with (if it's the same one I'm thinking of it was a result of her showing some stranger her tits online) and if people start harassing you online, just don't go online? Problem solved. You are responsible for yourself when it comes to being online. And it's the easiest thing in the world to remove yourself from situations online. See I'd say it's the people getting all worked up over nothing that should be the ones to change, not the people already enjoying the freedom they've been given. It's these people bitching about online trolling/bullying/griefing that are going to get the internet policed more and more so, when all they had to do to begin with was practice some self responsibility. It's like metal jungle gyms being taken down because some idiot parents let their kids get hurt. Please, some one else step in and save me because I don't want to take responsibility for myself :[

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

I mean that's cool if you get those impulses and are able to restrain them but I can tell you without a shred of dishonesty that I've never felt like I wanted to act out something negative I did in game to real people. That's not to say I haven't had thoughts of doing fucked up shit or whatever, I'm a human being and it's part of our nature, but I honestly keep video games and reality separate.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

Same. I used to like to grief people a lot in UO then I pretty much quit, and am generally pleasant in most games these days. It just makes me basically want to piss people off to the point of making them wake the fuck up and realize it's a video game and to quit getting their panties in a bunch. Honestly, there's not even a lot you can do in DayZ to genuinely be an asshole to them. The game allows you to remove yourself from pretty much any situation where you could be harassed. Apparently it's enough to just kill people these days though. I blame a huge gap in online gaming of a lack of games in which you could actually have the freedom to interact with other players "negatively" and as a result many of these people just aren't conditioned to playing a game where the mechanics don't protect them from interacting with people with different playstyles than them.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

If another human being decides to be hurt over what amounts to imagination games, then at that point I'd say it's on them for not differentiating between fantasy and reality. If you don't like interacting with them, don't, no ones forcing you to. Flip the scenario and are you going to say the same thing? Some real life criminal acts like a hero in game, being generous and kind. Is he suddenly actually just a repressed good person?

You're making assumptions about his intentions. Did he say "I'm killing you to ruin your day MuaHAhahHAa"? He killed you on a server that was labeled friendly. You have no idea if he even bothered to read that label, or if he had killed anyone else or what his intentions were at all beyond that he killed you. So why jump to these conclusions? You automatically assume hes on there to wreck people's times? That he's just after cheap kills? Why, there is absolutely no evidence for it and the only result is that you've become frustrated due to it. I jumped on a friendly server the other day by accident, I joined it before I even read the description. I logged on literally to a guy holding a gun to my head, so I tried to shoot him and died. Then I respawned and got on with my life. I didn't give a shit that it said "friendly only" because unless they were going to kick me, I was there to play DayZ. It wasn't a matter of "oh man, I'm totally going to try to wreck these people's time" it was, well, I don't want to wait 400 seconds to switch servers. You don't know these people's intentions or motivations so jumping to conclusions and calling them assholes doesn't do anything, except make you look bad and seemingly cause you frustration.

Again, I think you need to stop worrying about other people's motivations. You'll have a better time.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

You guys keep making these analogies that are real life scenarios. Hitting a basketball out of a persons hand in real life is being an asshole, yes. Finding your kids tying each other up and force feeding them in real life is disturbing, yes. The difference is this is a video game, it is make believe and if you realize that then no, it is not a reflection on yourself because you have made that differentiation between reality and not. Do real life assholes play DayZ and also act like assholes in game? Sure. The opposite is also likely true. My issue is with jumping to the conclusion that because of the way a person acts in a game they must be that way in real life. If I'm going to ruin your day in a game, and you decide to let that get to you out of game, I'm sorry but that's your responsibility not mine. I can't be responsible for what you find fun, that's purely subjective.
  17. Kinda agree with Gews. I mean they could have it affect what they've been calling "dexterity" in relation to how you gun handles when you move/turn, but I can't really see a way to do that without making one better than the rest unless they adjust accuracy figures as well, which like Gews says is basically stupid. I mean I suppose they could adjust the speed at which the weapon moves around, in such a way that having a grip suited for cqb would cause your gun to whip around faster and one better suited for long range make your gun move slower and more deliberately, making smaller aiming adjustments easier. I think you're then almost representing mouse acceleration again though, in a weirder sort of way.

I'm not seeing where he was an asshole with his first post. He gave you some good advice and addressed the different facets of your original post. He didn't insult you, besides saying you were whining. Which to be fair, you basically were. I mean if you wanna psychoanalzye people you may want to start with yourself and why you immediately jump to personal insults almf3.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

Again you're not differentiating between real life and a game. If you go around killing people in a game, no you are not a killer. You're a killer in the game, that's a fictional world, but that doesn't make you a killer in real life. Real life actions matter, not in game actions, they are separate. It's on you not them to determine how you handle a situation, and I'd suggest that if you know a person finds it fun to aggravate you, you stop getting aggravated. It's as simple as that, you can't be griefed if you don't allow yourself to be and the easiest way is to either ignore them or remove yourself from the situation. These people are probably on the other side of the world from you and you're never going to meet them, you probably won't even see them again in game. Play to make your own fun, if you don't have fun interacting with particular people, move on. Throwing around insults about who they are as actual human beings isn't going to get you any where, and isn't relevant.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

You are still approaching this without the realization that a good amount of these people being assholes in game understand that it is entirely fictional, and thus it is not a reflection of who they are because they are actively choosing to be something different. Being an asshole in game does not inherently make you any bit of an asshole out of it, subconsciously or not. Now jumping to conclusions and calling people assholes irl because of their in game actions. That does make you an asshole.

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

almf3 you really need to reevaluate your stance on online gaming as you are completely wrong. It's a video game, the people you're bitching about realize that, while you clearly don't. The issue is you can't separate reality from a game, and thus you are letting your emotions carry over. You're getting upset about something that has no real world implications at all. Take a step back and realize that DayZ is a game in which you are free to do what you like, and some people like to act like assholes in it. That's their choice and has no relevance to who they are as real people. That is the point of a game, to be able to do things you can't/don't do in real life. Make your own fun and quit worrying about other people's motivations.
  22. I think the multiple interconnected servers/server hopping aspect of DayZ is one of its worse features personally and adds very little (positive) at all to the game. But it's a bit late. Here's hoping for some sort of private hives that are still some how tied to the central server, or a server option or something.
  23. Bororm

Why is the Dayz community so bad?

This right here is almost entirely due to the fact that other players can and will kill you. Take away the people killing you for no reason, and the game is trivial. At least in its current state.

    Glitching walls.

I think they could sorta stand to do a bit of a makeover on the feedback page, as it's not very intuitive. Took me a bit to realize I needed to register an account to vote as well, since even in the help/instructions it didn't say that was necessary.

Will we have acog and red dot combo and etc.

They had a g3 with acog in dayzero, was pretty sweet. Googling brings up multiple variations of real life G3s with acogs attached. Also, while I agree that some of the more fancy optics (like red dots/holosights) are probably fairly rare in real life, look at some images from a lot of the recent conflicts in places like Syria or the Ukraine. Lots of these rebel groups etc, have some form of scope on their guns.
