  1. Unless they fixed the spread on it, which they very well may have as I only tested it very early on, then firing two shots was wildly inaccurate.

    Sword damage worse than ever

    Lol, true.

    Problems with accuracy on Winchester?

I'm not an expert and I'm sure Gews or some one else will give a better explanation but basically the scope isn't meant to be zeroable. It's adjusted to a specific range and the indicators on it are for quick zeroing to the other ranges. It's more convenient than trying to adjust it manually, you've already got the ones you'll likely be using marked out. The center chevron is 400 then 500 600 700 (or whatever the case, I'm not familiar with the kashtan). Ideally the 400 (center) mark is good for anything from 0-400m because the bullet doesn't actually arc that much, but as Gews pointed out the SA has funky trajectories (the mod was a lot better about this). Then if you wanna shoot something at 600 you just use that chevron/marker. Here's a quick chart from the mod that might help better illustrate http://i.imgur.com/qsyNVL9.png Scopes like the SVD's have built in range finders. The acog also functions that way with the horizontal lines roughly lining up with the shoulder width of the target. I'd imagine being able to zero with the acog currently is something that will be removed. Any ways the general idea is that you aren't fucking around zeroing, and just quickly finding range/adjusting.

    Problems with accuracy on Winchester?

I mean the added magnification from an acog is useful regardless, even at short ranges. It fits the acog because of the rail system so it makes sense. It's only a good thing if it is down to personal preference on what sight you wanna use on something like an mp5. It's boring when there's one clear "best" optic. As to the OP, try moving up to the zombies and see if they do fall over. That's been a long time thing that I remember. But they are always fucking around with weapon stats so I wouldn't be surprised if they're bugged too.

Plate Carriers - How to Repair?

Not entirely true, all the vests provide protection. It doesn't offer any more than any other supposedly (have yet to see hard evidence of that), but it does provide protection in having another layer of clothing.

    Compass?

I navigate chernarus without a compass all the time. The sun works, and you can develop a general sense of direction easily once you become familiar with the map. You could already check the direction on the compass in the inventory screen before, without pulling it out. I think if they're going to make things "convenient" (dumbed down/streamlined/"easy"/whatever you wanna call it) they should at least restrict it to the inventory screen. That way there's still some sort of consequence for doing it, in reducing your mobility/grabbing your focus etc.

    Compass?

Realism is not the same as simulation. Rocket was pretty set on making dayz a simulator, and arma was built around simulation. Both have diverged a lot though. ArmA 3 has become a lot less of a sim than arma 2 was and the SA is obviously branching that way as well. I mean the compass is a perfect example of this. Simulation is having to put the compass in your hands and look at it. Allowing you to simply see direction from it on your hotbar is a very gamey feature in comparison. They also wanted no UI originally, and now they're doing mock ups. Similarly, ammo counts were never supposed to be a thing but there isn't any talk of removing them at this point. The list goes on, but they're heading in the game rather than sim direction for sure. Yes DayZ was supposed to be more simulation than game originally.

    Few questions?

I got healthy status. It just takes a while. If you got really beat up you'll need to keep healing bright green for a decent amount of time to recover all that health. Healthy just means you're full up if I'm not mistaken, so you were still healing. Carrying two weps is essentially a "bug" resulting from the way inventory works, particularly the hand slot, and not really intended. There's no way to carry two weapons (that don't fit in inventory obviously) without having to drop one to perform other actions. Dunno about the trees.

    Compass?

It's supposed to be a simulator :[ That was the original goal any ways, though I feel they are slowly moving away from that. That actually makes me kinda sad if it just shows on the hotbar now. I never use the compass because I don't have much use for it, but I feel like they could have just done it another way. Like being able to bring it up in one hand, while keeping your gun out, and just having it more responsive to bring out/put away.

    Overlooked spot?

Spent a lot of time across a few servers of varying population at the nwaf today and didn't see a single person. I did encounter 2 players at the vybor mil base though, or more specifically the hill. Unfortunately one shot at the other and they both took off before I could get close enough to engage, and then one of them got in a truck and drove off. Maybe I'll have to go check the coastal towns, but kinda wanted to avoid that mess. I guess I'm just being unlucky. It sucks because I wanna practice my swordsman skills while swords are plentiful =P
  11. Usually items like this pop into the vicinity as mookie says. Check outside the building you were in especially, or up/down a floor etc. The inventory is really messed up right now though, so I wouldn't be surprised if things straight up disappear.

    Overlooked spot?

I'll check into that. Haven't seen anyone at them yet but haven't really stuck around them long. Didn't realize they were static right now. Thanks!

    Overlooked spot?

Sorry to diverge but didn't wanna make a new thread and this seemed close enough. Where are people finding action these days? I spent the last couple days in the west (zeleno/green mountain/myshkino base/vybor base/nwaf) and ran into 1 single player. Where's the hot spots any more, as it seems wrecks as mentioned are basically more enticing than military buildings and the wrecks are all over the place.

Has the Shotgun been Buffed or Nerfed Recently?

I've seen shells in deer stands if that helps. For some reason the SA hates the shotguns.

    Hunting Backpack

Some randomness is good but things should be found for the most part where you'd expect them to be. Finding military loot in military buildings, tools in tool sheds etc. Seems like your issue is more with server hopping though. I think the server design is pretty shit for this kinda game honestly, especially once persistence and base building and that sorta stuff becomes a main thing. The only nice part about being able to move between servers is keeping a fresh/varied population, but there's so many drawbacks that I think they should have just done away with it from the start. Fortunately there's a way around that in the form of private shards. Metagaming does suck though, but there's no real way around that.

I have got to be the unluckiest player in DayZ

I think people also get frustrated when they try to play a certain way, and only that way. Trying to be friendly 100% of the time is a recipe for disaster. There's some people who can handle that, and I applaud them, but there's nothing wrong with just playing how you feel in the moment. DayZ isn't black and white, it's a grey zone. I KOS a lot, I'm friendly a decent amount, it's whatever the situation warrants or how I feel. I don't believe in the attitude like BeefBacon's above, which I see a lot, where people complain about KOS then say they're turning to it because "fuck it." If you wanna be friendly, do it and accept the consequences, if you don't there's no shame in that. Have fun for yourself first and foremost, it's just a game after all!

I have got to be the unluckiest player in DayZ

Haha, it's a start. I'm not saying you have to rob the guy, you just need to control it. In that situation you could have started a conversation with him. Admittedly I play in a group so it's easier, but I think with enough practice you could pull it off solo. It's not going to be 100%, some people are never gonna wanna play along. But the way you talk to people after that initial hold up goes a long way. My tips are: -Don't ever handcuff/bind some one. You don't want to restrain the person, especially in your case if you aren't robbing them. I just tell people to put their gun away, or at least lower it. On numerous occasions people tell me they will give me their gun, and I tell them I don't want it. Let them keep it, it makes them feel safer, just make sure they aren't pointing it at you. Lower yours too once things settle down, don't put it away though. -Your tone/voice again goes a long way. If some one holds me up and its obvious they don't know what they're doing/they're making a stupid fake voice/they're a little kid/whatever I'm not going along with that. Talk like a normal person, be calm. -Expect it to go wrong, but don't care. If you die, oh well. If you get a cool experience out of it, great! Expect them to betray you, it's not a surprise that most people will. This goes back to your attitude as well, if you're resigned to it people can tell. A lot of people who are jerks and kill you for "no reason" are really doing it to get a rise out of you, so don't give them the opportunity. -Make it fun for them. You don't have to be goofy or have some thing planned out, but just give them a reason to talk to you. It's why I don't like restraining or disarming people, that's no fun to be on the receiving end of, even if it does turn out well. Offer them stuff, make it a positive experience. This is already your goal since you aren't trying to rob people. If they want nothing to do with you just let them go on their way. Don't try to force it. Again, always expect that they'll probably turn on you but don't let it influence your attitude, just take precautions (which is where being competent at killing people is helpful).

I have got to be the unluckiest player in DayZ

If you want to have non-fatal encounters you need to be the one to control the situation. You can't rely on other people to play that way. You should get good at pvp first, then make it happen yourself if that's the experience you want. You should be the guy with the gun, getting the drop on the other guy. It's all in your approach as well though, people can tell by your tone if it's not worthwhile to play along. There's no incentive to "play nice" unless the person is already inclined that way. So it's up to you to create that incentive.

    Ping and desync indicators removed?

Would be nice if it showed for yourself, but there was a lot of meta gaming potential with seeing other people's desync at least. I'm fairly confident you could tell if anyone was within your network bubble/how far they are by their desync. And you could also potentially tell anyone on the server in a vehicle by it too. But yeah, seeing your own is nice to know. Especially when servers get choppy and you want to confirm with your friends if it's just you or not.

    World containers?

I'm hoping world containers play a major role in base building/barricading. I'd like to see base building become basically taking over a building, barricading it to make it "secure" with the containers (cabinets/fridge/whatever) being the major loot storage places for players. Potentially with some form of locks (breakable/counter-able) for added security. Then expanding said building into the heart of your compound/camp by constructing basic fencing/walls with an area for farming/tents/vehicles etc. That's the direction I'd like to see it go any ways, since I think there's a lot of potential already there and it gives more meaning to the millions of buildings they've added.

    Multi-Person Mechanics to discourage KOS

Shaking apple trees is hilarious/amazing, I would love if they did that. I think the medical system still has more potential, like needing another player eventually to set bones etc. Basically have the limp animation until you actually get some one to help you (or wait long enough, since yeah, lone wolf shouldn't really be fucked).
  23. Finally implemented, like all the weirdos always wanted.

Plate Carriers - How to Repair?

Where do you find plate carriers this patch? Haven't seen any yet. It's dumb that the attachable pouches don't fit in to any backpacks/vests (maaaybe the leather vest) because of their weird shape. Making it basically impossible to carry them around till you find the plate carrier itself.
