    I can't seem to find any public hive servers as of last night and today. I heard that the reason they went down was due to HFB servers going under. Sucks, cause I was getting into v1.8.1 vanilla and had a good operation going. Anybody know if there are any public hive servers up?

    First post in a while! Anyway, I've been having some pretty severe FPS problems lately. Don't know if it's just optimization issues or what, but i've been averaging 30fps in the wilderness, and 15-20 in cities. Relevant Specs: i5-3570k @ 3.4 ghz 2x GeForce GTX 660 (sli) 8GB RAM My friends have usually been getting around 40-50 fps with their settings on medium. I even put everything on very low and I'm still only averaging 20fps in cities. No idea why, my FPS is 60+ in all my other games. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Yeah, the thing was: when I first installed it ran perfectly, and the performance has degraded over time. Idk why.

    Well this thread is certainly giving me a hernia(Alienware's, Mac's, prebuilt's, oh my!). Anyway's, ARMA 2 is very CPU-intensive, so I guess shoot for the 2.4 GHz model? Sorry, but I can't really recommend either of them. Even though you're not a 'hardcore' gamer, it might be worth just building a medium range rig to run a good range of games on. Also if you care about OSX that much, then run Hackintosh of of it.

    Didn't read the rest of the comments, just wanted to say to OP: The reason DayZ is so successful is because it doesn't appeal to the masses. People are tired of easy, casual games.

    Also vehicle experiences are very short-lived, to my knowledge hackers can see their positions.

    There isn't really a fix to this problem, there is no way to detect whether it was self-defense or not...avoid other players?

    The destroyed buildings are either rocket launchers or satchel charges. As for forest fires, I don't know.

    Play on low population servers people, it isn't a hard concept, but apparently it can't get forced through your thick skulls. I play on low-medium population since first starting DayZ, and I've only been a victim of a hacker ONCE, and I didn't even lose anything/die.

    You missed mine, I'm saying that BF3 doesn't run well on PS3 at all. I have several friends who are console gamers who own both, and they think it's a terrible game experience. To answer yours, you are right that you cannot find/build a PC under 190 that will run. I respect that most console gamers either don't have the money, time, or technical knowledge to build/operate a PC. That's why they go to console.

    Ahem, you forgot 'well'. Consoles run BF3, but not well. Sure, consoles can run BF3, but they can't run it as good as PC's. I have BF3 on PC, runs flawlessly on Ultra, with the 64 player battles, all the things PC's get, etc. Console: Reduced map size, poor controls, reduced player count in matches, lower graphical capabilities, etc. I can go on.

    PC needs to reclaim its status as the top gaming platform. Consoles for the most part are dumbing down the games, among other things. I believe the last true PC game was Crysis. Why can't DayZ just stay on PC? It will probably suck on console anyway.

    There are a lot of girls on the internet, you just don't see them because they aren't as open as guys on the internet. Besides, if girls make an appearance, all the oversexed 12 year olds make her uncomfortable and leave. I have a friend IRL who's on steam, who I tried to get interested in TF2 (FTP) but she told me no because she thinks she's crap at video games.

    Technical limitations, not enough buttons on a controller, etc. Sorry, no. Also, why not build a PC? You can build a great computer for a 1/3rd of the price from buying one.
