Hero skins have bullet proof vests?!
jackcrow replied to JimmyMeatsock's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rofl, you think that all bandits are "good" at killing players. -
Humanity should reset at death
jackcrow replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No. You work for a month or more to gain a Hero skin and then get KoSed by a newbie with a hatchet in the back? Doesn't sound like fun to me. You are a total asshat for a month and you start to get frustrated that your bandit skin is getting you KoSed so you decide to die so you can start over and begin your douchebaggery a new? Doesn't sound legit to me. Hell no, reap what you sow. Consequences suck dont they?- 57 replies

Hero skins have bullet proof vests?!
jackcrow replied to JimmyMeatsock's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Guys, this is not a punishment. Its an encouragement to play one style over another. A punishment would be to make anyone with bandit status weaker. Stop bitching. -
How in the hell is that any different than what I just said? Robin Hood = STEAL's from the rich to give to the poor Robin Hood Hacker = HACKS the server to kill hackers or give weapons and items to the legit players to kill hackers You must not realize that its the server that gets hacked, not the player. The player just experiences the outcome of the server hack.

Battle Eye Bans 2000Cheaters
jackcrow replied to WakeUpDeadMan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I get so tired of seeing this "they just didnt know, its not their fault" bullshit. Look at this way, we expect every person who drives a car to have a license right? To obtain said license they must prove that they understand the rule of operating a motor vehicle and the rules for operating that vehicle on the public road. We want to be sure that every person operating a vehicle has this understanding so they do not unintentionally kill someone in another vehicle or a pedestrian. Would you forgive someone who is driving a vehicle unlicensed when they hit someone because "they didnt know" how to operate the vehicle and follow the rules of driving on public roads? The same logic applies to computers, if you dont know how to operate a computer safely and securely you have no business on the internet. Its not like we are talking rocket science here either.... -
There have been tons of people who claim to be "robin hood" hackers.

The standalone is our savior and soon to be the darkest day for these script kiddie clowns who cant even manually update their client on patch day.
-
What many are trying to say, in so many words, is that the experience is amazing at first. But when you begin to really start grouping up with people and setting goals and running missions hackers will really fuck up your day. Its not about getting attached to items or vehicles, its more like the feeling of having more fun than you have ever had in a video game and your asshat brother/sister purposely pulls out the power cord to your Nintendo. Thats what hackers are like in this game and why they ruin everything you are currently experiencing for the first time and once you begin to delve deeper into this game and experience the great things that only come when you have spent enough time off the beach, you will feel the same as us.

Yet another hacking thread...we need more POWA!
jackcrow replied to Zephyrius's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You cant minimize them from happening, you can only deal with them after they happen which generally only yields a small reprieve. Every day new script kiddies are popping up, nothing can be done accept deal with it or stop playing until standalone. -
Seattle 123 - Admin Abusing ~{SoH}~
jackcrow replied to dogact's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Maybe "The Todd" should do a littler research about the current server bugs in this ALPHA mod before claiming admin abuse B) A quick Google search will yield plenty of information to validate KNOWN bugs before you start talking to people like you know a thing or two about running a server. Im sure harassment could also be seen as a bannable offense, maybe you should stick this one out and let the adults handle the server management. -

Definitely appreciate the tips, but I also really enjoy 3rd person in most situations. -

/facepalm You clearly have little to no understanding of PC exclusive development cycles. Go back to your console games and console ports... -
Understanding Why the Game is Getting Boring
jackcrow replied to skudd3r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dude you have no fucking clue what your talking about Alpha The alpha phase of the release life cycle is the first phase to begin software testing (alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, used as the number 1). In this phase, developers generally test the software using white box techniques. Additional validation is then performed using black box or gray box techniques, by another testing team. Moving to black box testing inside the organization is known as alpha release.[2] Alpha software can be unstable and could cause crashes or data loss. The exception to this is when the alpha is available publicly (such as a pre-order bonus), in which developers normally push for stability so that their testers can test properly. External availability of alpha software is uncommon in proprietary software. However, open source software, in particular, often have publicly available alpha versions, often distributed as the raw source code of the software. The alpha phase usually ends with a feature freeze, indicating that no more features will be added to the software. At this time, the software is said to be feature complete. Beta Beta (named after the second letter of the Greek alphabet) is the software development phase following alpha. It generally begins when the software is feature complete. Software in the beta phase will generally have many more bugs in it than completed software, as well as speed/performance issues. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts to users, often incorporating usability testing. The process of delivering a beta version to the users is called beta release and this is typically the first time that the software is available outside of the organization that developed it. The users of a beta version are called beta testers. They are usually customers or prospective customers of the organization that develops the software, willing to test the software without charge, often receiving the final software free of charge or for a reduced price. Beta version software is often useful for demonstrations and previews within an organization and to prospective customers. Some developers refer to this stage as a preview, prototype, technical preview (TP), or early access. Some software is kept in perpetual beta—where new features and functionality are continually added to the software without establishing a firm "final" release. Please note the bold and underlined areas, I wouldn't want you to get lost in all this reading. People need to start looking shit up before they post their garbage..... -
Can I have your gear?

Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).
jackcrow replied to alcatraz968's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ya I dont get what the fuss is about. He said in the interview that the PC will be developed to a certain point before the games is ported to other platforms. For those of you who need it in layman's terms, any other platforms will receive a ported FROM PC version. Not the other way around. -
So, how has humanity clothing affected gameplay?
jackcrow replied to ponc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Exactly. Turbans get KoS'ed, Non-Turbans get the watchful eye and a bullet if they start acting dumb or waiving their gun around after they have been told not to. Humanity is a persistent stat which, imo is why it works. Just because someone wants to be a nice guy on their new life after weeks of murders does not make them trustworthy imo. -
Awesome, Rocket says OK to private hives! This makes me happy.
jackcrow replied to Oddzball's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why does a private server have a HIVE? A HIVE would imply multiple servers connected to it, like a Bee's Hive or Wasp Hive. A single server would not have a HIVE, it would be a private server and nothing more. Or are you guys talking about an actual private HIVE of a few selected servers? I think you guys are confusing the HIVE with the back end database. -
Less players = Less Hackers win/win

You shouldn't have did that mang
jackcrow replied to puppetworx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I shoot em all the time with SD weapons. The way they move now looks too much like a player, I dont want to mistake a bandit for a zombie. -

KOS will always be a "problem" and this is why
jackcrow replied to armyof12monkeyss's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is what we would like to believe, but it simply isnt true. There have been so many studies that prove when driven to the basic instinct to survive, self preservation is above all else. I cant convince you if you believe differently, so I will agree to disagree. -
is it worth buying arma 2 combined operations now
jackcrow replied to iReJambo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Weve got a or a few that really like to fuck with us. Opening doors and closing them, laying bear traps in walking paths of our camp, breaking legs, hoping in vehicles invisible so you cant get anyone else in. Its annoying, but the creative and less harmful ones do add something to the game youll never get anywhere else lol. -

jackcrow replied to iReJambo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dude just buy it. The standalone may not come out until Dec, maybe earlier who knows. The standalone may only cost $10, at worst $30. Combined with Arma:CO that would be a $60 game. Just realize its a alpha mod and has problems. Its also extremely unforgiving and will take you weeks to get to really get feel comfortable with exactly how to play. -

Neither of your examples or any example you can bring to the table fits into this game. Our world is Chernarus, there is no governemnt. There is no neighboring government. There is no NATO, There is no UN. Its just you and the other guys. Tell me who is bringing your relief effort? No one. Now explain to me who the guy you dont know standing next to you who hasnt eaten for a week gives a flying fuck about your moral high ground? Or the guy whos child is dying of dehydration wants to make friends so he can barter water off of you?
