I never got to ride in a helicopter in the mod. Every time I'd be around when my group was getting one going we would get either killed by a hacker squad or the server would reset and the helicopter would be gone, replaced by a tractor. Not shitting you there. Once we had a convoy of 3 vehicles heading to a camp, bringing loots and parts for the heli. Server restarted, 2 out of the 3 convoy vehicles were gone, the other turned into a bike and the heli became a farm tractor.

Ignore him unless you want to snipe. For the survivor on the go, nothing beats a tooled-up AKM. Pistol and/or sawn-off are optional. Derringers are useless toys, all pistols are hidden till you pull them out. Do you want multiple shots or just one? Thought so. If you like sitting in one spot picking off pixels in the distance, by all means carry a Mosin/AKS combo. Drop the 74 whatever you do, it's garbage next to the AKM.

That's nothing op, I've seen barracks so full of gear that guns and stuff are literally spilling outside. You can't see the floor for the amount of stuff piling up.

Anyone remember the hacked-in weapons boxes in the mod with like 99x of everything? You could walk from Cherno to Elektro on discarded AS-50s without ever touching the grass. What duping we have going on right now is a shadow of the nightmare we used to have.

Yep, I didn't mean to disparage the OP, it was a good story. I just object to the bandit/hero labels that get tossed around so much.

I really like watching some of the better streamers but the hypocrisy in declaring everyone with a weapon out as a bandit making it okay to kill them just cracks me up. Let's be honest here, if someone is a threat or a potential threat to your survival, you kill or avoid them. Trying to take the moral high ground in DayZ PvP is patently absurd.

I just want bikes back, keep your noisy trucks. Stealthin' across the map is more my style.

The problem is we're talking Russian tanks here. You could park a T-55 wet, leave it for 20 years in a bunker and it'll start up again. (after grinding about a pound of metal off their gears) The Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine got a T-34 that had been sitting exposed for 70 years on a monument working with little effort. :D

So true. If you get loot tunnel vision you'll never find what you are looking for. I could not for the life of me find a hacksaw in the last week despite looking all over for it. I gave up/forgot to seek it out and I stumbled on one last night. It's best to play with the hand you're dealt. I can survive just fine on a Repeater+Magnum combo.

I find PSOs like most of my scopes in civilian storage lockers. The barrack beds are also good bets. You've just had bad luck and/or visited already cleared locations. It's a situational scope, when you've been running around it sways way too much and you're better off with iron sights. If you want to snipe, the AKM is a poor choice. Useful in the 200-400 meter ranges when you're posted up that's about it.

I'd say a big maybe to a BRDM armored car, but no tanks and no cannon-armed APCs like BMPs. MG turret at most and not before satchel charges are back in game to use as IEDs to take it out. Maybe Hell no.

Drybag blocks looking over your shoulder in 1pp like mountain packs and it has that ugly 'Marin' logo so I think the choice is pretty clear on which is better.

This will just make random encounters that more paranoid. Is he planning on eating me? Why is that guy lighting a cooking fire?

Ewww. So are we going to be seeing psychos wearing 'man-suits' soon? Will prion buildup from cannibalism cause illness and death? Will there be 'tainted meat'?

They still come in a trickle, not a horde. They still spawn in behind you where you just were 10 seconds ago. We still have nothing like the hordes the mod could put out:

Hah, good story and you learned a valuable lesson: always be aware of your surroundings and don't rush to loot your kills. Reposition and observe the scene before moving in for the loots!

I think so, but I've found most of mine in the storage lockers, assuming I beat Dave Hester to them.

I remember way back in the mod me and 4 buddies all had mk.17s and we rambo'd the elektro hordes for half and hour, it was fun as balls. Endless raging zombies coming for our firing line, the sound from out of town must have been insane: imagine 5 light mgs all plugging away at once.

I took my jacket, gloves and hat off and drank some water and it dropped down to 'hot'. Just like when they introduced hypothermia, the effects are exaggerated atm for testing the temperature ranges I bet.

The better streamers are entertaining. Sometimes I get home from work and intend to play some DayZ. Well I cook dinner and sit down to watch a bit of MrBlackout or whoever and get keyed up to play afterwards. As for giving them money, I don't understand it either but more power to them to make a bit of scratch while playing a game.

Assuming max health, prisitine camo clothes, assault vest and helmet is it possible to one shot kill someone in the body area with a moisin? Not whining or anything but I was killed in Cherno the other night with such a character and I heard the shot and immediately died. I've been headshotted before and you dont hear the shot that got you. I'm just curious because I was a bit surprised at the instant death after hearing one moisin shot. I can't complain 'cause I was looking for trouble; fully camo'd, gorka helmet w/visor and openly carrying an AK-101 with a gigaton of 5.56 that I found at a choppa. I just got careless and attributed a suspect zombie aggro to myself and paid the price. Hope my killer got some use of the grenade I had. I was looking forward to lobbing that bad boy.

Why so bitter about Twitchers? The better ones are almost living the dream: making a decent living off of playing videogames. If only our parents in the 80s knew then what is possible now they wouldn't have given little timmy such a hard time for playing Super Mario 8 hours a day. :D

A fun diversion in the meantime is to hold people up on roads for their kvass and notacola. :D
