    Anti-Cheat Solution

I want to outline a few details on how it could work and why most of the concerns are not as big as you might think: - Server Admins are allowed to password protect their servers requiring registration to receive the password and play. A registration setup is required per the DayZ team to be able to lock your server. - Servers are not "locked" from the public, they require contact with Server Admins so that Server Admins can keep a running log of who has access to the server. So when everything is running smooth for weeks and all of a sudden hacking is rampant again they know where to start looking and who is "potentially" the cause. - Players on password protected servers still have the ability to come here and report Server and Admin abuse. Servers that do not provide registration and are locked will be blacklisted from the Hive. - Players attempting to take geared lives to other servers are still at the whim of registering for use of other servers. - Servers that do not require passwords will be the only ones who suffer from this potential issue along with all the other hackers who are trying to stay off the grid and will not register. But all those script kiddies are now condensed to a smaller amount of servers making them much easier to uncover and ban. Script Kiddies will be much less likely to goof around a server they had to register on. - Clans and Server Owners/Admins who do not wish to bother with the trouble of allowing registration WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PASSWORD THEIR SERVER. This will be a requirement and you would be surprised how many of us would go through the trouble to better our ability to manage and moderate. So you see the idea of password protecting the server is only a means to a bigger solution which is to take a little anonymity away which will help tone down unacceptable player behavior. So its not a fool proof plan, but its a hell of a lot better than continuing to allow this behavior to run rampant. Unless Rocket or the DayZ team can come out and say "we have a solution, its coming much sooner than later, ITS NOT JUST THE STANDALONE GAME we promise, please be patient", then I believe other solutions need to be considered. So far, all I have seen is confirmation of the complications and limitations of the Arma2 engine design and Battleye and a general "we cant fix the issue since the problem is not the mod" coming from Rocket and the DayZ team. I get why the DayZ team may not be able to do something about the problem on a software level. But on a social level you do have options.
  2. Nah, they are easy to ditch. Usually when I get a bunch of Zombies on me Ill just start running around town looking for a building and ducking behind houses. You'd be surprised how easy they are to ditch, plus you can utilize the mistake and get to know the layout of the town better. If you manage to get away you know exactly where to go look for loot.
  3. While the graphics problem is an issue, this is more the main reason unfortunately.
  4. Probably going to be waiting a long time =/
  5. Ya sorry but most of these posters are right. You say "exploits are ok" but "bugs" are unforgivable. What type of logic is that?

Question About Dieing With 12000 Blood

Could be a bug or a script kiddie, tough to say.
  7. I think there needs to be a system, but for more than 1 reason. I think bandits should not only be identified, but should also be able to have something to show for it, bragging rights so to speak. I think what will really ruin the game is the feeling that its hopeless to be anything other than a bandit. Thats the real threat and unless there is some type of incentive in either direction players will take the easy route of KoS. Maybe a way for survivors to group up. Right now you have 3 choices: 1 - Fodder 2 - Bandit 3 - Join survivor clan There area few rare exceptional lone wolfs out there, but they are rare.
  8. Where did you buy Arma2 ?

Can't Play - Afraid of Hackers

You can ban them but they can dispute the ban here. If you cannot provide proper proof your server will get blacklisted from the Hive rendering it useless. But its not like this game has decent observation tools, we literally have to run around with Fraps or something and try and catch them in the act. Its all becoming less and less worth the time and money and basically becoming silly. Server hosting companies should start advertising: "Scripter's want YOU, to run a DayZ server!"

    Dark day for script-kiddies coming

Term "hackers" is grossly misused in terms of video games.

    Dark day for script-kiddies coming

Im going to have to side with the other posters. Its a canned response and really doesnt mean anything. Thanks for trying though.

    Anti-Cheat Solution

I find this solution to be far more within reach for the DayZ team than expecting a fix before the standalone which could be Dec. Thats a long time man. Rocket very well may not be able to do anything, but I think he cares enough for the community and DayZ that if a viable solution is presented it may be taken under consideration. If implemented correctly, optional server locking is a completely viable way to help fight against cheaters. I know some people think that I'm selling this as a perfect 100% hacker free solution, but obviously its not and should never have been considered to be. What it will do is cut down on the per server hacking, give server admins/owners more control, and flush hackers into a much smaller and controlled environment. Some of these posters lead me to believe that is what really scares them.

Im with you 100%. Some people seem to think that everyone is going to lock down and not allow others in because we want to masturbate in the apocalypse or something... Being able to lock your server mean anonymous people cant log in when ever they want and we will always know who has access to our server. It would make parsing logs after a hack soooooo much easier.

Fixed. Im sorry, no one ever makes that mistake... I must be a retard, thanks for pointing that out.

    Anti-Cheat Solution

Heh 1 server admin, right.... And because hacker abuse is better than potential admin abuse and that you definitely cannot come here and tell the community that Server X and Admin Y are abusing. Lets see 1 server to report or 1000 hackers? You do the math on what is really more harmful. As far as your acceptable solutions go, do you think its really a viable solution to tell the server owners/admins to stop hosting and paying? REALLY?

    Anti-Cheat Solution

Its far more painful for clans that have their own server because legit ones like us are not server hopping, we are trying to build a community on the server we pay for, so you may have a harder time understanding our frustration if you haven't even seen a hacker. I did read your post and you began with "The only way this will happen is if", as if you have a say. Hell I don't even have a say which is why Im asking Rocket and the DayZ team and talking with the community for support. The relevance is moot because Rocket is building his own engine and part of the problems is the intended design of the Arma2 engine. So it doesn't matter what happens during the Alpha stage of the Mod because the stand alone game will not even be on this engine. So you see I did read it, I just didnt feel it had any credibility and choose to ignore most of it. Thats probably a little rude, not trying to take it out on you.

Its not so much a unfitting engine. In fact DayZ may not have even been possible without the Arma2 engines generous design and the release of this engine to anyone. The design is sound, but it was never meant to be put in a scenario with these types of server rules or a Hive. Thats where the problem really is. Dont get me wrong, these server rules are sound too in regards to the Hive design. But right now there isnt much else we can do to combat hacking sooner than later. My clan and I spend a lot of time playing detective. Its become so bad that we arent even really playing because we are spending more time uncovering hackers, parsing logs for GUID's, taking fraps videos in case we ban someone who wants to appeal just to be sure we have proof so we dont get blacklisted. I laugh at any of these players who think managing hackers in these servers is easy. They act like we are playing Battlefield or something hahaha.

    Anti-Cheat Solution

The only way this will ever happen is if Rocket allows it, plain and simple. As others have said out of respect for Rocket, his rules, and his mod I am asking. The fact that he may be considering this alone gives the idea some merit regardless of what some others are trying to say.

Im done with you AdmiralGreene, you have repeatedly over looked everything from my op to this page. You keep coming back with the same arguments which I have covered plenty of viable solutions to your concerns starting all the way back to my op. Your not even a server admin/owner and your trying to tell me what we should do and what we shouldn't or what we may or may not be willing to do to provide a healthy server. If Rocket allows it, your going to have to deal with it or stop playing. If Rocket doesnt allow it, I will have to deal with it or stop playing. But guess what? When I go, so does a server. When you go, its just one less entitled person piggybacking off others trying to tell them what to do with their time and money.

    Anti-Cheat Solution

/facepalm Why dont you rent your own server. Allow your server to be overrun by script kiddies to the point no one wants to play on it anyways. Then come back here and tell me about logical fallacies.... You have no idea what your talking about and basically sound like someone concerned that they may no longer be able to exploit and cheat in this game. Im going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say your a legit player, but you havent made a single point other than your concern that you may be unable to do what you want when you want on someone else dime which has become a serious problem for this game and the community.

Man I wish dying was the only problem, you have no idea what is happening. We have teleporters destroying entire camps. We have lost every vehicle including a chopper. We have had players teleported to the debug zone and left to die with broken legs because the respawn button doesn't work. If dying was the only issue I would not be here.

    Anti-Cheat Solution

Locking servers to allow applicants to join means you have a way of controlling and keeping track of who is playing, stop being silly. Of course someone you allow on could cause trouble, but guess what you have knowledge of them being on your server beforehand. So your saying the alternative, allow hackers to destroy the servers, is better than a few people just wanting to be left alone? Right now there are a lot of servers, do you really think its going to last until Dec? Do you really think that if something isn't done people will continue to throw money into a server for a game they cannot control? Are you really so sure its going to destroy the community if we have a little control? Or is it really going to take down the douchebaggery a few notches? Not completely, but a few notches none the less. I'm willing to bet my left nutt on the latter and if Rocket really is considering loosening the server rules as others have said, I guess Im not the only one who realizes this is only a bad idea for script kiddies and cheats.

    Anti-Cheat Solution

I understand your concern on stat padding, but with the way things are running right now I think a lot of servers would follow suit making it extremely difficult to stat pad in the way you think people would do. Besides as many have said considering the amount of scripting and duping going on, everyone is stat padding in unlocked servers as is so what difference is it really going to make?

BTW, you also realize this is how a lot of Aram2 servers handle cheaters right?
