Last I tried it didn't work, but perhaps that was in the recent hotfix? I haven't really played since then. Or maybe I was just fucking up =P

Yes, you need to repair them all. Just get a tire repair kit, pop the tires off with a lug wrench. Target the tire with the kit in your hands and it will repair them to pristine.

DayZ is a game of risk vs reward. Of making sacrifice for pay offs. Double carrying in itself is a choice of extra annoyances for the reward of having two primaries. Planning and effort are a part of DayZ. If everything is easily done by a solo player with no drawbacks then where is the challenge? Make some friends to relieve the burden or else plan wisely. BTW the v3s doesn't need its middle wheels to drive. They are also adding in bicycles and motor cycles for solo players.

No one's running around shooting each other with arrows any way so does it even matter? This is just more bullshit armchair nonsense. We have a video of a guy who can reliably shoot multiple arrows at a target while moving. Does anyone here want to be shot multiple times, even by a "weak" bow? And then ultimately it has nothing to do with the topic. It's a bug that you can't reload arrows from the hotbar right now. As for holding arrows in the hand any way, yeah these guys are doing it wrong right? The people on this forum drive me crazy with their bullshit.

Vehicles are a bit of a group activity and "end game." It should be more difficult for a solo player to get one up and running. It wouldn't make much sense to cram even a car wheel into a backpack. That said, wheels are persistent at this time so gathering them isn't really that big of an issue. 2 hours really is not that long for DayZ. These sort of events are supposed to be time consuming because the pay off can greatly reduce time spent in other areas. You go from taking 30 minutes to run the map to 5 mins to drive it. You can now transport well beyond your maximum capacity and group play gains a huge benefit. As a side note, the v3s is bugged last I checked and you don't actually need a glowplug. It's also supposedly a terrible vehicle this patch.

The reason more complex vehicles came first is because they are designing and testing the mechanic for maximum complexity from the outset. Just like they did with the m4 being the most modular gun and also the first. Then saving the simpler stuff for later because it's easier to do once you have that framework in. In my own opinion, whether it was intentional or not, I am also glad they added cars before bikes because they encourage more cooperation. The game was already at a point where individuals ran as fast as a bicycle so it seemed silly to me to encourage lone players bolting around the map at even greater speeds. That is just my own opinion.

Wait for helicopters =P The map really is pretty small with vehicles. It's even pretty small with regular running.

Those are internal goals they've met, not the publicly released ones. I agree the wording on them is pretty bad, like most of the information they put out. They really should have hired a PR person years ago.

Sounds like a weird bug if true.

I may be wrong but isn't this that particular server provider's issue, not BI? It sounds like their systems weren't up to task and they have to update their hardware. I don't think that's any way indicative of increase in costs across the board for all server providers. So blame them not BIS?

I dont like the heli crashsite system and think it's flawed

Only real change I'd like is the sites to be completely random instead of preset locations. -
What are the current big military areas of the map?
Bororm replied to Leto (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Myshkino tents, nwaf basically. Since they made the old style barracks total crap, and jail buildings crap. It's pretty much tents and the "new barracks." There's a couple of the new ones in zeleno, but basically tents are the best bang for your buck, so the nwaf and myshkino base. Maybe prison island? But who wants to bother going out there. -
Because of the increased heli crash rate, heli loot is definitely not rare. I've yet to see an m4 myself.

When 25 players are fighting on the berezino shipwreck using only melee weapons :D

Nice video man -
Very true. There's still some good content out there. I suggest checking out MrBlackOut's stuff, that is precisely the reason I enjoyed his videos where as I usually don't get into watching other people's content. I used to enjoy Frankie's earlier stuff before he started doing exactly what you're talking about, spending more time bitching about stuff than just playing the game. MrBlackOut's hardcore series especially was just him enjoying the game and having some adventures, it was rather refreshing.

Yeah vehicles do some funny stuff with damaged/missing wheels this patch. I've actually driven quite a few with only 2-3 wheels. There's also a bug of not showing wheels some times until you relog. If you ever remove one and it seems to disappear, or you put them on and your friends are telling them it's missing wheels, it's just bugged out and a relog will fix it.

In my experience it doesn't work. You trip the wire and the grenade just flops down. Like you, I thought perhaps you have to unpin the grenade then attach it. Predictably, such a risky experiment did not end well for me. Once unpinned the grenade goes off as normal, even when attached. I think for now they simply aren't functioning correctly. As a side note, has anyone seen any bear traps or landmines this patch?

Exactly this. This topic is about hit boxes and damage multipliers in a game. The amount of simulation to account for flukes in nature, of a bullet wrapping itself through the layer of skin on a skull is not here so it doesn't matter. Just as it doesn't matter if you can get hypothermia from sweating because that shit isn't in either. Logically, using common sense, shooting something in the head has a very high chance of killing it.
-
It's more likely that it's a bigger/steadier target. That in real life it's probably incredibly difficult to hit a head which is relatively small and likely moving. The same reason they train to aim center of mass in the military. Not because the "skull is hard." Here's a little anecdote though, since that's all you care about: Early on the Iraq war an investigation took place because it was believed American forces were executing a bunch of insurgents by capturing them then shooting them in the head. Instead it was realized that the soldiers were just being incredibly accurate because of their acog optics combined with their heads being the only exposed targets the majority of the time. You have a very weird habit of taking little anecdotes to the extreme. What with your nail bat nonsense, "you sweat you die" mantra, splinters will kill you balogney and pretty much 90% of the stuff you post. The most comical part of it all is that it doesn't even apply to the game, those levels of simulation aren't in. There's nothing unreasonable at all when it comes to gameplay of expecting a headshot to do more damage, so your little stories about all the deers running around surviving headshots as well as humans are pretty pointless. Those are flukes, not the norm. There's a gif right above your post you might want to look at.

Yeah, don't ever try to shoot something in its arguably most vital organ, don't be silly OP.

You realize not all items necessarily get ruined/damaged from an attack right? That there's actually an order in which they take damage, where you can have some items remain unharmed with others being damaged in your inventory. In other words, it already simulates to an extent damage distribution through out a particular section of inventory. Sorting ammo was a perfectly fine mechanic. I'd like to see the source where it was removed intentionally, or that it isn't going to be re-implemented because quite frankly I don't believe it. From what's been said in status reports it's more in line with what I posted up above, each round is going to be an individual object even when stacked. A ruined round in your stack that you feed into your mag could potentially jam your gun. The sorting mechanic is likely going to be expanded if anything in that regard. Here's the quote on that and source: https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/229133-status-report-23-sept-2015/ Your statement not to ever use a "doesn't make sense" argument when it comes to logical out comes, quite frankly, doesn't make sense.

So I made a thread a while back about swords and their awful damage. I was unsure how many hits at the time it took to kill some one, but I figured it was similar to the splitting axe since thats what the stats said. I'd hit guys up to three times, and my estimation was it was likely around 5 or so. Any ways, didn't play much of .55, now I'm back with .57. I think we all know the loot situation, but a nice byproduct is swords are common in castles right now. I figured, it is a good time to practice my swordsman skills, and rededicate my life to the blade. I've been having a hard time getting encounters. I played the patch about 13 hours over the past few days and only saw about 3-4 people. I wasn't able to engage any of them with my sword for various reasons. I spent a good amount of time today waiting in ambush at some spots I figured were popular (nwaf tent area, vybor base) with no luck. Finally I got in a fight at the nwaf as pictured above. A 2v2 against a guy with a rak and a guy with the silenced AK, that storm trooper above (my friend had also had a rak, the damage on those is terrible too) who ambushed us. There was a lot of running around and getting shot before I managed to get close enough to try to hit him. I died without landing a blow. Then I got into another fight. This time the guy shot at us, ran about 10-15m and logged out. No idea what he was thinking, but I started wacking him. I counted 15 hits before I just had my friend shoot him. That's him there, the majority of my hits were to his torso, then I started hitting his head. I was just holding my friend's extra gun btw, it is all swords for me. It takes probably upwards of 5 hits to kill a zombie with the sword right now. Oh and you run slower with a melee weapon out than a gun/rifle. I don't understand this, why is it so bad. I'm not giving up yet, but I'm really not hopeful for my next fight =P Posted on the feedback tracker: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=25679

Here's one of my better sword encounters, unfortunately fraps didn't get my mic. I'm just posting this so people can get a sense of the damage. Bear in mind the second guy especially has been shot by a winchestor aside from all the hits I land on him. One thing I've noticed after this fight is that you end up hitting people in the arms a lot which does reduced damage on top of the already shitty damage. By nature of the swing, it's rather difficult to head shot a standing target with the sword. The first unconscious player seems to die relatively quickly to 2 head shots, one presumably breaking the helmet and the second to finish him off so they are definitely viable. Suppose I need more practice =P The very last little clip I just threw in for fun, but it also shows how items on your back can entirely block melee damage. This player had also been sprayed by an AK to unconscious once before this point, brought back up by his friend, then shot again with a winchestor at which point I am finishing him with the sword. So he'd been through multiple gunshots already and still requires about 5-6 torso hits to finish off. Just to be perfectly clear, I do this for fun and the challenge. All of this is less complaining and more feedback/spreading awareness. It's not unique to swords, most melee weapons are complete garbage. I realize the devs haven't bother to touch this stuff yet and it likely won't be till beta but I do feel like they could probably make some minor tweaks to make some things more viable. I'd just really like to see melee become more than finding an axe and disregarding everything else.

It doesn't really make sense that a single round impacting can ruin a stack of ammo. They're loose rounds in a pocket.
