Dayz Standalone Map. A homage to zombie culture
maxim_l@hotmail.co.uk posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I know some may find this suggestion does not fill Dayz hardcore survival theme however I think if done well, trusting Rocket it will be, could be awesome. Chererous is great don’t get me wrong but I think with the opportunity of standalone why not bring out a sweet map celebrating zombie culture whilst also providing great variety. I will try and produce some sort of rough map later at a later date but here’s a rough idea of my concept. Attractions: Theme park: (Zombieland) Out from the cities lies a sweet theme park , the rides don’t have to work but the atmosphere could be great. If some really fortify mechanics come into play could be a great place to set up camp with loads of vantage points from all the rides. Loot would include much food, sweet run around carts and a few cars in the gated car park and maybe a heli spawn (Non-military of course) Hospital: (Grindhouse) A big hospital in one of three major cities, complete with medical helicopter on roof, another great base to dominate. Get the generator powered and get all the CCTV up. Loot here will be food and much needed supplies, rare ones that can save you from ravaging disease. It’s also the only place where you can pull off a single person blood transfusion however it’s the only place. Mall (Dawn of the dead) A nice sized mall located in one of the major cities (Different from hospital). Perfect for fortifying, it’s got a hardware store where tools have a high chance of spawning and a gunshop. It’s derelict but sturdy, with the generator running you could get some night lights going. This will be a hot spot, so multiple entries required. Pub (Sawn of the dead) Area 52 (Someone can think of a better name) Its decent sized but offers up some unique rare loot and vehicles spawns. The rare loot, as well as good weapons, could be useful tech like thermal/night vision goggles that don’t emit glow (make the standard ones glow) or Quadcopter with camera (maybe a gun) which requires fuel to run. Maybe even a rare digital camo-suit. This would be super rare spawns would defiantly make it a popular place A quint British brand pub found in some of the towns, A great little place to build a shelter with a basement and decent loot of food and occasionally a weapon behind the bar. Cities: 3 major cities, while not huge in size would offer a different vibe. London inspired (hospital) (28 days later) – A tight city with a big wheel and a large clock, in no way a complete copy but with a few London touches. There could be a great black cab spawn here as well. Midwest USA inspired (Mall) (Dawn of the dead)- A midwest typical American city with the mall in the centre, got some decent suburbs for fortification. Has a good museum as well. Industrial Town (No reference) Got the mills, got the power plant. It’s a city built around its work. It’s not the best looking and kind of run down but it’s got fortification in its few factors as well as strong vehicles with much space. Now the different themes and hard to pull on together on one map well, the best way to handle it would be to set on central theme and then with each city add hints of its features. Layout: Military bases would be sporadic over the map. However there is one big one with decent vehicles. Finally there are the villages/small towns in between. Have a small unique place for a few of the small towns. One has a shooting range, decent loot spawns. One has a decent sized police station with decent spawns and a small jail area (hostage holding fun) One is just off from a small military base The villages just consist of barns and fields, good fortification, not too many zombies but not so much supplies. This is probably too ambitious, but Rocket is pretty damn good. -
DayZ Standalone Confirmed

You have to remember a MOD has it features molded round the engine, a GAME has it engine molded to its features. There's a huge difference between the two. Also with a game Rocket will have a bigger team, more funds and more time. Rocket as he said himself is a game desginer, he's got the good ideas and how to implement them. Now he has a team of good coders at his disposal.
