    Player Model Customization?

You can customize your character, to a certain extent. Launch ARMA 2: OA, go to player profile, choose yours, click edit, there you go. I myself have some black shades with red lens.

    Empty Barracks - completely empty...

A bug with logging in, I think. I disconnected in a barracks once, started playing again a couple hours later, and when I re-logged on a different server there was absolutely no loot. So: 1. Someone completely cased it out. (Unlikely, although possibly with a large group.) 2. Sometimes loot doesn't spawn if you come into a server within a certain distance. (Likely.)
  3. ...no. That is why I made this thread. The version is 1.7.2.4. Camo's are back. I found a ghillie. It ate my backpack. This glitch isn't fixed.

    Is this a starving game?!

Food isn't too hard to find, if you know where to look. Supermarkets really aren't that dangerous, I don't know where you got that info. The only player I've ever found in a supermarket was dead, and before my friend and I came in too.

    A noob unfriendly game.

I'll sum it up in 2 short sentences: This is supposed to be a noob unfriendly game. Get good, deal with it.

    Spawn without a backpack.

A bullet fired from a sniper rifle would probably pass right through Kevlar. I doubt anyone who gets hit with a .50 cal bullet just staggers back.
  7. If they did, it's back. I've already lost one ALICE from the backpack-eating ghillie suit.

    Legit or Hacked

I'm afraid not, I had the gold revolver for days, fired it, used it, and was never banned. As long as you do not hack it in yourself, using the gun is fair game.

    Worst Game Experience ever

Actually in the newest patch, zombies seem to lose interest very fast. It could be a bug, not sure. My friend and I aggroed about 6 of them, then 3 minutes later they started walking off in separate directions, even though we never broke LOS.

UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers

While you have a great idea...I find there's one issue with it. I sometimes am on the rooftops of the city, and I climb up there for a good vantage point, to see if there's anyone else in the city, or any action going on. I can use my binoculars up there. No doubt you would just shoot me, assuming that I am a player-killer.

    Legit or Hacked

It is hacked, but you don't have to get rid of it. You are allowed to use it if you didn't hack it. A hacker once made a gold revolver appear in my inventory. Ok, thanks buddy. (Too bad I died and now it's gone.)

    Day Z going to shit?

I think Corpsi is trolling. The 'flush' command actually does work, and all I did was tweak my settings and it was fixed.

    Bad Graphic Glitches..anyone else?

The glitch isn't really that bad, all I did was change my shadow setting to high, then back to what I had it at before (normal) and it was fine. Try going into settings and just flipping something on and off again. Worked for me.

    Worst Game Experience ever

Play on Veteran if you want realism, with map tracking disabled, no crosshairs, and no 3rd person. Zombie pathing and AI is like an eel, you could be aiming at one directly, then it will slip to the left and right. Just got to avoid them or learn them.

    DayZ FOR XBOX 360!!

I didn't even read the 6 pages of "no", I just skipped to the end and made this post. No. Do you even realize how many controls ARMA 2 has? Not possible on a controller. ARMA 2 engine is a struggle for medium-end PC's even, it will cause consoles to explode.

Don't shoot! I'm friendly! -holds hands up-

The issue with the surrender button is that enemies think you gave up, instead of insisting your friendly, even if you say so over mic or chat. If there's someone we don't trust, one of us will hide in a bush, and draw the guy shooting at us up where we are, then we kill him.
  17. After seeing all these threads complaining about the difficulty of DayZ, I have decided to create this thread, hoping to enlighten all the players suffering from butthurt or noobitis. ... Call it whatever you wish, DayZ is a true game. A game which takes players back to the glory days of gaming, which challenges the player to experiment and create new ways to defeat difficult challenges and puzzles. Upon completion of said objectives, the player was rewarded in a lucrative way to keep them going, and it made the game fun. You were able to play the game to your liking, grind for best times, who cared about graphics! The best games had storylines, deep enriching tales which sucked you into the game world, creating tension and an unrivaled atmosphere. Unfortunately...the next generation was starting to be able to use technology, and thus the storm clouds gathered. Developers became corrupted, and the gaming world took a plunge downward. They realized, that rather than making enjoyable games to a smaller market, it was easier to create a simpler, linear game experience which the kids were able to comprehend, much to the dismay of older gamers. Franchises such as the Call of Duty series were ruined, devolving from story-driven singleplayer games into carbon copy, unlockable items, same engine game, EVERY year. Consoles became more prevalent, due to their low cost and accessibility, which made it easier for kids to operate. The rift continued to grow between the gamers of old and new, and the middle class of gaming, is now virtually gone. Hardly any longer do you have hardcore PC gamers take a break and play console, or hardcore console gamers playing a custom PC. The industry further beat down the PC gaming market by developing games with consoles in mind, hurriedly making PC ports to appease the small market of PC gaming. Unfortunately, the half-assed efforts of such ports further destroy good gaming and increase the rift in-between. Now don't get me wrong, some games and companies have managed to stay on the path of fun gaming...kind of. Take Deus Ex: Human Revolution for example. A truly glorious game, but even it suffers from the cancer of pre-rendered take down scenes from modern video games. So, in the Dark Age of mindless gaming, and the increase of console gamers, what savior comes along? DayZ. Yes, believe it. This game has cracked the dark glass of gaming. Finally, a true game experience where challenge is there, and is ready to beat you down, wear you to pieces, and spit you out. And the best part is, you want more, because it is a fun, engaging experience which takes you back to the roots of gaming, where the fun was a non-linear, no help, and definitely a no favor route. So to the players who believe DayZ is bad because it is hard: man up! Life will not give you everything on a silver platter, so de-program yourselves! Challenge yourselves! Get friends interested, and play a true game, one which takes skill and experience to complete, rather than pressing buttons. The glass has cracked, so to speak, of the current age of gaming. The web of cracks expand ever farther, slowly leaking light which is the glory of older, truer gaming experiences. ... And so concludes my very large sermon. If you find the things I presented offensive, and you wish to support the dark age of gaming by burying your head's in the sand and flaming my thread, go ahead.

Which Laptop will run the game better?

I have a laptop that I use when I'm away, but it's a bit out of your budget. Don't ever buy an Alienware, please.
  19. chunkeymonkey79

First tries at DayZ (not a rant ;)

If you're newly spawned, you have hardly anything to lose, so Rambo the nearest town or city, sprint through it all to find the goodies, and then get out of there. Then once you have adequate supplies (supermarkets) you can head north to upgrade your gear.

My fellow players, a revelation which has occurred to me:

What you say there is true. Think of the movie the Incredibles. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember someone telling Mr. Incredible that the "golden days" are over, but who knows. I know they won't come back, and occasionally gems will sparkle, and bring us back. Also, I don't think I said that the middle class is gone, just dwindling, if I did, my mistake.
  21. I only went there in the daytime once...once. Never go there, and I'll never go back.

Zombies only spawn once, taking over towns!

Kind of on the fence with this. I do hate when I come into view of an enterable building in a city/town, with no zombies in sight, then all of a sudden 10 zombies spawn and come out of the side of the building, shambling towards me.

    Computer Antivirus

Erm, what? My friend's dad is a security freak (he thinks that opening up a random web page will give you a virus...), and even he doesn't have that many programs.

    Best place to steal/find cars

My friend and I hit at least 10 different vehicle spawns, without a single one. It's kind of annoying how people hoard them.

    Servers not showing up?

My friend and I are using sixlauncher (thinking about DayZ commander), and it says there was an update, so we downloaded it, and now the server browser is completely empty. Went through sixupdater, everything, and when the launcher is open, the servers appear for a split second then disappear. New update bug? EDIT: Wrong section, sorry.
