Had a good run tonight! How was yours?
j92040 replied to Seldrad88's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My night was outstanding. After respawning from some stupidity on my part (out of ammo for my ak so i attacked a pair of bandits with a hatchet lmao) I ran up north, no one was at starry so i got some military stuffs n went back down south! -
Have you ever gotten a bit of luck...
j92040 replied to KEEPCARLM's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I used to be a survivor like you all guise, but then I took an arrow to the knee... -
My issue with this is simple - Bandits are basically a gang in dayz. You mess with one, more come. And now you're trying to start a new gang. At some point you're going to wind up recruiting "ex" bandits who just join to abuse the power, gain newb's trust and rape them for their lewtz. So gg, trying to invent a new form of banditry. The idea itself I like, but there's no real practicallity to it as of now. Maybe in future patches it would be feasible.

O...M....G... and I thought bandits were smart.

So I got killed by these 2 bandits at the national airfield with the m16/grenade launcher and the other one had a DMR.... i raged pretty hard, but was w/e about it because I spawned Fairly far up on the north-eastern coast. I made my rounds, wound up at the OTHER northern airfield and as I was making my way down via that town just south of devil's castle i see 2 figures running into the supermarket. At this point, im hungry, and only have 1 clip left for my AK i got at the airfield. I creep up to the market and peek through the window and it's the SAME guys that killed me (A bit of time passed between my respawn and seeing them again) and they're both facing the main entrance to the market waiting for god knows what. So i creep around back, and as I start popping off a few rounds at the bandit with the DMR his buddy runs across the doorway and is now trapped ( the door leading from the back to the front, so he ran into the corner behind the counter) and I wait about 20 seconds hoping to make him think I had left. Still no movement, so I crouch-run through the doorway and immediately aim to the right and fire the rest of my clip into this guy. Bam. Both dead before either could get a single shot off. And now I have an m16A2 203 and a DMR on top of a tent, a bunch of food, and a map, compass, m1911 or w/e it's called. This experience made me learn one thing - Bandits are not nearly AS scary when its you who has the element of surprise, and not the other way around. And to those two douchemuffins who I had my revenge on, come at me, I'll be in cherno all day tomorrow picking off anybody i see firing at other survivors =3 -

Yeah, the fact that I died wasn't really the issue, these 2 guys I know had killed some other people up there, but as i tried to make my escape is when they tagged me. What I was amazed at is they had let their guard down, even though it was close to another airfield, which correct me if I'm wrong, are frequented by almost everyone? And they didn't even guard the other doors, just the front. I had a good chuckle out it honestly -
I've got a chilling story that will haunt you for the rest of your day....z. =P It all started back when I first started playing a few weeks ago. I was new, barely knew the controls, but had already learned to be wary of players. And after my first time through cherno, is when this all began. I was creeping through town, only had a revolver a this point, but out of the corner of my eye I saw a zombie magically appear. At first i figured it had just spawned and whatnot, but even though I was prone and roughly 30m away, It immidiately dropped to all fours and came charging at me. I panicked, and fired off an entire 6 rounds into this bastard before he dropped. And then I noticed something truly strange especially for cherno - it was dead quiet. No sound of gunshots, no guttural growls of zombies, nothing but ambience. So I reload my weapon, and go up the zombie I just deadchecked to loot it. And it started attacking me and broke my leg. My heart was racing and all I could think was "IT WAS DEAD, I KILLED IT" and I crawled away in horror, dragging my body through the middle of the street as right behind me i could hear "skritch. skritch. GNAWR. skritch" Every time I thought I had enough distance to fire I would turn around and shoot that thing... and it would stop moving for a little while, but then it would resume it's crawl towards me. I was terrified at this point, and out of ammo so as i continued to crawl away in utter terror at this undying monstrosity I decided to end my life and respawn as I had no morphine or bandages and was beginning to bleed out. Upon respawning, and for almost an hour afterwards I could only sigh with relief that the nightmare was over, it was done. And then it happened. It seems that no-matter where in chernarus I go, and always at random intervals I see it. That THING. It appears before me, growls, or screetches, or screams, and my speakers tell me its coming from not just one, but all directions, and then dissappears. I've died many a time since then, but the spectre of my past still haunts me. What it desires of me I know not, but I am haunted to this day and occasionally it stil appears before me.... taunting me with it's undying rage and hatred. Did it feel cheated that I took my own life the first time and from then on would never stop tormenting me? Or is it after my very soul, I cannot possibly fathom.

I went through green mountain today, almost shit my pants. Literally nothing there but I got the "i'm being watched feeling" and proceeded to bolt. Also a bunch of zombie shouts and snarls but when i turned around to look NOTHING was there. FUCK that place it almost gave me a damned heart attack.

Jaym, you need to learn to be efficient at scavenging that's all. And a bit of luck, as in being in the right place at the right time helps. You can run through the middle of smaller towns, grab what gear you need from the buildings, and run out before the zombies can get you just be wary of players. I only play solo because I don't trust anyone enough to let em roll with me and my RL friends are too cheap to buy the game lol. Also, adopt a shoot on sight policy. When I first started i'd get great gear, and see another survivor and try to type out "friend or foe?" but before I could finish i'd get shot and robbed every time. Trust who you will, but be wary of everyone in this game - you're more likely to get shot AFTER you decide to trust someone than when you first meet them because then they don't risk dying if they shoot you in the back.

First let me start by saying this is NOT a QQ thread. Post experiences that made you baww, or almost did. I'll start - last week, survived looting all the coastal cities, head up to stary sobor for the military tents. No-one there, sweet! Set up a tent with gear next to the 2 story shed building with tank traps, sandbags, barbed wire. Go to checkout the tents, fine a ak74 and g17 so I'm feelin pretty lucky. A little low on blood, find food in another tent. Open bag to eat it, and I see through inventory screen someone just logged in right in front me, puts 3 rounds from another ak into me. I bawwwed a bit. All that time with no contact with survivors, then BAM! Killed by a random dude logging in lol

Buddha I somewhat agree with you, but if that were to happen there would be many more people camping the coastal cities than there are already. It could even come to the point where any building with loot would be guarded/blocked off -

If I didn't panic then I probably would have, but i was just running in through the southern side of electro towards the markent then i hear gunshots and my leg is broken. So i roll a few times and find the guy on the roof directly across from the market, return fire, and he d'ces. So sad =( -

Cool story bro. Seriously. - If people killed me a legit way (which they have before and still do when I slip up and decide to checkout the view from the top of a firestation) then fine. But when I'm sneaking through electro, get shot in the leg by some guy on a roof and return fire and they d/c.... i mean c'mon. NOT cool. -
Im at the moment halfway between an actual bandit and survivor. If people don't see me, I let them go, but if I hear gunfire, I try n figure out where it's at and take w/e I can. My issue is this - about 2/3 of the time when I actually do PvP with someone, i die. (lol right?) what I mean by that is simply this - me and said person will be fighting, he'll run around a corner or something then after a second or two magically appear behind me, or he turns invisible on my screen. I can see the gunfire but I can't see him and I die. So my question is about desync. Is this my issue? Possibly lag in general? How do i resolve it? (btw last time i checked it said my desync was 18 or so)

And its DICKS like you that ruin the game for others. I'm sorry, but in my experience the people who disconnect are the ones that ATTACK you first. Then when they fail to kill you, they D/C like the little b*tches they are. -
Rule 9 : If you see a tent out in the open, its a trap.

So I still consider myself a "newb" because I'm still learning the ropes regardless of the hours I've logged on this game. Ive raged, I've bawwed when losing my stuff to bandits after finding a chopper crash site, and i've had many lulz. Here's one that happened roughly 20 min ago before a server restart - I was on the west end of electro creepin my way up to town when I hear several enfield shots. At first i tried to discern the source of said fire but was unable to so I went to the first firestation then church where I heard several more gunshots. After rounding the corner headed to the market I barely notice a lone figure up on that roof of the 3 story building next to the market n almost sh1t myself. I'm prone, and after several seconds I realize he hasn't seen me so I decide to backtrack (i only had a makarov at this point) - and then I ran into him again. I took the long route to the next firestation and as im scrolling my mouse to look around a corner he runs RIGHT past me and stops going prone to look towards the firestation. My heart is pumping, I feel the need to kill, this guy's got an enfield at least and who knows what else. I charge in at him and fire my whole clip into the back of his head and he drops. While looting him i think "holy shizz this guy was loaded" I wound up getting an enfield, alice pack, revolver, blood bag, epi pen morphine shot and buttload of enfield ammo. So then i start my journey towards the northernmost firestation in electro. I hear the flies buzzing, and there's barbed wire blocking the back door so i have to go around. I see the body, and find a winchester 1888. Trie to put in bag but it dissappears and I figure maybe there's some decent gear uptop. I go up the first flight of stairs and come face to face with a guy staring at me down the sights of an ak74s. I panic, and unload a good 5 rounds into his chest before he drops, then I deadcheck em with 2 more and find a ton of food on the guy. Times like this make me remember why no matter how many times i've died, how much loot I've lost, or how much raaaage I've had for some bandits, I will keep coming back to this game. Nothing is more amazing then staring a potential killer in the face, your heart pumping with the music being really instense, And then you fire first, you fire last, you unload a whole clip into the poor SOB before he does the same to you. *dat feel man* =D

AHHHH ArmA 2 OA Down for Maintenance!!

Lol what server? Did said shooter happen to have a high caliber sniper? I got pinned down at the airfield by the same guy -
So, after randomly respawning in a town roughly 20 minutes away from the international airfield (i thought u could only spawn on the beach?) and running TOWARDS the ocean, figuring out where i was n having to run back, I finally made it to the airfield where the "big boys" play. Luckily for me, no one was around but I was truly disheartened. I was hoping to find a sniper rifle of some sort and maybe some camo but I did however come across an AKM and that one full auto uzi pistol thingy. But I'm at a loss... I really want a sniper rifle as when I've come across other players we wind up killing one another, or i wind up with a broken leg and get picked off buy the guy's bandit buddy while I'm trying to crawl away. So my question is - WHERE ARE THE FRIGGIN SNIPERS SPAWNING AT! INB4 Barns lol. And yes, I've tried several different low pop servers and checked both barrackses, the firestation and all 6 hangars (the 4 clustered and the 2 a little farther down)
-
Thanks man!
-
I guess I just have really rotten luck then.... Ive logged almost 50 hours now and have never even SEEN a player with a sniper rifle or found one, but yet again I suppose I'm lucky for that one. I just want to get my hands on one so i could *cough* make sure OTHER people aren't camping on top firestations *cough* or other conspicuous buildings.
-
Unfortunately 90% of the people you're going to come across in-game will shoot you just to see if there's anything you have that they want/need. Avoid other players when possible but if it comes to a showdown play smart, don't run right at them XD
