So where have all the Mosins gone?

    Cool, thanks for the tip!
  2. Some hacker just tried to mess with me. He tped to me, forced my gun put away. Tried to act friendly, but what do I want to be friends with a hacker for? So I tried to punch him out since I couldn't keep my gun out. He shot me in the legs and left, so I started crawling to the nearest place for bandages as mine were ruined. He shoots at me a little on the way but I quite frankly didn't care. I've long since stopped being attached to my gear. Got to the building and bandaged/made a splint. He comes back and says something dumb about how we coulda been friends and he would have given me stuff, to which I replied I didn't want his hacked shit. Every time I try to splint he takes the splint out of my hand. Throws my axe on the ground. Still can't pull out the gun so basically nothing I can do at all. He says I'm gonna suffer, but really I was just bored. Told him I was gonna switch servers and he could kill me if he wanted, so I logged out. Decided to take a break instead of actually switching though. I bet he killed me as he didn't seem very creative. Any ways. I don't really get how hackers can force my character to do things, still? Like forcing me to put my gun away, how is that even a thing? I mean I know it's a thing, I've had it happen before, but what I mean is, isn't this exactly what the server architecture is supposed to prevent. Getting pretty sick of it, especially with their attitude any time some one brings up a hack. They denied people could strip you of items when it first started happening too. Then they claimed to fix it, and it came back hardly any time later at all. Why can't they just buy these hacks themselves and then reverse engineer it or something, or at least get a better understanding of what is even going on. If some 12 year old can google this stuff and get all set up, I just don't see how they can't stay on top of it.

So where have all the Mosins gone?

I have a harder time finding mosin ammo than the mosin itself usually.
  4. This was Hicks's response btw in case anyone missed it. Hopefully he's right and it's not a hack but a glitch, but I'm skeptical.
  5. Some more info would be nice, I'd like to know if it's only happening on persistence enabled servers, or any, or what. If people can narrow it down a bit maybe it can be better avoided if it's a glitch and not a hack.
  6. That's a lot more than 40 people? Was this a persistence enabled server or not?

    How to use Bipod

I'd rather see this option than assigned keys as well. I want things to remain some what cumbersome/require some thought.

    September Rant Topic.

The game hasn't been released yet. Also, it's done a whole ton of things that were literally impossible to do in the mod. Can you take off your shoes in the mod? no? Okay. That's not sarcasm, if you can't extrapolate all the other improvements from there, then there's no helping you.

I find the game extremely playable.

    Loot Respawn and Persistent Loot

I'm pretty sure all servers have loot respawn, and then only the official ones have persistence. In the current state of the loot respawn system however, persistence sorta fucks up the respawn mechanic. It means that each restart won't have new loot, and that as long as a certain threshold of items persists in each "zone" then new loot won't spawn either. The result is that if you say, swap out your jacket for one you find, then the threshold is still met and no new loot is going to respawn. Items do despawn after 2 restarts I believe, so every other restart should have new loot I'd imagine but overall, the result is mainly a bunch of trash left behind no one wants, and a shortage of good loot. Some people dig that as it makes scavenging more difficult, but for me personally until they get a few more of the kinks worked out it's not worth playing on persistent servers. Aside from those respawn issues, and actually more of a problem, is they are unstable in general and often crash having tents and such reset.
  11. This forum is 99% pissing in the wind =P It's pretty rare that the devs take notice of anything on here.
  12. I often die multiple times a day, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. After a point a lot of people stop valuing their lives much in DayZ, especially those who regularly pvp. The only way that's going to change is if living longer grants some sort of advantage, which is possible since they've discussed subtle skill systems or developing better immune systems etc. The point I'm making is that item degradation as a means to having to constantly gear up just wouldn't work that well except for those who are super into staying alive currently. Those people definitely exist of course, but I just don't see it being much of a major factor unless a lot of things change. If you make them degrade in a rather short period of time then it just becomes an annoyance, like having to use a weapon cleaning kit every 30 minutes or whatever would be super dull. As for a weapon list, I don't really mind waiting. It's a bit boring to know everything that's going to be in. I wouldn't be terribly fussed if it were released either, but it would be less to look forward to.

suicide button exist? or just a test?

It's not in the game (yet). The video even says it's just stuff from the files. Never actually seen them before though, thanks for sharing.

Base building and secureing your stuff

Have you played Rust? because you could chop down wooden doors easily, and there weren't any passwords involved... Metal doors required c4 though.
  15. One of the reasons they wanted it in is because it will allow them to do things like being able to drag bodies etc. Not saying those are necessarily top priorities either, but it expands future systems they can implement, which is a lot of what these early implementations of systems are about. I do agree however, there's a long list of things I'd rather see addressed, but oh well.
  16. At least they aren't as bad as arma 3 ragdolls I guess.

So where have all the Mosins gone?

lol that's cruel but I love it. They seem rarer lately to me too, but the places you're checking are the ones to look. In my experience you're less likely to find them at the actual military buildings though, such as barracks, jails, atc tents. It's usually the more civilian style ones. Police stations are generally ok too.
  18. I'm just saying, people like that get enjoyment out of making you upset. It goes for normal encounters too, not just hackers. Nothing makes me wanna kill some one more than them giving me excuses as to why I shouldn't when I decide to hold them up instead of killing them straight. Act accepting of it, and don't give them attitude and they're probably more likely to not bother. This guy probably woulda killed you any ways since he sounds like a butthole, but who knows, I've been in the same situation and had guys just leave me alone because they can tell by my tone I really don't care, so there's no fun for them in trying to harass me. Alternatively, your options were to either kill him or log out. I usually just log out from hackers unless I'm in a direct fight, they have hacks to find you any ways so I'd rather take my chances. Last night I encountered a guy flying around who killed my friend, I logged out and he was about 600m away (I was on ostry, he was down at the atc). When I switched servers I was dead, but oh well. Any ways, welcome to the typical day in the life of an average DayZ player.
  19. Telling some one not to kill you is probably the best way to get them to kill you.

    Vehicular Travel.

They've actually hinted that bikes probably won't be first and it will likely be a small car or something instead, which I really hope is true. Hicks mentioned it in a few streams, but we'll see. We already run as fast as bikes, and bikes are extremely solo in terms of gameplay. Vehicles work best as a group goal/tool, so I'd rather see a small car. It's not that solo players should get the shaft, but the only benefit for a solo player with a bike is they get from point A to B faster, where as with a group and a car it opens up more options. Also, if they take the approach they did to guns they should really make the most complex ground vehicles first to get all the systems/mechanics in place. They've stated that's why they chose the m4 as the first weapon to fully implement, and it makes sense. You make the hardest thing first, then everything else is easier. Which I just noticed is what James Hawke said above me.
  21. Saw my first flying guy last night. He had an infinite ammo m4, just spraying constantly, flying through the air and then landing by people and shooting them. Wasn't running fraps unfortunately, but it's nothing that other people haven't seen before any ways, just the first time I've seen it myself.

    DayZ SA Gun Firing Issue.

This happens some times, I think it's just lag/server lag.
  23. Pretty sure it's client side.
