DayZ has always been this way, even in the mod. No where is guaranteed 100% and there are dry spells at the biggest hot spots, but they are still very popular. Some times you have to wait an hour, some times you wait 10 minutes. I guarantee if you stick around the nwaf and myshkino base you will eventually find action though.

How exactly can i get an m4 without killing someone?
Bororm replied to Kiwiyellow5's topic in General Discussion
server hop or loot cycle is what i assume everyone does, since i've never seen one spawn myself. -
armbands dont mean anything to me

I think one of the biggest mistakes they made was mislabeling it as permadeath to begin with. There's nothing permanent about it, you just respawn. You aren't making a new character or anything. Full loot drop would be a better descriptor. Any ways, I appreciate that some people want that hardcore experience but it hasn't been the reality of the game since the start. So I suppose the best workaround for people searching for that is your approach Grimey, of just imposing the rule on yourself that you can't go back to your own body.

My group is the exact opposite, we don't miss the zombies at all and love this patch =P

Yeah DayZ in general is pretty obscure about how to do anything. Personally I like that about it, finding things out either through trial and error or word of mouth is better than tutorials and in game pop up info plastered all over the place. Every now and then it can be difficult though. I'll point out another kinda weird thing with the inventory of trucks. If you don't have the room for the item in your own inventory, you can't take items from the truck into your hands. At least in my experience. So if you're trying to pull out a melee weapon, but have one already on your back, you have to drop that one first. Likewise, if you're trying to just grab an item in your hands and don't have the slots for it to potentially fall into in your inventory, you have to make space. I think you can possibly just drop them to the ground first too. It seems true for most items except those that are exceptionally large like barrels.
-
Yep. They attach to the truck, rather than being in the inventory slots. There's occasions where the truck is essentially destroyed/the engine is damaged and it won't start. But in your case it sounds like only the one by the tree would potentially be that way.
-
I think double carrying should be a burden, like it already is. As to the truck comment, put it in the truck inventory. Assume you're already carrying your shouldered primary on your lap because who wants to sit against their rifle?

cherno/elektro/berezino and nwaf/myshkino tents

m4 attachments matter and do various things.
-
the jail buildings are basically broken, they don't spawn any loot.
-
This has been discussed but the problem is then you just put lone wolves at a disadvantage and groups have an even bigger one. I might not be able to loot my body but my buddies sure can for me.
-
It's a bit too short imo. 10 mins is hardly enough time to clear an area in group fights.
-
I don't really like the idea personally. They did this in Rust and it's sorta bleh. Here it sounds like we're going to need a gas mask at the very least. The problem with DayZ and stuff like that is inventory is at a premium, I don't want to carry a gas mask around to go to some where like a mil base. I hope these contaminated areas aren't any of the major "hotspots" and it's limited to just a few special areas. For instances those tunnel/underground areas in the north eastish, that would be a good place to make contaminated and put something in there worth looting.

I know it's rare to get a dev response but I'm reaaaally curious why this was even done, since it is a total flip on what they initially said was the goal.

M4/AK101 at Heli Spawns: Can Anyone Confirm?
Bororm replied to Skoalcom's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much everyone because fights end up being sub 50 meters apart the majority of the time, unless you're sniping. The standalone has a serious lack of mid range engagements for multiple reasons. Weapon sway and an abundance of ammo with high capacity mags, combined with high sprint speeds, increased cover potential and general closer range engagements mean that you might as well hip fire out a full mag and likely score a couple lucky shots rather than taking your time to actually aim. -
Make the ghillie process more elaborate if the issue is balance. I still disagree they are overpowered though. They overheat you like crazy, you can't use a backpack, you basically increase your profile by 50%, they only really work at a certain sweet spot and you have to be prone, because anyone crouched or standing in one is just a giant mass. I mean there's work arounds for these things, like jumping in ponds and cramming them in backpacks, but it's still a lot of effort for something that isn't even that great. The team really doesn't seem to care a lot about balance in anything else, so I really don't think that's the point here. I think they just thought making more dynamic spawns would be interesting, but tying this particular item to it was a mistake imo. When netting was really common people still hardly made ghillies. For the vast majority of people they are not worth the effort because they are not op.
-
It's actually not very "potent" at all due to the way characters render in. There's a reason hardly anyone bothers, besides the spawning dynamic being stupid. Your opinions are super cute though. I don't server hop, but covering 1/3rd of the coast and not seeing a single boat spawn, because apparently looking at this map now (https://i.imgur.com/HyrzjT9.jpg) there are only 4 spawns on the southern coast, actually makes me rather hop. Why should I have to run all the way east from Komorovo to find netting of all things? It makes sense that advanced military weaponry is restricted to dynamic events, it doesn't make sense that one of the most common items in the world is only found in 4 random spots (that don't potentially spawn at all) on over 1/3rd of an entire coast line.
-
They spawn on dynamic boat spawns now. I think it's sorta lame. I went along a good portion of the coast and didn't see a single boat spawn. Netting isn't exactly rare in reality. There should be some potential static spawns too like docks or something.

Rain isn't that big of a deal but I do hate how wearing certain clothing is just basically pointless. I used to like to always wear check shirts, now if I do and I'm running around in the sun I still get cold and eventually the shakes. It just ends up being boring. In general the clothing options are super boring because the military stuff is just flat out better than everything else, and since people are robots they just go for whatever has the most slots/best "stats." The end result is 90% of people are running around in military stuff and look nearly identical. It might be realistic but it's snoozers.
-
I haven't tested it but it may be to do with how it is actually a projected crosshair as well. Perhaps it's projecting on the door as if it were shut, even when it's open. This is actually another point I forgot to mention with how silly it is. It is actually projected out rather far, you can move it over trees and such in the distance to see what I'm talking about.
-
That's pretty impressive shooting even with the crosshair like that haha. Good demonstration of how ridiculous they are though. I liked playing the mod with them off, but I can appreciate if some people like them on. Personally I don't find them necessary, even for picking up items. You quickly get a feel for the center of your screen. A server option would work best. That really should be the go to for subjective changes to the game, just make them server options.

There needs to be the ability to pull unconscious or dead players out of vehicles. Currently there is no way to help an unconscious friend who in a vehicle, you can't bandage them or administer aid. Getting in a vehicle and occupying the same seat kicks dead players out (have not tested on unconscious) but that is more of a glitch than a feature. It is also not useful if you don't have the required amount of players to fill the available seats (for instance the back of a truck, the upcoming bus etc). The ability to administer aid/interact with a player who is in a vehicle without them needing to get out (provided you have direct access to them) would be nice as well.
