If you're saying you can shoot past the network bubble I'd like to see proof.
-
Well it was probably close to 1000, the hill to the island is about 900 I think so that's an impressive shot!
-
The issue is often things on your face/head stacking. So maybe a helmet alone won't stop a point blank rifle shot, but if you put on a face mask and sunglasses that tiny added protection could mean it does. It's like how it takes 3 mosin shots to kill some one "geared" out because you have to ruin their vest and shirt before you actually end up killing them a lot of times. These items alone might not stop a full round but all combined it adds up to a lot more protection. Like NexVentor says it's a balance issue though and I wouldn't expect it to change any time soon.

1000 is the max, as that's the range of the network bubble.

latest patch feedback (glasses, drinking, bvest, improvS)
Bororm replied to Wookieenoob's topic in General Discussion
Not a fan of the crash I'm getting (that memory leak I guess?) and I think they tweaked trucks a little too hard. They are extremely fast now on all terrain. They were definitely too slow uphill before, but now they are a bit too fast. Oh and all attachments seemed to disappear off guns we had, as well as extras in our packs... The other stuff seems cool so far, haven't played too much yet. -
About 880m from the north western corner of the nwaf to the hanger closest to the firestation I think was my longest one so far.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Bororm replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
They seem like they're back to spawning as soon as they die and reaggroing. It felt like that was gone last patch, or at least tweaked, now it seems back to the shittiness that it was before. Basically infinite zombies, as you kill them they respawn in a radius and auto reaggro. Doors this patch are also more wonky. Last patch it was a lot more reliable to trap zombies, not so much any more as the bug where doors appear to be open that are closed etc is more prevalent. -
What am I missing in the animal ai showcase? Not trying to be snarky =P

Yeah from a gameplay perspective especially there's absolutely no reason why wearing a ghillie in clear weather and not moving should negatively impact your character. That is what they are for.

The more energized you are the less weapon sway, true?
Bororm replied to lucianpin's topic in General Discussion
The time it takes you to drink is probably enough to settle your aim. -
Trucks are super easy to find

Not entirely true, I was wearing a puffy jacket/jeans/bushrag/vest and overheating (mind you I had no shoes or gloves on either), and that was even with all my items of clothing "damp." Swapping out the jacket for a check shirt still lead to me heating up rather than maintaining a temperature, albeit much slower. Even just wearing the hood and a "normal" set up of clothing usually leads to you heating up. They definitely need to tweak the value a little on all the pieces. They need to tweak temperatures in general. There is the downside already that when it rains the pieces get "soaking wet" which is a step above just "wet" like other pieces of clothing. Which can in turn lead to hypothermia instead I'd imagine. I think having it heat up when running around is alright, but slightly less and I think sitting still you should be maintain a reasonable temperature unless you're sitting in the pouring rain. It would be nice if you could break the pieces down without losing resources, or else do something else to store them more effectively. You can't even carry the pieces in your hands currently. So when you are on the move you can pack it up in a reasonable manner. I know a full suit is huge, but there's not much reason why I can't get the hood and rag down to reasonable sizes.

It's a video game and it's fun.

A (Former) Good Guy at the End of his Patience's Rant
Bororm replied to TSGN7's topic in General Discussion
Play however you want but don't blame other people. Their motivations have absolutely nothing to do with you. Your story doesn't even make sense. You helped a guy then got shot in the back by 2 completely different guys. How is the act of you helping some one related to you being shot by a third party? And even if you helped the guy and he himself shot you, then who cares? Go on to the next one. Threads like this just sound so lazy and bitchy. If you can't handle never killing other players, then just do it, but don't act like you fell from grace. It's your choice you're making, no one else's. This game has pvp, you knew that from the start. -
Are long range scopes still in the game in 0.53?
Bororm replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
Don't think that's true! -
You are cold like others have said.

Are long range scopes still in the game in 0.53?
Bororm replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
They've always been more common outside of military areas. -
You didn't but that was whyherro's argument which you were defending.
-
And I just don't find that a useful argument at all. Excluding an item because it weighs too much is idiotic imo. Should Jerry Cans and bags of lime be removed too because who's gonna carry one of those around right? How about full sized shovels, who's gonna carry one of those when they're hiking? Or a sledge hammer? Again, this game isn't hiking lone survivor man simulator. They're adding a weight and stamina system, we'll see how it plays out.
-
Yeah, it's not just restricted to fresh spawns with melee too. That's like, the default state of pvp even between armed players depending on the weapons and circumstances. I made a thread about this and the recent survivor games recently and just how stupid it actually looked to spectate. The final bit was just guys circling each other with mosins and SKSes, and looked ridiculous. We've all been there ourselves. It's bad. Unless you're holding up in a building or are sniping, you basically are best off constantly moving with the current state of the game.
-
I think a good start would be putting a limit on turn speed. Then go from there. A non infinite sprint would probably be the next step. Basically, it should be like arma 2 was.
-
There's no sprinting with any of the common amount of gear people carry in the SA irl for the distances we go either. That whole line of reasoning is goofy, and people take the realism stuff too far imo. The original point was that people are capable of hiking with a lot more than 30 lbs on their back, which whyherro was arguing is too much weight that no one would ever do it. Our characters are already carrying way more than that on average. If they implement a weight system then it could be a drawback, and balance it out.
-
I dunno what game you're playing, or perhaps more worrisome of where you live, but the map is not well kept and clean. There's rubble and destruction every where. The military bases like the tent city near myshinko look like a military was moving in and had time to set shit up then something happened where they had to pull out in a hurry. There's massive graves in all the military bases etc too, indicating they were there for at least a little while. The reality is we don't have a backstory beyond that it takes place after the events of arma 2 in which there was a large military operation and what we have on the map and the items we're being given in game, which all indicate a heavy military presence. There's basically no reason at all to assume there wouldn't be a large amount of military weapons. AKMs in this sort of scenario would be more common than longhorns and blaze rifles, that's for sure (I'm not saying I want them to be, I'm actually pretty happy with current assault rifle "rarity." But I'm saying in a "realism" argument, absolutely there'd be more AKs/assault rifles than the weapons we see). It was/is essentially a warzone. There's even freshly crashed helicopters dropping out of the sky apparently. All we can do is speculate based on what we're shown and what we're shown is a country that recently went to shit, with no people in it, and a large multi-national military presence.
-
I'm sure that's just a training exercise, but I know the coast guard at least employs anti material rifles to stop drug trafficking ships and stuff. Obviously the helicopters in DayZ aren't coast guard (neither is that pic above and I doubt they're training for no reason), but it's not out of the question that you'd find one of these depending on the mission, whether it was to be used on the helicopter itself or for when they got off. What reason would I have for carrying around a 75 round drum AKM if all I care about is weight? Or a machine gun which they've confirmed they will add. It should be an option, why not? If I wanna do it, and it has drawbacks like I can't carry a backpack or if there's a stamina system and my guy suffers for it then that's a choice I can make. It's like saying "why have farming/hunting when you can get cans of food?" The more options the better. Not to mention, the end game is going to be clans with bases and interclan wars. It's great if some people want to play Survival Man, but some people play to pvp. It's a sandbox, everyone can do what they like. I'd love to see one of those old anti tank versions like the pics above. That would be awesome. I think the comparisons to those war torn countries we see today are in line of what a zombie apocalypse would look like. Militaries would most definitely get involved, we see tons of camps around the map in DayZ representing that. People have left, it's gone to shit, it doesn't mean all the supplies went with them. This weird notion that the game ought to be a cold, hungry, cave man simulator where everyone goes back to hunting animals with bows is ridiculous. It should be an option to play that way, but we're looking at a very recent collapse where there's still food on the shelves and there's supplies all over. Do you guys really think the devs added in so many spawn locations for items to just remove 99% of them? I expect loot amounts to reduce, but not to the point of farming and hunting being the only viable options. BTW shelter isn't dire, there's about a million empty apartments in cherno alone I could live in =P

An exploit is exactly that, using a feature/mechanic/part of a game for its unintended purpose. The purpose of the FOV slider isn't to give you an on the go extra zoom/"scope" function. The purpose of the FOV slider is to set your FOV to what's comfortable for you to play with and leave it there. It's an unintended side effect that people have found a way to exploit it to nearly double their zoom. Saying "it's part of the game" is shirking all your own responsibility to essentially not "cheat" just because a loophole was left in the game. Yeah they need to fix it, but in the mean time it isn't an excuse to do it. That is what is called integrity.
