What should i do next? Surviving is easy!
Snakeman (DayZ) replied to -MadTommy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm almost in the same boat... tooled up, loads of food and all the kit. There doesn't seem to be an end-game for the survivor role; bandits have player killing which is an indefinite task, as a survivor once you're stocked up you have no purpose... it's killed the game for me to be honest. I'd like there to be a way survivors can equal the score with bandits without resorting to the same game. I don't know what that could be to be honest. Maybe on reaching a military checkpoint on the edge of the map you could order a strike on a given town at the expense of starting over again; or in the very least get some kind of badge of recognition. Otherwise what else is there to do? -
Shooting players on sight?

I used to say 'Friendly', hear "Friendly' back -- then get shot. Now any player with a gun aware of my position is a threat. -
UK Player looking for GMT-5 ish Server with TS for evening play.
Snakeman (DayZ) replied to bogroll (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Same here. There's another problem in that the servers are often incorrectly named: I use the ingame filter to search for servers with 'GMT-' and pick somewhere between -6 and -12, after joining the majority of the time its GMT or GMT+. Name your servers properly people! -
Hi guys, I've been playing a few days now and I'm addicted (its 2 in the morning ffs!). Inevitable noob questions: 1. Until now I've avoided Cherno and Electo; before I embark upon these charming locations I must know: If I run down a road and into a building closing the door, will any pursuing zombies be able to open it? 2. If you have a primary and secondary weapon (rifle and pistol), is there a quick way of switching to hatchet without losing the primary? (I have the starting backpack) Thanks in advance, I did a search and couldn't find the answer to the first question so apologies for any reposting.

Essentially it boils down to necessity: it's more important to not be killed than take a chance on anothers morality. IRL we'd only make the mistake of trusting a malfeasant once and then never again. But the game mechanic is different as we get to respawn and learn from our mistakes with foreknowledge. There is no way to balance this dissonance without assaulting realism, which itself is why the game is high in integrity. Having said that: I've played a game and helped someone that was unarmed, and during those brief moments it felt special.

Q. Can zombies open doors?
Snakeman (DayZ) replied to Snakeman (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Thanks guys, that figures. If zombies are walking through walls I'll hold off entering the city until I find a proton-pack :/
