  1. Anyone who was here in March 2012 would say this forum is dead compared to what it used to be. The standalone will bring many strays back to the flock, I have no doubt.

    coming back to DayZ

Epoch is a pile of steaming crap, it's not DayZ.
  3. And let's not forget that upon death you're losing all that gear most of the time.
  4. I've never tried it, but I imagine if I called the cops to tell them I paid some dude on the internet to sell me a sniper rifle and NVGs for a zombie survival game and he ripped me off they would laugh at me, and justly so. I have no doubt some losers will try to buy gear with real $$$, and most of them will be ripped off.
  5. What would stop the seller from taking your money and killing you in game, or just not showing up? There is no recourse.
  6. And I can't wait for that. Kudos, friend. Not saying I don't enjoy a good TDM on BF3 once and a while but I want my pure DayZ experience back without the absurd gameplay smashing mods that are out. That being said, I do appreciate the new maps running under a 'pure' dayZ ruleset.
  7. Cool, will likely play this Friday/Saturday depending on the GF. I'll drop ye a line.
  8. I wish I knew people in RL who played Dayz, a buddy of mine tried it for a month than gave up and my online group disbanded long ago, I've been a lone wolf ever since aside from the odd stranger I teamed up with. An all nite, beer fueled dayz lan party would be AMAZING.

    Standalone and Steam OS

I would be shocked if it isn't SteamOS compatible.
  10. 10 minute despawn timer in the SA maybe would solve this?
  11. Done it and haven't done it. Don't feel too bad about it. If I really wanted the gear back, I'll hoof it to get it, but usually I am relieved that I can play as a new spawn again and feel the rush of discovery and danger that comes with gearing up, whether that's in the Cherno-Elektro coast or heading inland to Zelano. It's almost a split personality thing, when I'm geared I feel paranoid and my risk taking decreases because I don't want to die and start over, but when it happens I'm like 'sweet! I can run around with a winnie and axe again carefree!'.

Tried to jump back into DayZ...

I don't think DayZ is for you friend. Try State of Decay, it's exactly as you descibe and it's quite fun for a former XBLA title.
  13. ROFL. Seriously, thanks for the laugh at the end of the day.
  14. No he's 100% factually correct. Educate yourself.

Tried to jump back into DayZ...

KOS debates aside, I have fond memories of March 2012 when this was brand new. The panicked reports of player killers operating here or there on side chat, most people were just stumbling around trying to survive and knowing that there was a psycho killer or two out there upped the tension dramatically. With the ffa dm most servers have these days, that feeling is lost. Hard to recapture that feeling even if KOS stopped happening as we are all pretty familiar with the game by now.

    I'm screwed

Tank? WTF happened to DayZ. If you need silly mods like that, maybe a different game is for you. *shakes head in frustration*
  17. I don't expect anything till after Hallowe'en at the earliest, I wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to Christmas. No biggie, I've got the mod and a bucketload of new games from the SSS. Patience.
  18. I've got plenty of new games from the Steam summer sale, so no. I hope the dev team takes as long as they need to deliver a stable, working product (well for a public alpha that is). It's August anyways, plenty of things to do. I would be fine with an October release date, darker skies and colder weather seem to fit playing DayZ better anyways.
  19. Quality and quantity of posts seem way down compared to last summer, but the bronies don't seem to be quite as obnoxious anymore but that could be because there are fewer of them. I think most people have put it aside till the Standalone comes out, or at least I hope so. It would suck if people are burnt out on the game now with the epic wait from announcement last year of a standalone title and the release date. It MAY have been a mistake to release this to the public as early as it was, but there were no concrete plans to make a commercial product at that time.

    Green mountain

I think an ATV used to spawn by the giant tower, but I'm not sure it's still there in the latest patches, I haven't looked in quite a while.

    Which processor?

Any decent computer from the last 2-3 years should be able to run DayZ standalone, it's not like the graphics have Crysis 3 level requirements.
  22. I ran into a couple of guys with broken legs at Balota, they were crawling to Cherno to look for morphine. Having none, I told them I would look for some. Couldn't find any in the immediate area, ran back to Balota and started running along their last known vector. Caught up with them still crawling, said 'Sorry bros, couldn't find any morphine, but let me end your suffering.' Plugged 'em both helpless and all to send them back to the beach. Still felt a little bad.
  23. I'd take my CADPAT camo gear, machete, dagger, hatchet, compound bow & quiver (with hunting tips), water purifyer pump, canteen, beef jerky, trail mix, dehydrated fruit, first aid kit, disinfectant, spare undies and socks, wind-up radio, thermal blanket, 2 rolls of TP, soap, cold weather sleeping bag, solid pair of broken in combat boots, 50ft (at least) of climbing rope, small mirror, flares, glow sticks, gold and silver coins for trading, camping matches, compass, rain poncho w/headgear and a 60 liter backpack to store it all.

    Sniping a Helicopter

Ha! Great shot, thanks for getting straight to the action without 10 minutes of you running around the countryside. Kudos, sir.
