Hi there. I really need to get a performance boost in DayZ. I don't have a very good computer, but many games that I have been told "You will not be able to play this, buy a new computer!" I was able to play completely fine. Some ideas I've had... - DirectX 8 mode? - Modifications - Lower polycount (using long range models up close) - Lower resolution (to a degree, you need eyes in DayZ lol) - Anything else oh my god please help me oh my To clarify, I am completely fine with my characters looking like THIS. But this isn't true... As a test, I set my view distance to 0 and joined a server and I was invisible. So was everything else, but still, it worked. Right now I don't know the difference between Viewdistance and Objectviewdistance, so my VD is 1000 and my OVD is 3000 I think.

No frames? I have both of the settings set to 1 instead of 0... should I change that?

I can play the game, I just need better performance. At this point, being in a city is unplayable. At Factory (the only place I ever spawn FUCK) I get around 12-15 fps.

I can run anything on the Source Engine at 30-60 fps stable. Who said I can barely run other games?

I think in the Standalone everytime you die, a menu appears after the "YOU HAVE DIED" screen, with two buttons saying "Express" or "Custom". In these steps, you get to choose your clothing, gender, skin color and trait. Express mode randomly chooses your gender, skin color and set of clothes, yet you must still select a trait. Traits are as follows: Exmil: You spawn with a random pistol and five clips. PvP damage does 25% less damage with the starter pistol. Survivor: Your needs all take twice as long to become fatal. Retriever: You run 25% faster when you have nothing equipped. Chemist: You can craft blood bags from corpses. Scavenger: Zombies will always drop an item, and it will be 50% rarer than usual. Explorer: Spawn with a map and compass. Bandit: Start with 50% less blood, but deal 25% more damage. Adrenaline: Need to constantly take drugs or medical supplies to ensure top physical condition. Higher than normal stats. Temperature has a smaller effect. Extremist: Can carry more without a bag. Move 25% slower. EDIT: Also, another idea I had: You shouldn't be able to abort a server when other players are around. Exceptions: You can do this once a day, in case of a situation, like you ACTUALLY NEED TO LEAVE, YOU'RE LATE FOR WORK.

( considered cheating by some) Go into your ARMA Addons folder and delete short grass, and if that doesn't increase FPS, delete tall grass. Tall grass hides ghillie suits and sometimes is considered cheating, but I have a horrid PC and only deleting small grass gave me a 20+ fps boost.

Regarding In-Game chat... Add Walkie-Talkies or Radios to the game. Problem solved! :D Regarding Silent Kills... Silent Kills should result in an instant death every time. If using a gun, you should either choke them with the barrel, or bash them with the butt. Choking them would cause their voice communication to be altered, so if they said "Help! Someone is choking me!" it would come out "HEE... SOM-M... GEH ME!!!" If you were to bash them, they would scream and junk, but their voice communication would become much quieter. Using a knife, you should be able to get up behind and slit their throat, causing their voice communication to gargle and cough. Using your hands, you should be able to suffocate them, knocking them unconscious. A non-lethal take down and does not lower humanity.

Okay, here. How about this: Explorer: Start with a compass and a map. Scavenger: Zombies drop loot twice as much, and is twice as rare. Survivor: Needs last longer. Assassin: 50% quieter, zombies aggro less often. Is that better? I'm trying to do things that are nothing like CoD, because personally I think CoD is a trash game and should be eaten. Or something like that. I just wanted to improve DayZ by letting players improve themselves without spending countless hours into the game. Granted, the improvements shouldn't be game breaking, but enough to get the player to continue playing.

Ho there, I am in need of some help! I was thinking about getting DayZ, so I downloaded ARMA 2 Free to see if my PC could handle it. ... What the hell? 800x600 window resolution, game resolution is HALF of that, everything on VERY LOW, Video Memory on VERY HIGH, FoV is on the lowest without editing the .ini so what am I doing wrong? In the editor, like, if I make a scenario just me against a bunch of soldiers in a town, I get probably 20 - 30 fps. If I join a server, like a war server, or an RP server, 10 fps. If there are vehicles, 8 fps. If there are buildings, 5 fps. If there are players, 3 fps. WHAT THE HELL!!! I have a fairly decent PC! Specs: Processor: AMD E2-1800 w/ Radeon HD Graphics 1.70 GHz RAM: 6 GB Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7340 Graphics OS: Windows 8 I know there are mods out there that remove grass, don't animate shrubs and stuff, but I have ARMA FREE! Also, peice of shit keyboard makes all my right side of my keyboard make És for some stupid reason, piece of shit! So I searched the files and deleted some vegetation pbos and WOW. I just opened up the editor, put 10 planes, roughly about 100 US soldiers and 100 RU soldiers and just ran around as a bunny. Got a 7 FPS average. I deleted all of them but put back the trees and bushes to make sure I did not have an advantage. Due to my extreme conditioning towards shit fpses... this is playable.

1. Remove all food items from the game. 2. Spawn in middle of ocean. 3. When you die, instead of a "You have died" screen, you have to wait until a zombie eats you or you decompose until you can start again.

So I'll never be able to play DayZ... Wow. Quick question: why the hell did Rocket build DayZ on ARMA? ARMA is the biggest CPU hog I have ever seen, personally. Why not... the source engine? or something... I'm just upset.

Oh, also, one time I somehow joined a DayZ server in ARMA 2 Free... The game said "DayZ", when I joined, it played like DayZ, there were zombies but the character models were different... it was practically the same thing. How did I do this? I want to do this again.

Windows 8 (I'm pretty sure, from what I've heard) uses the LEAST amount of RAM compaired to other Windows systems. Also, I just heard that the SERVER can CHANGE YOUR VIEW DISTANCE... this might be my problem.
