riders jacket....why does it get ruined in one hit?
Bororm replied to gannon46's topic in General Discussion
Riders jacket and bombers jacket have this problem for sure. One zombie hit and ruined. -
It's a sandbox, play however you want at any given time. The mod was full of bandits in hero skins and heros in bandit skins because it's impossible to create a system that accurately reflects such a grey zone. How can you design a system that can distinguish player motivation? Define yourself through your own actions, you don't need a mechanic to do it for you.

Thoughts on the new eating and drinking system?
Bororm replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I personally think it's a bug, but who knows with out a dev telling us what their intention actually is. -
Seems there's a desync issue this patch where a player who is prone might render standing for others. Had this happen earlier today where I saw a guy standing in a pine tree on my screen. My friend killed him but to him the guy was prone (makes more sense, he was sniping at us). Then later in the day I myself was shot behind a ledge that I really shouldn't have been visible behind. I'm hoping for clarification on that one from the guy who killed me, but it seemed very likely to be the same situation. In the video I took I am also bleeding from a couple feet above me, while I'm prone. Much in line with what it would look like if I'd been hit standing. Any ways, I'm going to hopefully get clarification on the second one but either way I think I'll open a bug report. I just wanted to let people know because it's bound to happen to more people. Be aware that even though you may be prone/crouched on your screen you might be standing doing the switch gun animation thing on some one else's.

I think I might have a problem with shotguns...
Bororm replied to emuthreat's topic in General Discussion
How are shotguns lately? I survived a point blank shot with only a ruined shirt and broken arm yesterday. Didn't bleed and I don't think I really took any damage honestly, my color hardly changed if at all. Didn't even damage my vest oddly enough (anti stab vest any ways). -
Thoughts on the new eating and drinking system?

To the people saying it forces you to eat gradually, it doesn't. All it does is make you use the "eat" function over the "eat all" function. Seriously, play the game and test it yourself. It's even easier now to be hydrated/energized than before as it takes less food/drink. That second part isn't bad, it was stupid that you had to eat like 10 cans of food before. The implementation is bad though because there is now no reason for the "eat all" and "drink all" functions. It only takes like 1-2 cans of food and 1-2 water bottles now to be green hydrated/energized. There's even less incentive now to carry extra food and water. It would be nice if the devs would just tell us what their intention is, because overall it's a stupid change. I think you need to L2P because you'd realize that as stated above, it takes even less effort now to get hydrated/energized and be "done for the day" -
It is almost like the game was created with the 3rd person mode being the default...

Is showing a players name through check pulse intentional? Especially when they are still conscious.
Bororm replied to iConnorN's topic in General Discussion
There should be some way to do it, at least when people are dead. I don't mind it as it is now, but if a more complex system were introduced like some suggestions above it would be cool. -
Don't think they're in, been through tents on multiple restarts and yet to see any or encounter anyone with them.

Shoving it down our throat vs encouraging players
Bororm replied to S3V3N's topic in General Discussion
The blood change was stupid. It takes twice as much and gives twice as much. Some people used it before by taking their own blood, but hardly anyone did because you don't want to bother regening that lost blood and you might as well use a saline. Now you have to regen twice as much blood (2k out of what, 5k total? cut your life nearly in half for the time it takes to regen?) and regen was reduced and the healthy status is more annoying now. Good luck with that change. All it does is encourage you to steal other people's blood if anything, and no ones gonna bother with that either because you need 2 blood test kits. They should change blood bags but this was a poorly thought out method of doing so. -
Thoughts on the new eating and drinking system?

And again you are missing my entire point. Right now the outcome of eating 3 cans of food (again I'm making up numbers, but i think this is close) spaced over a few minutes by using the "eat" function instead of "eat all" is that you gain the energized status. It probably takes less than a few minutes honestly, but the point is it takes only marginally longer than using "eat all." But the outcomes of these 2 things are completely different. Using eat all results in you becoming stuffed but not energized. Using eat results in you becoming energized and stuffed. It's the same amount of food in a minimal amount of difference in time. What's that tell you? To me it says that in all likelihood using eat all is resulting in eating only one actual portion and giving you the same amount of "stuffed." This isn't trying to replicate digestion and if it is it's the worst fucking way to do it. This doesn't encourage you to eat slowly over an extended period of time. It encourages you to use one function over the other. This is not a step in the right direction unless their goal is to simply cause annoyance. If they wanted you to fill up and digest they could simply make it so you gain stuffed status which transforms into energized/hydrated. -

Except that again, the current system is not reflecting this idea at all. So no, it is not a "step in the right direction." A step in the right direction (assuming the goal is to replicate digestion) would be introducing a slow burn on food you consume, where you gain a stuffed status that shifts into an energized/hydrated status. Not eating the same exact amount of food in two different speeds that are literally the difference between minutes having incredibly different outcomes. Have you guys actually played with this patch. Here is the scenario once again (I'm going to make up numbers here): 1) you are "hungry" status and use "eat all" on 3 cans of food and lose your hungry status (not gaining energized) while gaining a yellow stuffed status or 2) you are "hungry" status and use "eat" on 3 cans of food and gain energized status while not gaining stuffed status. This takes only a few minutes more than using the eat all option. It is insanity to think this is a step in the right direction or a good representation of what it's like to spread out meals over a day. The devs up to this point have implemented complex mechanics for multiple systems, why would you think they would half ass such a shitty system now? -

Bororm replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
Let's pretend for a minute that the devs were trying to accomplish what gibonez is suggesting, that essentially they want to replicate digestion. This doesn't make any sense in the current gameplay because the amount you eat doesn't slowly reduce your hunger/thirst in any way. You simply have a smaller capacity. Eating to the point of being stuffed right now will result in you still maintaining a thirsty/hungry status that will degrade not improve over time. I really don't think the devs are this dumb that they were trying to replicate a more "realistic" eating scenario with this change and I that's why I really hope this was a bug. -

Bororm replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I don't believe gibonez actually plays the game honestly. He makes a lot of posts that are extremely out of touch with the actual reality of gameplay. He is the only member of this forum I have on ignore, although it still shows me his posts, just hidden, and I can't help but look at them sometimes (because I'm dumb) defeating the purpose =P -
That kinda stuff is fine but if this implementation was intentional for that purpose it's basically the most ridiculous way to go about it. It doesn't make any sense that eating the same amount of food by using the slower option should result in a different outcome than using eat all. It's the same amount of food. I am extremely doubtful the devs were trying to replicate negative effects of eating too fast irl with this or something else along those lines. How does it make any sense that I can vomit from drinking too much water before becoming hydrated from a pump/pond? Any ways, just don't use the eat/drink all options and don't drink directly from water sources and it's avoidable but it doesn't change the fact that it's funky.

Please explain to me how it's fine that you can become stuffed to the point of throwing up before becoming either energized or hydrated. -
Nope, sorry. They fucked up the mechanic. It seems that potentially the issue might be that "eat all" consumes the entire can but only gives you the benefit of a single "eat" action. Using eat instead of eat all seems to work a little better, but then drinking directly from a fountain or pond accomplishes about the same effect of instantly making you stuffed while not giving you the hydrated status. I'd imagine doing "drink" instead of "drink all" from a container might be the answer to getting hydrated without getting stuffed. Either way, it's messed up and almost assuredly not intentional.

Bororm replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I'll give this a try next time I play. If that's true it may be a bug in that "eating all" only actually eats the amount from "eat" but does the stuffed value of a full eat all. -

Bororm replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
The issue is that you can't really build them up without throwing up. Or you can get energized green but be forever thirsty etc. Because unless you perfectly strike the balance, you are going to be stuffed to the point of another food/drink making you vomit. Some times it seems to actually be preferable to vomit and start over honestly. If I had to guess I'd say that's exactly the problem, that your stomach can now only hold enough to be perfectly balanced with food/drink and tipping either over the scale just dooms you to never hitting that balance unless you start over. -

Bororm replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I really hope it's a bug, because it sucks. You can throw up without even being hydrated or energized at all. The only way the tiny stomach capacity would work well is if food and water were actually more realistic in how long they kept you going. If eating 1-2 entire cans of beans and a bottle of water would actually keep you energized for a few hours then it'd be ok. Right now you have to eat a can every few minutes instead and still be hungry/thirsty. -
You guys know dayzdb has a built in ranging thing right, you don't need to estimate so much haha

Use whatever you prefer! The 16:9 is the "correct" one though.

I think you are mistaken, it was removed in .53. I know it didn't work for me or my group at all last patch. It seems it wasn't in the official change log but it was here in this unofficial one http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2siz3w/53_115_unofficial_experimental_changelog/ And on the dayz wiki http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Changelog#v0.53.126384_.284_Feb_2015.29

Stone knife was removed from suicide purposefully I believe. It was in one of the patch notes. I think they didn't want it that easy to kill yourself on the coast, although drowning is just as easy.
-
Suicide is broken, my friend tried with a screwdriver and it didn't work. You hold it to your neck and click and nothing. Last patch I suicided with a screwdriver so I know it's possible. Either that or the mechanic has changed and requires a different button/action?
