Had a strange encounter with one of these guys on the coast of berezino. He was crouched with a fresh spawn, I ran up and he proceeded to miss me with his infinite ammo shotgun, point blank, about 10 times. Then he finally killed me and blasted on my body nonstop for a good while. While waiting to respawn I overheard the two talking. The odd bit was, the hacker guy seemed like he was legitimately brand new to the game. I could hear fresh spawn guy, who presumably was his buddy trying to explain the game to him and stuff, but also asking him if he could give him weapons. The hacker dude responded with some shit along the lines of "sure, what are the good guns?" or whatever. Just the stuff he was saying sounded a lot like he was brand new to the game, which is pretty sad since the impression I got was, he bought the game just to hack. This is actually something I've wondered. My group spent the majority of our time around the neaf until recently, when we wanted a change of scenery and went back to Berezino. At first we didn't see many hackers, but then we've been seeing a ton so I wonder if it's just more common in Berezino. I'd imagine so, but the very first hacker I encountered was at the base of Klen near the neaf so I wasn't so sure.

I'd rather see a better designed stash/tent/container whatever, that you don't have to glitch to actually stand a chance of hiding. If they're redoing it, they should do it right.

I'm in favor of making anything involving vehicles a bit more involved.

I agree, cheating has increased drastically in the past week. It's every high populated server I've been on lately. I say this as some one who never saw an actual hacker (NOT just wall glitch/ammo duping, that shits been common but I don't consider an actual hack) till very recently. Hope something gets done, really don't want to see it go the way of the mod =/

Do you want to see personal statistics on death? ex: Killer, kills, shots fired etc...
Bororm replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
No, statistics just influence people's gameplay in stupid ways and are nothing but bragging rights. If you care about how many people you killed or the long distance shot you made or whatever, keep track yourself =P -
It's inevitable in larger groups unless you've got super good communication. We shoot each other fairly often. I find that for the most part, the clothing so far in the SA isn't actually terribly distinct past certain distances, and even though people might be wearing entirely different types of clothes, their silhouettes can end up looking mighty similar, leading to confusion.

Yeah this is one of the only things I don't really agree with Rocket on. He cited helicopter parts as an example, of having to hop servers to go find a part for your helicopter. So what's that leave, a bunch of useless helicopters per server, because there's only so many parts? What happens when a clan or whatever just hangs onto it, logs out with it or whatever? How do you know which server it's on to go after it? What happens when people just crash the helicopter almost immediately? There's just so many weird things that go along with it. I mean hopefully they can find solutions and make it all work, but I feel they've painted themselves into a corner with this server set up.

The whole point is the multiplayer experience. I mean, I'm not trying to be a downer, but I wouldn't expect a single player mode, ever. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not telling you to give up on DayZ or anything =P but you guys should check out Project Zomboid. I know it's not an fps, so if that's the appeal of DayZ to you guys, sorry for the suggestion, but project zomboid shares a lot in common with DayZ (rocket has cited inspiration from it numerous time, and i think it goes both ways with PZ borrowing from dayz as well). The zombies are a bit more difficult, and there's more focus on crafting and surviving. I think it's a better single player experience myself.

I joined their server the other night actually. They were using global chat some how, talking about how they were recruiting and stuff. Both text and voice. Saying some pretty obnoxious things that made me want to do anything but join them (not that I'm looking for a group any ways, happy with mine). We encountered a lot of hackers on that server, but I don't know that it was them so I'm not accusing them of that. Seemed kinda like lamers to me honestly haha.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too, in terms of specific tools to counter specific locks/doors. People are going to probably scream about realism, yet again, (I can break a door/lock with X what's this bullshit that I need Y???) but there's really no way to balance it without getting a little bit gamey. It would be a good thing for crafting too, maybe you'd have to craft some explosives or a tool, gathering some fairly rare parts. I think they should aim for it taking near equivalent effort to break into a place, as it takes to create it. That way you expend a lot of effort to get in some where, and it's a gamble for the attackers whether it will even pay off. You might use your rare c4 or whatever to get into a base, only to find the guys had jack shit. Epoch was interesting in that you could build your own structures, but people typically would barricade existing ones because: 1) you were already given a bunch of walls/a nice structure by using existing ones and 2) you couldn't break said walls of existing structures (typically any ways, there were of course destructable buildings in the mod) It was nice though, because you were able to expand onto it, people would build towers on barns or whatever, and then use the barn as a garage. We'll see how it goes in SA, I have confidence whatever gets added will be fun if nothing else, because it's always fun to build and change the environment regardless of how practical it is.

No "Specialized" Cartridges [Torchia Tweet]
Bororm replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Too bad the network bubble is only 1000m so players don't render in past that, I'm gonna miss really long range sniping :[ It's a bit of a kick in the balls too because the draw distance in the SA is gorgeous compared to the mod. Still look forward to not having to land a bunch of consecutive shots though. -
I think the direction they're going for base building right now is going to be barricading and converting existing structures into your base basically. They are looking to make things like fridges/ovens/cabinets into containers, that spawn loot but also presumably that you can store loot in. I think with the abundance of new towns/houses this could work, the problem of course is balancing the amount of damage these barricades can take. You don't want it trivial to break into a base, but you don't want it too hard either.

Where'd you log out, maybe you died.

Glitch abusers have found their way into the appartments now..
Bororm replied to toasted duckie's topic in General Discussion
Yes they are working on a fix for wall glitching, all wall glitching presumably. Just not finished/tested yet. Infinite ammo fix coming in next update supposedly. https://twitter.com/rocket2guns/status/470159393083105280 -
When are we getting more weapons and vehicles?
Bororm replied to icarus255's topic in New Player Discussion
Yep, a year or two is the current time frame they've given us alright. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
Bororm replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Trust me guys, I went 270 hours not seeing any but the last few days/week this shit is out of hand. You will see them soon, because teleporting and esp are becoming super common place. You'll probably hear an infinite ammo shotgun as the first telltale sign. Seems to be the weapon of choice for warping around to people. Like believe me, you can probably even find some of my posts, but I kept saying "I never see hackers, only dupers/wall glitchers" but the last few days it's every server I've been on. You'll know it when you see it, it's getting really bad. Only saving grace is there's no godmode, so if you're quick enough you can at least kill them. Here's a video of one I caught teleporting. As you can see I was in a pretty out of the way place. I started taking shots while still under the tree where the video starts. There was pretty much no reason for anyone around to be looking there. Normally I'd call it coincidence any ways, as I said, I'm not quick to jump to hacking accusations, DayZ is a mess regardless. But the guy clearly teleports in as well, and if you watch you can see for a brief second he reorientates himself, so it's obvious it's not desync. Either thing by itself, ok I'd be willing to let it slide, but they are tping. And I've seen it even more blatantly afterwards. And yes I know I responded like a dingus at the end, but all I was thinking was "great, no matter where I go this guys gonna be able to see me any ways" Also, go ahead and youtube the hacks. I did it to get a better understanding of what the fuck I'm up against. These dudes make no secret of this shit. Loot magnets, esp, teleporting, no clip, etc -
Hacking is on the rise, I used to not experience it much but lately there's a definite increase. Hopefully they fix stuff like teleporting/esp/loot magnets or whatever, but I think they'll never be able to crack down fully. It's the nature of online gaming. I miss private hives and policing at this point. Yeah, most of the time, admins etc are corrupt themselves and it's just as bad as the hackers but if you can find a good one it's at least a step in the right direction. None of these anti cheat measures are good at dealing with hacks as they happen, which lets be honest, is when it's most important to us as players. I mean it's great to know that the guy who killed you will probably get banned a month from now, but that doesn't do anything for me currently and by then there's gonna be some new hacks.

Surely you can see the difference? Authenticity vs realism doesn't mean anything goes. Cool attitude though, guy.

DayZ Standalone: COMPLETE list of all the books in the game and screenshots of their cover!
Bororm replied to marsmars's topic in General Discussion
To read the books, put them into your hands/use them on the quickbar. While I wouldn't object to being able to burn them, I don't feel they need a "purpose" like some people seem to. Not every item needs to be "useful" and adding novelty items to the game enhances it. -
I think some people take the realism thing a little too far. Rocket has already addressed this by saying they are going for authenticity, not realism citing attachments as an example. Get used to seeing attachments that wouldn't necessarily fit different guns, because the option is to either not allow them at all or to create a mountain more of work to accomplish the same effect.

Ninja Meh is pretty much spot on, but don't forget the step when placing it where you place it over and over and over being paranoid it's too visible and you can get it "just right" only to stick it too far into a tree and render it useless. Tents were also pretty lethal themselves, I know I broke my legs and even died a number of times trying to access some really sneaky tents =P
-
Well I can confirm I can't see mine or anyone else's past probably 400m. I've seen them around 300-400 so I think you may be right on that, but anything further there's nothing for me. Even on stuff like metal (the hangers etc) where it used to make a nice big "spark."
-
It's already the best multiplayer game I've played in years.
-
I think it's a nice way to keep things in check, and also provides more value to magazines themselves. Currently, with the m4 as an example, you only really need 2 60 round mags. One in the gun, one to swap out. Reloading the one you swap out with piles of ammo, since you could have more stacks of ammo in the slots than the mag. It places more value on mags, and adds some more thought into inventory management. Hopefully the fact it doesn't work on the akm means they fixed it for m4s as well. Can anyone confirm?

Then again I'm not even sure some of the people around here play the SA either =P
