blockhead (DayZ) replied to usspfnorman's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting

Laptop that can run DayZ around 1000$
blockhead (DayZ) replied to Drewmill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
yeah my experience of xps laptops is not that good last one I had was the studio xps 16 with maxed out spec from dell it overheated way too fast, so good performance didnt last long tbh, for best gaming performance it's desktop all the way -
Yet another low fps post
blockhead (DayZ) replied to usspfnorman's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Throughout all fps troubleshooting i've done myself and have seen other players go through, if you have a half decent rig it has nearly always turned out to be server related the guys I play with have their own server now I have had varied fps, but normally hopped round until I got good results. Meaning if fps are good on one server but not the next, then it's not your PC. More than likely the server is having issues of some sort or needs a restart the guys I play with who run the server have seen the same thing... eventually fps start dropping on the server after a while, restart the server, problem solved so, to ask the obvious... have you tried different servers? low ping does not guarantee good performance if the server is struggling. I've connected to server with a ping of 30ms and seen crap performance, whereas a server with 120ms will run smooth as hell. It all depends on how that server is coping at that time -
gamebooster made a noticeable improvement for me, but didn't need to disable my anti virus or firewall and don't intend to either :P if anti virus treats arma files as a threat, then get avg to ignore arma

Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)
blockhead (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
love it! it totally gets the heart going navigating round zeds and keeping in mind to stay out of their line of sight loot seems well balanced my only gripe... zeds do just a tad too much damage for my liking, but hey ho still love the mod  -
hahaha! I havent used it as melee yet... I hope it does that every time :D

As a new player, This mod is so difficult its un-playable.
blockhead (DayZ) replied to HamHamm's topic in New Player Discussion
recent changes like this will have a love/hate response with no middle ground... subsequently it will create a divide however, it's all part of the process... there's more than likely a tonne more changes to come, which will be loved/hated by different players this mod is far from the norm and demands the ability to adapt more than ever
