  1. Don't bother dude, these guys can't look at the bigger picture. You'll notice every example is always framed from the victim's standpoint, and set in a vacuum. "Some guy can see you without exposing himself!" ignoring the fact they can do the same. You notice that it's never some one saying "It's too easy for me, because I can shoot people without exposing myself," it's always "it's easy mode because people can shoot you without exposing themselves." It's all painted from a victim's viewpoint because these people never adapt. They then blame the mechanics. This discussion will continue to happen forever, with these people ironically having tunnel vision. They can't have a civil discussion without resorting to petty insults. It's honestly not worth the time man. "You can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to drink," and all that, they just don't get it because they don't want to get it. It's easier to blame the game. In their hearts they know it's bullshit, both modes are valid, one isn't more "hardcore" or "harder" which is why they resort to insults. To cover up their insecurities and low self esteem.
  2. Why do people who prefer first person feel the need to be so nasty and insulting? You're not going to win people over by being assholes you know. They constantly say first person is for "hardcore" and "mature" players, while simultaneously acting like children. Look at the thread title "grow a pair," yes, because clearly a "true man" feels the need to belittle people who don't share his preferences. Everyone's free to play the game how they like, that's why options exist.
  3. Shhhh don't try to use logic on their illogical "solution."
  4. Kinda had my first rage quit tonight due to hacking. Encounter hackers a lot, obviously don't like it but don't normally let it get to me. Guess it's all been wearing on me a bit though, and tonight some fucker shot me basically through a whole building. Hadn't really seen that before, but I was on the roof of one of the unenterable factories, see a guy below, try to confirm it's not a member of my group (we were already in a fight, we knew these guys were at least dupers because I knocked one out and he had an infinite ammo mag), then dude starts shooting at me. I back up towards the middle of the roof, there's no fucking way he can see me or have an angle on me, but he continues to shoot. Shooting through the building walls, up through the roof and killing me. Between that and some other issues I was like, welp, fuck this, and quit. Didn't even respawn, which is rare for me hahaha. Wasn't super pissed or anything though, just fed up. Seriously considering a break from DayZ buuut I'm weak willed and will probably be back on that shit, especially with the new patch =P This was also after having all mine and my buddies gear stripped earlier today too. It's just every fucking day with this shit. It went from playing like 200+ hours without seeing a single legitimate hacker, to seeing a hacker nearly every hour, or at least every server. It's fucken bad.

It's getting lonely and barren in NWAF

Ya kinda answered your own question there buddy. To reiterate though, there's no incentive.

It is possible future of DayZ?

Without those things? no With less of those things? yes

It's not a secret, people just don't care.

My plea to remove military gear

It just makes it more satisfying to kill people with better gear with "shittier" gear. I love shooting guys using m4s with my double barrel (at least when it's not broken, as it is currently) or a blaze or even revolver. In that sense skill does matter. All the guns are lethal. I don't think military gear should be removed, it makes sense in the game's setting. I'd love a wild west themed sandbox game though. When the game opens up to modding maybe you'll see something more in line with what you want.

    Glitch or hacked?

That's just a glitch. If you unequip/re-equip and they still don't show their contents, try adding an item into them. Obviously that won't work if they're completely full, but if there is an empty slot adding a new item usually causes the rest of the gear to show. I find most people fill their inventory from the top down, so the bottom right slight is most likely to be empty =P Relogging also some times works, though not always.

    I won't lie, I'm quite excited

Likely during maintenance, which happens very early wednesday/late tuesday depending on your time zone. Basically tomorrow though.

It's getting lonely and barren in NWAF

I don't go there because there's nothing I can get there that I can't get in the east. Once they add cooler end game gear and make it exclusive to the west then I'll have a reason to go, both for the items and increased traffic. Until then, it's not worth my time.

    I won't lie, I'm quite excited

I'd like to see them add loot respawn, item persistence and then barricading, for actual features. But I'd first like to see a focus on the hacking problems, because right now it's really out of hand. They need to fix the major hacks such as teleporting/esp and probably most importantly the loot stripping thing. I'd like to see a refocus on that, because you can make the coolest game ever but hackers are just going to ruin it.

    Bad Bandits are Bad

It's not necessarily zeroing, though that has admittedly been the cause before, the game is just fucking wonky some times. Happens with pistols too. You see the impacts literally under their head. For instance, this shot missed. I mean looking at it closer, I guess maybe I was aiming too low? The impact was behind his head though. The point is this shit happens, again it's like saying some sniper is bad or something because they're missing you, as if no one ever misses a shot. It happens to everyone.

Removing spawns is making this game bad

Sorry Gibonez I'm just tired of the conversation already. You're approaching a current problem that is only a problem because the game is incomplete. Again, we have the mod as an example that it works fine to have players spawn on one side of the map and move to the other for end game loot, creating nice traffic flows. The only reason this isn't happening currently on the same scale (it arguably is happening to a very limited extent, some players do still go west) is because there's no incentive for most people. Once that incentive is created, the problem you're trying to address will no longer be relevant. I'm done with the topic as I doubt we'll ever agree.

Removing spawns is making this game bad

Gibonez the map is not as big as you think it is, familiarize yourself with it more. The majority of my points that you say are invalid are because you believe the map is big enough to support that, it's not. With 100-150 players (their target goal) the chances of randomly spawning near another player and things like camps etc is going to be extremely high. The point is also not that you will spawn exactly on a place like the nwaf, the point is that if I spawn in the east and kill myself my chances of spawning some where in the west is still significantly high. Why am I going to take a berezino spawn when I can feasibly end up any where on the west side of the map, and closer to the airfields? Will it mean people have to travel a little bit farther from their spawn? Sure, slightly, but there's no guarantee and actually the opposite is true that you will increase travel per player in any significant manner. Think about it, currently everyone spawns on the east. Once theres a reason to go west, EVERYONE will have to make that journey if they want the rewards for doing so. If you create spawns every where, there and between, you've just created a huge chance of spawning even a tiny bit closer than would be possible otherwise. With the amount of people playing and respawning, you are going to see these scenarios happen and they are going to happen a lot. If the possibility for something exists, and it's allowed to happen long enough, it will happen. As long as some places on the map hold greater value than others, map flow IS important. It doesn't matter how big the map is, and that it's a sandbox. It's a matter of balance. The map is a maze, if only figuratively. There's avenues of travel with places of interest. Different routes develop, and there absolutely are goals. The problem currently is that the goals hardly exist. We already have a working model of this in the mod. You travelled south to north and back. This is their stated goal, except now east to west. I don't see what the issue is, it's just not complete yet. There will be plenty of traffic. It's carrot on a stick. You create incentive. If you have a horse you want to move, you don't just pick it up and place it further down the track.

Removing spawns is making this game bad

My main issue with night is I don't adjust my gamma either, but a lot of people do. Since the current state of the game, for me at least, is pvp that gives them quite an advantage over me that I can't counter to any significant degree legitimately. The options for lighting right now are pretty limited so I just don't find it very fun. That and the day/night cycle is really long, and I don't want to play night for like 12 hours. Don't get me wrong, I know they're pretty shitty excuses but I'm just saying that once I have a reason to stick to a server and there's more options like flares, camp fires (already on experimental), chemlights and that sort of thing I'd be more inclined to play it. That's why I put "legitimate" in quotations =P

Removing spawns is making this game bad

Stuff that encourages you to stick to one server. Base building, vehicles, loot respawning etc. Those should all help, though not solve it completely of course, but it will help. A major "legitimate" reason people hop right now is because night time sorta sucks, so making that experience more fun/interesting would be helpful as well. These are all things they're already working on. I'm sure other ideas in a similar vein could be thought up though. I just think any further penalties should pretty much be a last resort. You did mention waiting till beta at least, so hopefully most of this stuff is in by then. If it's still a huge problem and they've exhausted alternatives I suppose then it could be a good idea. I just know that it's not always black in white in issues like this, so when innocent players end up being penalized it just sorta sucks for everyone =/

Rather than penalties they should create incentives.

Removing spawns is making this game bad

We've had this discussion 100 times already. But some recaps: The map isn't actually that big, throwing spawns around randomly still just means people will suicide for a closer spawn to whatever the hotspot might be, say NWAF balota whatever. If I spawn in the east, but the best loot/majority of the action is in the west, I'm going to suicide regardless till I get closest to it. This greatly negates travel and map flow. Suicide isn't difficult, it's a matter of just finding a zombie or something to jump off. We don't know what base building will be like, but when it's implemented, having people randomly spawn within the vicinity of your base/tent/whatever is detrimental to the game. It was already near impossible to hide a legitimate tent in the mod, this will just make it even easier to find people's shit. It doesn't matter if they're a fresh spawn, they've just discovered the location of your stuff by complete chance, they didn't have to put any effort into it and can come back easily. Same with vehicles, if you try to hide a vehicle and some guy just ends up spawning next to it he's just gotten a free ride for no effort. Fights will be interrupted by people just spawning in "on top" of them. You can't feasibly implement a system that will spawn players far enough away from each other because again, the map isn't actually that big. You will spawn and hear fights even if you spawn 500m away or whatever. It will make grouping up even more of a pain in the ass. It shouldn't be super easy to group up, but it shouldn't take the majority of your play time to do so. Not everyone plays this game lone wolf. It just adds nothing significant. The current spawn system is actually fine. People who know the map, eventually know all of it. Any sense of disorientation will be lost quickly. You can't and more importantly shouldn't force people to explore. Assuming people don't just suicide to hot spots (let's be real, they're going to), you've got the opposite problem where everyone is so spread out that the game becomes super boring. Overall it just kills any meaningful map flow. The idea is to create points of interest and traffic, not randomly drop people at their destinations. It's like creating a maze and then dropping mice randomly through out it, some end up closer to the "goal" arbitrarily. How is that a good idea? Above all else though, the game is so incredibly incomplete right now that it's completely pointless to even touch spawns.
  21. I don't like hackers but fuck the guys in that video for glitching any ways. They're no better than the hackers. Duped gear, glitching their cameras through walls, glitching bags on their heads (that ones not a huge deal but its still a glitch). They deserve it.

I find it hard to blame people for server hopping when we're close to 6 months in with no loot respawn. The game is also extremely shallow currently.

    Bad Bandits are Bad

Anyone who's played DayZ for any significant amount of time has missed a shot from point blank like that. Happens to me all the time, because the game is wonky as fuck. I shoot downed players in the head all the time to make sure they're actually dead, and this happens to me regularly. Your sights/scope will be right on the guys head and you shoot and it just kicks up dirt under their head. It's like people talking shit about snipers missing shots or whatever, as if they've never missed a shot themselves. Just a butthurt dude, these bandits weren't particularly bad they just don't give a fuck. This was just a normal DayZ encounter. Also agree the dude deserved it, he had a crappy attitude.

Removing spawns is making this game bad

The game is a sandbox and people have different priorities. My priority in dayz is to pvp, with my group. In that case, I can either run across the map, encountering very few other players, in comparison to staying in the north east region, for gear that doesn't interest me to begin with or stay put and get into multiple fights and be able to get back to my group easily so we can all play together. When there's stuff to draw more players to the mil bases, there will be more traffic and I'll gladly go pvp there instead. Vehicles will also be helpful for group play, just like the mod. Until then, I'm going to put in the least amount of effort for the maximum amount of fun, because for me that's the state of the game. There is no long term payoff without any real form of persistence in this game currently. If you like to gear up and get m4s and deck them out and get full mil gear that's a perfectly valid way to play as well, but a lot of people don't play that way, or least that isn't their priority. Many players have been playing DayZ since the mod, and in the current state of the game the main attraction for them is pvp. I'm perfectly happy killing guys with any gun that isn't an m4, so there's no reason for me to leave. Even without server hopping it's incredibly easy to gear up.
