So.. Is this what its about?

The dot isn't a crosshair. You can aim roughly with it, but it isn't an exact represenation of where your gun is going to shoot. (assuming that's what you meant by cursor) It's extremely difficult to hit players trying to melee you, with most guns, especially a mosin so you weren't wrong for running. I recommend getting distance on people, and doing things like trying to force them through narrow spaces/door ways. Going up stairs can be helpful as they're forced to walk on stairs, just don't trap yourself. My suggestion is you get good at killing people, before you try to get good at helping people. So that when those occasions do happen, you can defend yourself.
  2. Oh I thought we were doing the nonsensical thing of fixing problems by removing the thing instead of even trying, my mistake. Lemme try again, they should just remove zombies since their ai/pathfinding doesn't work properly.
  3. They should remove the guns to fix the dispersion problems too imhirlo.

confirmed new stuff in exp. 46.

I got a better idea, let's start from the realization that not all gun spawns and food spawns are shared.

Do you? because your original post doesn't sound like you do. There's no reason that adding more gun varieties should reduce the amount of food spawns.

That's not really a mosin specific nerf, it's just that the way damage is done has been affected by items. Every gun does less damage than at the start of the SA, because items/clothing mitigate some of the damage now. When the SA launched, the FNX killed in one shot too.

That's not how the loot tables work.

You know how many times I died to grenade launchers in the mod? In easily like 1000+ hours? 0 People get pretty worked up around here about shit we've got precedence of in the mod, and I just don't get it. I realize not everyone played the mod, but come on, trust the people who have. This sorta shit isn't a big deal. Also, as far as weapon balance goes, everything is lethal so it hardly matters. The only thing that ever seemed overpowered were thermal scopes. 1 shot sniper rifles? Who cares, you can get one shotted by a pistol if it's a headshot. As Katana mentions, this game isn't balanced in the traditional sense. Some guy could have a .50 cal and you could run up and knock him out with fists, so what's the issue? The game is more about positioning than what weapon you have. Variety is better.
  9. The only armed vehicle in the vanilla mod was the huey, with 2 machine guns (m240s I think?). No blackhawks with mini guns unless you were playing a mod of the mod. They were not terribly effective for actually shooting people unless you were super pro aces sharp shooter, and had a really good pilot that could keep things stable while not making you a sitting duck. More often then not, if some one was shooting at you, staying steady with one you could snipe him out easily. Before anyone jumps on my dick about how they totally shot dudes, yes I'm not saying they were useless and I used to shoot guys too, but I think anyone can agree they were better for suppressing than actually killing. I never really cared for armed ground vehicles, especially things like armored humvees/suvs in a lot of the other mods. The armored stuff was really lame. I don't want to see any vehicle you can't reasonably counter to some degree with a rifle. Even if it's more just shooting out the tires, or shooting out the gunner. I know some of the mods had vehicles where it would take multiple .50 cal shots to shoot out the tires alone and that shit was dumb. I suppose I wouldn't mind trading the mounted helicopter guns for being able to shoot out as a passenger. Of course then you'll have dudes hovering 1000m out sniping instead, and people using LMGs any ways. If multiple passengers can shoot you end up with an even deadlier aircraft. If you restrict it, then you may as well leave it to mounted guns only.

What should I keep? the AKM or M4?

What's it matter if you'll likely lose them soon any ways, and if you aren't going to engage in fights regularly and risk them, then again, what's it matter?
  11. You don't need rocks for a fire I don't think, it's just to upgrade it which possibly doesn't even work? I do think you should be able to gather stones from stone walls, and probably some other sources though. I agree it's a bit more effort than it's worth currently. I like that it sorta requires some team work, but I also agree it kinda fucks over lone survivor types. Maybe they'll add some smaller shovels that can fit in your pack, or more options for bait etc. Any ways, it's early implementation and all of this stuff will be tweaked.

    Muzzle flash!

I feel its exactly the sort of thing that should be addressed, in beta. It's got no real impact on functionality right now, and as much as it might suck just like all the weapon handling shit, that's the sort of thing they're most likely saving to fix in beta.

    Stream Sniping....

If you're going to show people what you're doing/where you are in game, publicly on the internets, don't be surprised if you're sniped. That's how I look at it.

    Navigation

Everything above is useful, you can also use the in game compass and maps for some added fun. Above everything else though, just play the game and explore. Eventually you'll know the map very well.

    In-need of some clarification.

People complaining about muzzle flashes now? Jesus Christ.

    Desync - The Worst Problem?

Hope it improves, this patch is a step back in stability in general imo. People are back to doing the macarena again (was mostly gone last patch) and sliding all over the god damn place.

    Convince me to buy dayz.

If you need to be convinced to buy it, my advice is don't.

    yes, because some times gameplay>realism.

    We need a char reset!

Awesome news, thanks. (though to be fair I still haven't noticed any actual impact)

I do agree it's not too much of an issue as far as I've killed plenty of guys with duped mags, and they generally are incredibly awful, but its about getting them out of the system. Also, I'd remind you that it's not only m4 mags that were manipulated, people had infinite ammo mosin rounds, sks etc as well. My main issue with these, is that the people who use actual hacks use them too. A guy teleporting to you with an infinite ammo shotgun isn't pleasant, no matter how much he sucks. Again, I don't disagree most of these regular guys suck and in terms of encounters it's not the biggest deal in the world, I just find it hard to understand how anyone would be unwilling to sacrifice their current gear for the sake of removing this stuff permanently. Also, do you have a source for duping being confirmed as a hack that will be punished? Because it's more of a glitch, and I've seen nothing about that or even think they have a way to reliably track it. Would be great news, but that's the first I've heard of it. I hate to be pessimistic, I'm usually optimistic about the SA, but I really don't think they will ever get a real handle on duping. It exists in every mmo ever, ones with a lot more security and resources than DayZ. So why not cut out the source.
  21. Tonight I encountered a wall glitcher and multiple people with infinite ammo mags. I don't like to complain, but I think that it's worth making this post to inform people it's still happening because we were told that both infinite ammo mags and wall glitching had been fixed with the last couple patches. Now, we've had a response that the infinite ammo mags are no longer able to be created, the ones we still see are leftovers but with duping still happening it means they'll probably be around for a long while. (I personally think they should wipe the hive for this reason) What bugs me is the wall glitching. We were told this was fixed in this patch, and yet some guy I encountered at the neaf tonight, at one of the jails of course, was still doing it just the same as always, as far as I could tell in the exact same way it's always been done. So, I just wanted to inform people that this stuff is still going on and to be cautious of course. I can't have been the only one to have my hopes up that this shit was going to be fixed, it makes the neaf especially a completely unenjoyable place to visit. Before the major hacking was prevalent, I kept saying "infinite ammo and wall glitches are the only major cheats I see, can't wait till they fix them" then of course hacking exploded in popularity, and my stance changed a bit to "well they won't be fixing the real hacking any time soon, but at least they'll get rid of infinite ammo and wall glitching." Now that's not even the case (yet) either. I have confidence they'll sort this shit out, I'm just really disappointed that these patches didn't really help when they were supposed to.
  22. I'll be honest I've glitched my camera in the walls at the neaf before to check, and the majority of the time people are in there. Some times however, I'll see a legit player camping inside, and then I feel like total shit. When that does happen, I usually don't engage them as I feel it's pretty unfair on my part. Still, it's saved me a number of times from actual cheaters. I mainly only do it if the jail is looking highly suspicious to begin with.

    We need a char reset!

How very selfish. It's more like cutting off your hand to avoid an infection that's going to spread to the rest of the your body. These mags are not going to go away as long as duping exists. If they can wipe only m4 mags, or even better only the duped mags, that would be great but if they could do that I think they would have by now. A wipe would clear them forever, assuming that they really did fix the source of the problem. That's worth everyone's gear, legitimate or not.
  24. Sorry man, it's super disappointing I agree =(
