It's a video game, and it's a work in progress. Yeah you could rip the meat off a fish with your hands, just like you could easily open a can with a machete and not spill half of it, or even if you spilled it eat it off the floor, but they need to make gameplay interesting too. They can't make everything 100% realistic, or it'll be dull from a gameplay perspective. If there's no reason for a can opener over any other item what's the point. They have to represent these things in some way, so you butcher an animal with a dull knife you get less meat, that makes sense on a basic level. Things will change, they'll probably add in more knives and such with different results.

Saw a hacked mag today, so yeah, they're still in circulation.

Yeah exactly. I'm personally not even attracted to military loot as it stands. I don't use m4s, I don't wear camo or the vests or any of that stuff. I only go to the mil spawns to pvp. Adding more stuff to do, and as a result more necessary items will be the way to go. The fishing lures are an example. I spent a good deal of time the other day going through the new city looking for one. Finally found one and spent a little time checking out fishing/camping. I usually play to pvp, so on a very small scale that got me doing something else, even if it was only for a couple hours. The more that stuff like this is added, the more there will be to do and the more use we'll get out of the map. Car and helicopter parts were a big drive in the mod. Factories, like pollana, became relative hot spots. Out of the way fueling stations were attractive for helicopters. We'll see that sort of thing happen. I agree it would be nice if particular loot were more specific to certain towns or whatever. What if fishing were expanded (different rods/hooks/tackle) and you were much more likely to find the gear needed only at coastal towns or those near lakes, or that sort of thing. How bout if particular hunting supplies (maybe tanning kits, or something to make trophies or who knows) were more prevalent at some more remote towns, such as CernayaPolana which has a lot of hunting lodges. I'm just throwing out examples. If barricading is implemented in a way that you can have a relatively secure house/structure, then we can see a lot of additional stuff in that category as well. So as per the example above, what if you could create trophies or bear rugs or whatever from hunting, and stick them in your base, or furniture. A whole mess of items could be introduced towards crafting in these regards that could be appropriately distributed around the map, making particular towns more interesting.

I agree with that Katana, just like moving all the player spawns and such, it'll all work out in the end. The transition period is just gonna suck a bit imo. Like many things with the alpha I think if they prioritized certain things a bit better they could make these transitions more enjoyable, but I also realize they simply don't care right now since it's an alpha.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. I know they need to create more incentive to go west, and I've complained myself that there's no reason to with military loot at the neaf. The thing is, I'd rather it be due to the highest end stuff west, rather than simply no real military gear east. Now they've ended up with berezino, svet, new town, and the big new city all up in the east. As well as kraz and this newly redone neaf. It's all mainly residential loot/civilian stuff, so none of the towns are really any different than the rest. There was no incentive to go west before, but now there's little incentive to go to any particular place in the east either. It's not necessarily a bad thing, I just don't think the current 40 player pop is good for it. I'd like to see them focus on stability and getting the player cap up if they're going this route so soon. It's gonna be lame to hardly see anyone in each of the towns (already pretty much the case). To put it another way, it just seems like a bit of a heavy handed approach to get people to move at this point.

People play on the coast too, it's a valid place to play. Regardless of whether these guys can hit anything or not, eventually players who can pick these mags up. Besides that, it's cheating. There's no reason to let them continue to be in circulation, just so everyone else can keep some gear that they'll eventually lose any ways (everyone dies). They fixed the hack mags, but as far as I know they never removed them. They were still present in game after the supposed fix, and one of the people from battleye commented that the ones we still see are "left overs" ignoring the fact that it's still really easy to dupe. I mean, your reasoning seems to be "I don't care, so it doesn't matter." Out of sight and out of mind doesn't work on cheating, sorry to say, because it still affects other people.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
Bororm replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
I think hacking probably went down a bit with the patch as people are most likely spreading out a bit more and checking out the new content, though I'm sure it's still going on. There's hope though: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/28n5l2/hicks_206_todays_experimental_update/cici826?context=3 Sounds like they're going to implement a fix to experimental, and if it works pop it over to stable pretty quick here. -
I think they should move some of the shitty ass spawns closer to the new city, and make it the new cherno. I know theres already some in the vicinity, but I'd rather spawn around there than some of the other shit spawns they've been adding.

Question about the new break-action pistol..
Bororm replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
Supposedly where ever pistols/rifles share a spawn. So stuff like piano houses, schools, military buildings that sort of thing. That's just what I heard though. -
They really should do a wipe, the amount of duping that was going on (and probably still is) is insane. They've fixed infinite ammo mags, but they're still every where because people just dupe them all. The only way to get rid of them, is to do a hive wipe. They should fix duping before the wipe ideally, but let's be real they are never going to be able to fix duping. It exists in every online game. So wiping just to get rid of all the infinite ammo mags would be worth it alone.

Yeah got more rubber banding since the patch, even if it's server side it still happens more than before the patch. Lot more error messages too. More lag/desync in general. Lots of little bugs. Pretty much standard affair when ever they patch, but overall I feel it's less stable than the last patch. I'm sure they'll work it out though. It's the same sorta shit that makes me sorta wonder why they like to take so long to patch to stable from experimental though. I get the point of experimental to find the big bugs/problems first, but they take so long to patch over to stable and then have to deal with more bugs any ways just due to the nature of stable being so much larger. I feel like they might as well make the process shorter and just get this shit over with quicker. I understand that in this instance it took a lot of work due to the rubber banding problem, which was the cause of the delay, I'm just speaking generally though. Stable is the alpha too, just sucks to wait for something that's not actually any better.

That's actually pretty awesome, hope they don't change it.

Has Anyone Else lost Faith in Dayz?
Bororm replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
The problem is everything else has been redone. The zombies aren't the same zombies from the mod, they've also been redone, new skeletons/models everything. Their ai just sucks right now. For cars, we've seen videos of what happens when people mod in the cars. Your character is standing in them/sticking through the roof etc. They would need to create animations/poses for those old cars, because the characters have been completely redone. How would you implement the parts system as well? Would you just not have parts, and only working vehicles? That's dull and people would complain. If you implement having to repair vehicles, you then need to put all those models into the game as well. I mean I guess they could just use the old ones, but there'd be a serious difference in quality. It's all time and resources devoted to implementing the old stuff instead of working on the new. The thing is they are redoing pretty much everything from scratch. They don't want to waste time implementing half ass systems, that they'll just have to scrap and replace. I know it gets thrown around probably too much, but it's the alpha. This isn't about the players and having a fun time unfortunately. Trust me, I totally feel ya and wish they would make some compromises to give us as testers a better experience while we wait, but then again there's still the mod for that. This stuff will come, we just need to wait, and it will be better than the mod. That's the entire point. We knew what we were getting into when we bought it early. Now if they'd just hurry up =P -
Per Hicks: BattleEye now issuing bans for those who delete/alter PBO files

I was on the top of one of the unenterable factories in Svet, near the dock. I saw the guy, we'd been fighting him for a bit. He was below me very near the building. He started shooting at me when I was near the edge, so I backed up. He was pretty much directly under the building, so there was no possible way for him to see me as I moved towards the center of the roof and crouched/went prone. The entire time he continued to shoot, up through the building/roof at me, eventually killing me. I've got 360 hours. I know the guy was a least duping because I knocked him out prior to that event and he had an infinite ammo mag. Not saying all people with duped mags are necessarily doing other cheats, but all evidenced pointed to this guy being some sort of hacking scumbag. Never had some one shoot me through a building before that point. Had people pop out of walls to shoot me etc, but not through like that. -
It's not so much an increase in sway as much as a more jerky motion of the sway that already existed. Before it was smooth and your aim swayed. Now it jerks around instead. I was using a long range scope on the mosin.

I actually had that happen for pretty much the first time to me the other night. Was lame :[ -
Have this with fine arms (new spawn wasn't damaged at all). Heavy breathing affects it more I think. Just the way it's implemented is literally quite janky though.

Found some once in a while. I like that they exist, but most people don't use them. Notes were one of the first items they said would be persistent, which would be cool. I've made the suggestion before, but I think if the texture/graphic of the note actually changed after it was written on it would go a long way. I'm generally too lazy to look at each piece of paper I see laying around, unless it's in an odd spot, so if I could tell it had writing at a glance I'd be much more inclined to look. Now that you can rip pages out of books maybe I'll just start tossing notes every where =P

So if you had an M4 before the 0.45 patch

Player's next character will not be saved into database if he disconnects after death http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/200020-changelog-stable-branch-045124426/ Maybe? -
Did anyone notice how binoculars are 3x3 now
Bororm replied to hotcakes's topic in General Discussion
They apparently can fit in a holster now or something too. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/200020-changelog-stable-branch-045124426/ At least you can use them in all stances supposedly. -
Has Anyone Else lost Faith in Dayz?
Bororm replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Haven't lost faith but it is disappointing to see obvious bugs go onto stable, after the patch was on experimental so long. Such as the shotgun still shooting a single pellet, or the blue glow/haze I seemed to be getting in my inventory. Haven't played a whole lot yet, but stuff that's so obvious like that I just don't really understand how it gets through. -

Bororm replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
From what I've heard the AKM sounds like a better gun too =P Hopefully the drum mags are as rare as people say, though it won't take dupers long to saturate the loot economy I'm sure. Otherwise it would have been a nice change at least to only have to deal with 30 round mags regularly instead of 60. -
Try to confirm it's not just bugged and still attached, but not visible. Try relogging, or taking off another attachment from your gun. If it's still gone submit a bug report.

*******I've created a new feedback tracker for this issue, I don't know if that's actually helpful or not but it can be found here: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=12801 ****** The double barrel shotgun is only firing one pellet these days, on stable branch. Anyone know if this is being addressed/known? I've submitted some notes to a feedback tracker about the shotgun in general (http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=11265#bugnotes), but curious if it's been fixed on experimental or anything. It seems to me that this developed with the last minor patch to stable, though I suppose it could have existed before that and I just didn't notice. I use the shotgun quite a bit however so I feel I would have. I'll note that I shot a guy 4 times in the chest with it too, to no serious effect, so I'd say it is a single pellet and not something like all the pellets having no spread, or some sort of slug or something goofy like that. Apologies for the shitty video, I clipped it out of some other recordings after I grabbed the shotgun off a guy I'd just killed and wanted to do a quick test. My friend is just shooting a mosin for no real reason, but I've got a shotgun. You can see it's leaving single bullet holes. **warning some static at the start, watch your ears (no sound anyways) =P** In comparison here is a shot from a while back of the normal spread from the shotgun at close range.

Whether it's more helpful or not I've created a separate tracker for the issue, as it's still prevalent with the latest patch. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=12801
