    50 Jerrycans?

At one of my good camps, we liked to have have about 5 per vehicle.
  2. Revive. I would definitely like a touch of that "howling wolves/creatures of the night with slithering mist under blue moonlight" feel.
  3. I think this sums up life, though I think the bitchers and the mean people are one and the same.
  4. Oh look, ANOTHER QQ "people are QQ-ing about hackers" post. How original. Stop the spam... Either get everyone to post all their QQ about people QQ-ing about hackers in one thread, or don't post anything at all.
  5. By 'emotional', does "Rocket" mean to say, 'adrenaline rush, followed either by immense relief or immense frustration' depending on how a situation pans out for them? I think he's just trying to sling the same half-baked bullshit as a lot of other game developers because there's a great deal of authenticity amiss in our culture and we're trying to remedy it by forcing emotions into game players. It's silly. It's a game. I have no desire to experience the spectrum of emotions when I'm playing chess and the same goes for any other game. And to top it off is one key thing: They're just games. If we're going to argue that they're "just games", why are so many of these developers putting so much effort into 'emotion'? It seems just a tad contradictory. Any way, it's not other players that create problems, but script kiddies. When I play DayZ, I know what I'm getting myself into as far as how situations will play out when I encounter other players. Cracking, on the other hand always gives one player an insurmountable and unpredictable advantage over the other. Then, the game becomes both a waste of money and time because it's not being played the way developers have chosen and the players have agreed to.
  6. I say 'possible' because I don't want to accuse anyone of anything that they haven't done, but I did steal a nice red UAZ near Rog Por with three L85A2 AWS's. In only about an-hour-and-a-half's time, a group of people were disconnected from the server and then the admin did a restart. When I re-entered the game, none of the L85A2 AWS's were in the UAZ. Again, I'm not accusing anyone of anything as it could've been a bug, and it's a stretch alone to think the car was the admin's, but it seems a bit convenient. As it stands, nobody's reputation should be wrongfully sullied, but I do want people aware of the issue.
  7. Earlier I found an enemy tube truck that seems to have a hit a tree, I replaced the two missing wheels and had a friend bump me away from the tree. Now the truck just spins in circles, as if on an axis, like it doesn't haven't a wheel where it does. Same goes for a bus I found a few minutes later: I hit a pop-up roadblock, which made my wheel bar turn orange. I backed up far enough to go around it and now it's spinning in circles on an axis. The bus seems to have all of its wheels. What seems to be going on?

Screen full of flat lines and colors.

Essentially, it's a graphical problem usually linked to the corpses of military personnel. It was a botch from the most recent update and Rocket intends to fix the problem in the next update from what I've read. A quick fix that works for many players is to change the 'video memory' option in advanced graphics to 'default'.
  9. Date/Time: July 26, 2012/ Any time (Results can be repeated over and over). What happened: When a player is given the option to cook meat, the "cook meat" prompt can come up again after they have begun cooking. If the player hits "enter" fast enough, (s)he can exploit the prompt multiple times. This gives them more steak for each extra time they hit the "cook meat" prompt. Quantity varies, but as stated above, the general bug can be exploited every time. At one point, I was able to acquire 10+ extra steaks from cooking 8 raw meat. This also has the tendency to give the player 'hidden' meat. Generally, any extra meats will transfer to the player's pack, but will also deposit more meats into the player's inventory than there are slots for it, allowing them to eat a handful of steaks from their inventory before their inventory slots actually begin to empty. For example, if a player acquires, say, 15 steaks from the exploit, and has all 9 inventory slots filled with steak, They can actually eat 6 steaks before their 9 inventory steaks are eaten. Where you were: Various locations, always at a lit fire. What you were doing: Cooking meat. *Current installed version: 1.7.2.3/ Beta 95251 *Server(s) you were on: US 1053, LA14 *Your system specs: Pentium Dual-Core CPU @ 3.00 GHz; 6.00 GB RAM; Win 7 64-bit *Timeline of events before/after error: Different both before and after for every instance this occurred. As stated above, the result can be repeated over and over.
  10. Hey _tox_, no, wherever you were, it wasn't us you attacked when the server went down. Except for two of us together with low-tier weapons, the other two of us on at the time were way apart. We have no problem being killed by other players as that's a great part of the game. Most of us has been killed within the last day or two--Me at least three times. We had simply been mulling the idea over today and decided then was a good time. Sorry amigo that everything timed that way.
  11. In three days, we were mass warped three times, among a slew of item hackers, invisibles, and invincibles. We know that just about every other server is experiencing these problems, and to them, I say kudos for their persistence and dedication. You have the wherewithal and patience to deal with this on a regular basis and that is awesome. Awesome, awesome, awesome! Sadly, some of us just don't see it as worth $40 per month to keep up a server with needless problems every day. It's not just admins and their friends, but it ruins the whole experience for every single one of the forty players who enjoy getting onto our server. In our short week running, we've already noticed a few people settle down in our server. It's wonderful to see that sort of thing and we're sorry to shut down on you guys, but it's too much of a headache to deal with script kiddies abusing an immensely exploitable and unprotected game--Especially when there is almost no easy-access, user-friendly server-side support. Maybe--Just maybe--DayZ will turn out great by beta, and most hopefully by full version release, but right now, there is so much that is counter-intuitive about how the whole thing is being handled. We love this game, which is why we also are so frustrated with it. It has so much potential, but it simply does not seem to be getting the major problems addressed as needed. We hope Rocket has a good set of priorities, and again, we appreciate all the hard work he's put in for DayZ, but it just doesn't appear as though things are getting prioritized appropriately
  12. I haven't seen this question specifically. Basically, I know they reset locations at server restart, but can their drop points, be farmed over time?
  13. ...in the lamest way. I was at the top of [EDITED OUT FOR SURVIVAL PURPOSES] with some friends during nighttime with some newly-found night-vision goggles looking over the [CENSORED] down at the [CENSORED] because we thought we heard/saw someone down there. Then, I edged into a crevice, which broke my leg after I was stuck in it for 5 seconds (Even though technically, I slipped like 6 inches and didn't fall any amount of distance, and then I shot out, a few dozen feet to my death. What. The. Fuck?
  14. Dude, I've broken my leg opening a door on myself while prone! That's crazy you died.
  15. My buddy didn't realize that other players can see the map markers on their maps, so he marked where our base is in the letters 'base' (I know). Are we gonna have to leave or can we remove the marker...
  16. Matchew

How do I remove a map marker?

    Thank you, thank you!
  17. Yup, everyone got transported to the center of some town or city. One landmark I can remember seeing was a half-blown up building, my buddy heard some explosions. I think it was an attempt to nuke us.

What was your last legit kill

It was a semi-uneventful day, but I had started in Prigorodky and all of my friends were in Zelenogorsk. So, I figured the best way to make it there was along the power lines. I didn't know if anybody else liked to take the power lines, and I didn't consider some of the high yield buildings I might come across, but I went on my way I had made it down the hill, out into the open just West past Vysota where the power lines split and noticed another player running from zombies along the the small path at the bottom. I decided to go prone, not knowing if he noticed me, but it soon became obvious he knew I was there. He got pretty close to me, which I now assume wasn't because he wanted to kill me right away, but wanted to pawn the zombie on me. Any way, it didn't work and he finally shot the zombie. Then, with his pistol drawn, he started approaching me. I had a Winchester, but I don't much care for confrontations. I shouted "Friendly" three times, but he was acting weird. He started approaching me, and before I knew it, he was practically on top of me. I don't know what he intended to do, as he could have easily shot me where he was before. But, I wouldn't take chances. I popped off two rounds on him and he died. Before I even shot him, he said something indistinguishable, but I clearly heard 'faggot' at the end. He deserved to die and I have no remorse. His name was Jeremy. He proceeded to die frequently through the rest of the evening. I don't know what you planned, Jeremy, but fuck you. That's the last time I shout "friendly" to anybody. I've died doing that every other time.

How the bloody hell do I talk?

Shouting and typing friendly has never saved my life. The only time I haven't been attacked is when the other kid didn't want to attack me to begin with. If anything, typing and talking confirms the other players to your presence whereas they might be willing to forget about you. 8-9/10 times, you will be attacked.

    couple of hours in..

On second thought, be exceptionally careful when in a city area. There are tons of zombies and plenty of other players. Your best bet is always sneaking and never being in the open when approaching hospitals. If you want any chance of surviving with your buddy for very long, get bare survival essentials and head into the hills.

    What's up?

Seriously! How are you? I ask this because I try to give a shit about the well-being of others even when I don't actually give a shit. Hence, a little problem with a majority of players. Things get tense, mistakes get made--I understand. But listen, can we keep the player-killing to a minimum? Everyone's more likely to survive if everyone else isn't shooting them. I get it though--times have been so brutal, we mostly assume that if we don't kill "them", they'll kill us. Some players even like actively hunting other players. That's their thing and that's not a majority of player-on-player kills. Most of them are incidental and in-city. Here's the deal: You're in a city. With an abundant supply of all the items you could ever need. You have very limited space for holding all of it. And there are zombies at every street corner. Why are we killing each other? Because the other guy *might* have something of value? First, you have to ask yourself then why he's in a city in the first place. Then you have to ask yourself, if you can get the beat on him, is he really a threat? He might be if he happens to get the beat on you when you let him go, but if you have sights on him, make it known that you have the superior position and bring him into the fold. Most often, he's more of as asset alive than dead. And again, you're in a city. The chances of that person you want to kill has something you can't scavenge from one of the buildings is astronomically low. Today, I was shot in the back at point blank range in the western Elektro fire station. I didn't have much, but enough to survive: A Lee Enfield and 8 rounds, a hatchet, and a Pepsi Cola. If we're going to play by the "kill or be killed" maxim, let's try our damnedest not to be savages about it. Shooting someone in the back when they are unaware of your presence is pathetic. Perhaps I should have been checking my back, which really I was, but, well, you know the feelings of rage at such a loss of your life. Person-who-killed-me: I don't know who you are, but know that I will still give you the benefit of the doubt in the future, but if you ever shoot at me again, I will make sure to methodically insert my dick into your every bloodied orifice after airing your limp corpse out with every last bullet I have. Survival is not a goal for me, but I refuse to be shit on by other players.

    Zombies are seriously too fast.

If you keep running, the zombies can't get you. They have to stop to hit you, so by the time they swing, you're already too far for them. I've been chased for miles--From Elektro to Cherno and back in a single run. Run indoors and they have to walk but make sure you're not going to get trapped or flanked. For example, just west outside of Elektro is a huge barn in a field. If you have a huge zombie mob chasing you, run through that barn. They'll pool into the one side and you can get distance on them in no time at all.
  23. Does anyone else have this? The environment tends to blur the further in distance I look, with say, a building at 100 yards being quite blurry. I've tried messing with the video settings and gotten nothing. Changing my graphics to "low" actually makes the blurriness worse.
