Vehicle and tent saving are fixed on my server. Hell we just added in the ability to spawn items and zombies while your in a vehicle so players cant pin point when someone is in a town when driving by.

Jamming the Run "W" Button
jackcrow replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I actually do this on the direction buttons on the keyboard, then I can use WASD to prevent any "oh shit" moments during auto run. -
DayZ private server for RPG with safezones !!
jackcrow replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I like some of your ideas. My server has been live the past couple weeks and we are getting ready to open it up to the public now that we have most of the graphic glitches fixed and BE working with Lingor Units. Ive been mulling over a few ideas on how to add interesting ideas. Not a fan of "safe" zones per-say, but I did think about getting two teams together to create a constant conflict of north and south. -
So been working on getting my private Lingor up and running, hive is running locally. I going to get ready to start testing with connected players before it goes live and I think a 20 slot will be the limit. I was curious what do you guys see on "average" each connected player using bandwidth wise? I know there are contributing factors, but lets just say what is the average with someone that has a decent connection?

Private Hive Bandwidth Utilization?
jackcrow replied to jackcrow's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
For those of you that are interested in what I was looking for, here are my results: Bandwidth utilization on the interface seems to be around 500Kbps for the first two connections, but only jumps up to 1Mbps with 5 connections. I don't see any real pattern of incremented utilization, but I can definitely say that with 10 connections I was only pushing about 5Mbps on the interface. But what you need to watch out for is the spike that happens when a connection/player quits. I was seeing 1-2Mbps spikes which I can only attribute to the client shoving data down the pipe for MySQL to write. When a player connects I only see an extremely low spike and it doesn't last longer than a moment, but when a player leaves it can take close to 40 seconds before the spike drops. We did see a little bit of lag here and there if more than one player left at the same time, but funny enough not all players experienced it. Hope this helps anyone wanting to know. -
I use the Saintly flavor for Lingor, but its called vehicles.pl. Scroll down to "my $numGenerated=0;#counter for the number of generated vehicles". Here you will see what vehicles spawn, how many can be on the map, and what the chance of spawn is.

What's with these private hyves?
jackcrow replied to The Alphabeat.'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Thats wrong FYI, you do not need a key for your server platform anymore. The current server executable runs without key so you can install your personal legit copy and then run the server platform without your key so you can play your copy on your server with BE enabled. -
What's with these private hyves?
jackcrow replied to The Alphabeat.'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
They are here because we got tired of inflated server costs and rampant hacking. I used to have a official server but got tired of paying $70 a month to have a server that could meet the pre-req to be connected to the official hive just to have it hacked to shit. So now I run a private server that is healthy as fuck and when a hacker comes in I can ban their ass faster than you can say "susan". I understand that Rocket is/has done everything in his power to stop the hacking and that the cards are stacked against him, so I took matters into my own hands and my clan and the people that play on my server love me for it. Oh and just so you know Rocket didn't do this, the bastard ass script kiddies and exploiters did. I warned them that it would come to this if people didnt get more proactive against hacking, but they didn't listen. Does that answer your question? -
First little look at the New DayZ map - Fallujah
jackcrow replied to Aspects's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Your video was good, but the map just looks boring. I think Ill stick with Lingor for now, it seems to be the best. Lingor has like 4 different environment types which really makes it unique to the others. -
Private Hive Bandwidth Utilization?
jackcrow replied to jackcrow's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Thank you for the response. Ideally we will have close to a 20Mbps pipe for this 20 slot server. Upwards of 50Mbps after 6pm PST after the rest of the building leaves for the day or the weekend. But I see a lot 100Mbps recommendations and I just dont see how an individual server would require that much bandwidth, especially with a local hive. -
Takistan: Why I recommend trying it...
jackcrow replied to Obsolescence's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I didnt really like it, but thats just me. I personally favor Lingor as the best of the 3 because of all the buildings. Lots of fire fights in buildings, running around dodging zombies, and it makes things very interesting when raiding a location because unfriendly's slip in and out with ease so you are always on your toes. I also prefer the additional vehicles. Makes our clan less worried about losing them and the ration of players with vehicles makes things much more fun. Again my opinion, Takistan just isnt for me. -
If I recall correctly, its one of the batch files that you modify. You should see one that lists vehicles, then how many of each can be on the map, then their spawn chance percentage. I cant log into my box right now to tell you exactly which one though.

That seems stupid, why would the host/admin force rain during the night to make people play in the day? Everyone plays in the day, less people play at night unless they have NVG's, balls big enough to roll a flash light/chemlight/flare, a L85, or are playing on desolate servers.

How Hacking Costs Rocket (Bohemia) Money, AND WHY THAT DOESN'T MATTER (includes reply from Rocket)
jackcrow replied to jaws4096's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dang Rocket! Its nice for you to try and reason with posts like this. But the fact is these posters dont even know why hacking is such a problem. They seem to think you have a magic switch or that your mod is the root cause. Cheers to you for trying though. But I think/hope that your true loyal fans of the game understand the design of the Arma2 engine and that fact that its extremely generous with scripts and many of us also understand we wouldn't even have DayZ if it wasn't for this engines generosity, the double edge sword no doubt. -
Heh, I see what you did there

Immersion Breaker (very underrated too)
jackcrow replied to son54's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I could see this being a per server feature like turning off cross hairs and such, not a bad idea but not good enough to be mandatory imo. -
Well at least its not Thunder Dome....

Things you see that make oh you say "Oh #%$%!!!"

As soon as I started playing Lingor hahaha -
You must be new here.
-
Ok, I must be doing something wrong. I have googled and searched here on the forums and I cant seem to find information on having a Lingor Island server. I have my own system hosted and want to run a Lingor Island server. I know they are not connected to the hive, but Ive seen on the wiki that "Rocket may not like it", w/e that means. Obviously there are quite a few servers so can someone point me to some info regarding any "rules" or what not. I mean is Lingor Island even part of DayZ? Help me out =) and thanks.
-
Ah I must have been in the wrong forum heh
-
I appreciate the response, but that wasnt really what I wanted to know. Are there any rules like there are with the DayZ Cherna maps? Since its not connected to the hive I can assume we can host it on any system or bandwidth we choose and we dont have to get the DayZ team approval on it or give them access.

Humanity should reset at death
jackcrow replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
psssst..... You must be new here..... I'ma let you in on something, its not a big secret but apparently YOU didn't know..... Bandit skins were brought back... In other words, they existed before and were not a completely new feature.... Sorry but this isn't World of Warcraft this is DayZ, an alpha mod, we're not holding your hand around here. Now, get off my beans.... -
Roll on....hack free zombie fun!?
jackcrow replied to Noctover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You seem somewhat intelligent so Id like to remind you that a lot of things are being done, but the design and functionality of this engine makes achieving results much harder than you think. Standalone is our only saving grace in regards to hackers. I cant say that standalone will fix the bugs, but it WILL tone down the hacking guaranteed because the engine will not be designed to allow server side scripts. Sure there might be hacks here and there, but it wont be anything like it is today.
