i totally agree with this... the as50 is rediculously overpowering due to it's high distribution. vehicles are cool right? no they're not - because you can't drive 1 km without alerting a nearby as50 derper and get instantly killed... or stuck in no-mans-land with a lot of accumulated gear in the wrecked vehicle. it should be insanely rare, to the point where you SAVE your as50 to kill >1km targets or vehicles... not the easy, spammable, noob-friendly, instagib railgun with so much ammo that you're basically swimming in the stuff like scrooge mcduck. -

it's an extremely harsh change if intentional... HOWEVER: alt+f4 and ghosting was legit and destroying the game. at least 50% of my total 'kills' and almost 100% of my kills where i didn't manage to insta-kill the guy were ruined by aborting kids. not to mention the ever present risk of their hidden friend server hopping to ghost around and flank from behind at any moment. the harsh change was absolutely necessary. if this change is here to stay - find a server you like and stick to it. seriously, the aborting/ghosting problem is waaaaaay worse than hacking imo. you think you're having a fair and legit fight, then some ass just decides to LOLQUIT and get a free kill on you because he server hops and teleports into the bush directly behind you.... hackers you just spot a mile off - then leave game and contact an admin. -

lag... the same reason the car took several seconds to explode. i've had ~8k life, hidden from a guy chasing me with revolver, then all of a sudden insta-died with no bullet sounds and not even seeing anyone while hiding in perfect cover. death during desync. if you didn't desync then maybe the sniper got a desync. -

Zombies way too hard now

i don't like the 'randomness' of zombies. the other day i was prone and managed to aggro a zombie from 20 metres (facing the opposite way from me). he ran over and tapped me before i could run away, i started bleeding and had the pain shakes. by the time i could run into the nearby forest to bandage, i had ~9500 blood. 30 minutes later, i enter a building with aggro of a single zombie to shoot him with my silenced mp5. he lag warps accross the inside of the building and hits me a single time (~9500 blood), and KO's me for 3-4 minutes. i'm bleeding again but luckily the zombie walked away because he didn't have LOS with my unconscious body and walked off. 5000 blood. yay two hits from zombies, both pretty unfair and unavoidable, 5000 blood and game is now black and white. it's not the first time this has happened as well.... a couple of times i've alt-tabbed for ~10 seconds then gone back into game to find myself KO'd by a single zombie... and it's the 3rd time i've been KO'd by a single zombie while in-game (first time i didn't know how insanely powerful they were, second time it was pitch black and i had to let zombie get close to see him, both of those times i died). it's just waaaay too random. it should be at least 2-3 hits per 'effect' at least. or at the very least lower the zombie KO time from the ridiculous 2+ minutes so you actually have a chance to survive it. it needs to punish people who carelessly pull aggro, without punishing people who get shafted by glitchy aggro. definitely needs a change imo. -
just keep switching servers until you get thunderdome'd. sorted.

eventually, the hackers will get bored. remember that if you let hackers make you angry - you're doing exactly what they WANT YOU TO DO - you're basically giving them pleasure. i'm pretty sure hackers only bother using >30 ppl servers, because of the greater access to griefing targets. i avoid mass populated servers, so i guess that's why i haven't seen them. -

it's not like you murder 1-2 guys then all of a sudden the floor opens up and a bunch of cenobites pop out to mutilate you with a balaclava. to be labelled a bandit you have to be a seriously disturbed individual - i don't know the algorithm but it's up there like >10 murders per day (total guess, but it's a pretty impressive total). if you're a pvp player and you intentionally go out hunting other players to kill, then you should be labelled a psycho bandit. this is the endgame for a LOT of people. so there will be a lot of balaclava's.... :o anyway, i'm looking forward to the change, it sounds interesting. -

for the record, i don't really like cod for that exact reason of stupid 'arcadey deathmatch' style play. but i still think it would be beneficial for a TACTICAL shooter to have some kind of conservational side. the nigh infinite ammo in dayz means people inevitably spray-n-pray. they don't take care to aim their shot, they just spam away until they get a kill. i think this is one of the most detrimental aspects of the competitive/pvp game experience. if you want a game where you can spray-n-pray, then maybe you're the cod person. if the whole problem can be fixed with a simple nerf to ammunition loot chance etc then that would be fine as well. i just think the endgame has very limited prospects if it's gonna continue with the cheap infinite ammo as50 facerolling with no diversity or metagaming etc. -

ghillie and camo aren't that rare tbh. if you farm a low population area such as polana, you will almost certainly find a ghillie or camo in maybe 2-3 hours. ghillie and camo are indeed more scarce than as50 etc purely because you can't recycle them. -

you can't really flank when they have several players scanning 360 degrees with thermal. also, indeed it's a military simulator game and hense it's plausible that a guy could have an as50 with plenty of ammo. however, dayz is meant to be an pseudo-apocalypse scenario where you have to survive attrition, it's simply not plausible that your team would have a whole stack of as50's with dozens of magazines. there's literally more ammo lying around than in left4dead. "hey guys we're in luck - the world has reset so there's another 12 crashed BAF choppers out there waiting to be plucked of goodies!" i think you kinda misunderstood the charge idea. the charge idea is to give each weapon a limited number of shots before it's destroyed. this is to simulate the effect that you only have a few shots available - therefore people would actually have to be careful with their shots (so you can't spray and pray with your 'super rare' weapon which is what people do atm). you can't carry a bunch of as50's, but you can carry dozens of mags - ergo you'd actually have to aim with it. yeah... well... that's just like eh... your opinion, man. seriously though, 50% of my deaths may have been from as50 - but my thought on the weapons mostly comes from watching the high level streams/vids on youtube. where it's ALL about .50cal/thermal and comparatively almost every other weapon is about as useful as dog turd. -
A kind of controversial topic... so let's get straight down to business. To put it bluntly, I would like .50 cals (AS50 and M107) and thermal (L85A2) either totally changed or removed from the game entirely. I have several reasons for wishing such a drastic change, but to focus on the primary reason let's assume that all duping and hacking is dealt with, therefore we can skip the problem of weapon inflation and how the 'special' rare weapons are common as mud. Basically, in my opinion the weapons in question are ridiculously overpowered as they render pretty much every other weapon in the game completely obsolete (unless you want to be a total badass and gimp yourself with inferior weapons, which can be fun). I feel this has a really negative impact on the game longevity, with both the lack of diversity and the stunted skill ceiling brought about by such godly weapons. Note: I absolutely want people to be rewarded for finding and collecting rare gear. Perhaps removing from the game is overkill. I honestly love the AS50, M107 and L85A2; and I have no problem with the use of them in the current build. However, it's the future of the mod I'm concerned about, and I feel that endgame will be very stale if the weapons remain in a similar 'shady' state further down the line. For the sake of keeping the weapons in the game, the change I propose would be to make these weapons function with charges instead of ammo magazines. For example each AS50/M107 only gets 5 (up for debate) charges/shots, then it's destroyed and dumped. I believe this same mechanic could work for the rocket launcher as well, and would work to prevent the mass hoarding of ammunition and the nigh infinite ammo stockpiles, which would help to increase value and rarity of these weapons. Regarding the knock-on effect for players, my theory is that skilled players with strategic knowledge won't be harmed by the change, and it would provide a more enjoyable game because it would require more skill/strategy/diversity and less dependancy on a complete zerg of AS50/thermal facerollers, "lolz i win coz my team haz more as50z and thermals!". Anyway this is me just voicing my thoughts... First of all, the focus should be on dealing with hackers, altf4/aborters and server hopping ghosters etc. But eventually I would really like the 'overpowered' weapons to be neutralized to provide a more competitive and diverse endgame instead of effectively transforming into superman the second you pick up a certain weapon.

dayz is especially awesome because you can choose to be good or bad. if there wasn't a balance of good and bad then it would be boring as hell. don't question 'bad' behaviour! :P

so noone else saw the machinima dayz stream from 2 days ago where rocket says he wants to push a full patch asap instead of just a hotfix for the glitches (artifacts). the artifacts are bugging me quite a bit, but new additions/tweaks to the game will be amazing! well worth waiting an extra few days.
