Go to the north end of berezino, hardly anyone goes to the upper part of berezino because it's lame. The only reason I go to the construction site is to jump off, to spawn closer to the north end.

The initial appeal of DayZ for me was the open sandboxyness. It reminded me a bit of the feeling I used to get when playing UO, even though they're completely different genres, and I'd been waiting a long time for another game to capture that. I like the direction the SA is headed, but at the moment things are admittedly pretty dull. I do still enjoy the pvp, but it's in a shitty spot. The reason I still play is primarily for the friends I've made. I rarely play solo any more, so it's more about just goofing off and having fun. When stuff gets more fleshed out I could probably see myself playing the game for the sake of the game again, and working on stuff solo. Like building a base and what not.

I'm bad at telling where shots are from, some people are really good at it, I got some guys in my group who can find guys pretty easily. So maybe a good headset does help, or maybe my hearing is just bad. One thing that is helpful though, besides hearing, is being familiar with popular spots. Even if you can't pin point some one by the shots themselves, if you know where the popular sniping spots are, or at least have a basic understanding of where people would likely be, that narrows it down a lot.

More civillian clothing.. Less military
Bororm replied to maninthewall's topic in General Discussion
I think this is true of most people. Would be nice if there were more options for civ gear with larger inventories. Personally, I wear goofy outfits and don't like the camo/mil gear at all, I care very little about inventory space. But most people are all about the slots, and just grab whatever has more regardless of aesthetics, which has the end result of mil/camo gear. Nothing wrong with it, just ends up with the boring result of everyone looking very similar. -
The rocks in the SA aren't quite as bad as the ones in the mod, in the mod you were pretty much guaranteed to break your legs walking on any rocks, now you can kinda move around on them with no too much worry. That said, never trust them.

Sorry if there was already a thread on this, I didn't see one but I admittedly didn't look so hard =P http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2742is/once_base_building_is_added_how_will_they_go/chx7hn0?context=3 So this seems like a pretty straightforward solution. I could see potential issues if the footprint of the zone is poorly defined, but hopefully they make it extend past the actual structure. Potential issues with say, barricading a single room in an apartment/multistory house could arise (does this zone register vertically? That could cause issues with logging out above/below), but perhaps that just won't be a possibility or their system will be good enough for it to work. We'll just have to wait and see!

It sorta sucks, a lot of hackers do it so blatantly and I've killed a fair amount as well as gotten some to talk etc, so you do find their names some times. Wish there were a way to report them. I suggest staying away from Berezino. I was playing primarily at the neaf and got sick of the wall glitchers/dupers so we switched it up to Berezino, but we noticed Berezino is where the real hackers (teleporters etc) hang out. It sucks, because there's not a lot of options for consistent pvp, but Berezino is by far the worst place right now. Hackers are lazy and most stay close to all the action though.

You won't need to server hop for loot when loot actually respawns, unless they really fuck up on the implementation. As for ghosting: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/198544-rocket-on-ghosting-vs-barricadingbases/

Everything retro19 said is correct. Server lag affects bullet travel time, for all guns at all distances. I've even had shotgun pellets have a huge delay even at sub 30m ranges. There's currently a bug where you can't see bullet impacts past something like 300-400m. Sniping really sucks right now. It's doable, but you have to trust fully in your zeroing which it seems like you're doing. It's probably just server lag. It doesn't matter if you're getting a chain or not, it's the server itself lagging. I'm not all that good of a sniper, but I'm not terrible either. In the mod and in arma in general I can hit my shot, on the first shot, the majority of the time but in the SA everything is up in the air as to whether you're going to hit or not, and the lack of impacts just leaves me second guessing myself constantly. Damage is also pretty "random" dependent a lot on what gear people have, so with a lack of impacts, at these distances you may hit some one and not even really know it because you hardly damaged them on the first shot. This is even true of headshots, as a pristine helmet can block an entire mosin round. I really hope they fix seeing impacts especially, it just really sucks to not be able to adjust properly.

You could have just asked him for the vest. If I rob some one and they're acting like a punk I just shoot them though. But I treat the people I rob pretty good.

I like the black paint on the blaze, it looks more bluish/grey to me. Pretty stylish.
-
They need like a paint solvent or something, so you can undo paint jobs.

what the fuck does that question even mean, is it relevant? Relevant to what? Do you like playing it? yes? play it. No? then don't. this isn't some popularity contest.

I don't care how hard they are to break, you put one in a high traffic area, people are going to break it down. It's not going to last long if you barricade a barracks at the airfield, you can't be there to watch it 24/7. I've played plenty of games with similar concepts, including some of the mods that did the same thing. Also, I'd be playing the wrong game if I didn't enjoy "trolling" and frustration.

Can't combine helmet and gasmask any more?
Bororm replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
So no one actually has a source on it, I see. -

I mean a direct quote/link, I'm interested in seeing it. -

Does anyone have a source on the clipping reasoning? -
Ahhh :[ Don't give up!

Just the one so far.

Break it down, an airfield barricade aint even gonna last a day.
-
I mean if we're going by the current state of the game there's hardly any zombies any where man. So I'd still rather barricade a building.
-
Typically if we've got some one pinned in, we try to get any angle we can on them. When that fails, we try to negotiate their surrender (we stick true to our word if they accept this). Otherwise we typically try to breach, to varying success. Very rarely, we'll say fuck it and leave. None of us care much about dying, and we play to pvp, so it's more fun to us to try than to walk away in most situations. Exceptions being assholes glitching in walls, though we've been known to even stick around longer than we should for that, and have killed some of them as well. If the roles are reversed? (assuming I'm solo) I'd probably hold up in a corner and wait them out for as long as I can. Usually I get bored before they do and try to make something happen in that case too though. Again, I don't care about dying enough to not act at all. Yeah, instead people just run around the corner and die to the guy waiting without realizing some one was in there to begin with, much harder =P

If we're playing that game then In the town = no zombies. :]
-
I'd rather live in a barricaded house in a remote village, even with zombies outside, than in a tent with zombies outside =P

Ugh the rest sounds pretty good but that is sad news. I was really hoping they'd sorted out not being able to see your shots by now. It makes sniping a huge pain in the ass currently.
