This thread is in immediate co-operation with this thread so keep in mind these are separate ideas. So dying without help is totally annoying. This game is built on a simulator, but it should definitely keep game aspects to it to keep it interesting. Now, I understand that this idea is pretty out of the water but keep an open mind and read it through. Basically if you have the pack equipped from the thread I linked above, you have the ability to equip a secondary 'weapon' of a defibrillator. If you take the backpack off, the defibrillator will un-equip and take up six slots like any other secondary. The defibrillator will allow you to revive a player 75 (just an idea) seconds after his technical death. It would take quite a few seconds (something like 15) to revive the player in which case the player would do a sort of 'mounting' animation which would leave the player open to any follow-up shots. This would also increase the amount of teamplay needed to not only cover the medic, but to ensure the player that was just revived wasn't killed immediately after resurrection. Maybe both the bag and the defib will be found in a bundle. Something like 'Medic bag and defibulator'. Maybe separate items, or you can find the bag without the defib. Perhaps the bag+defib would be more of a rare item than just the bag. Just some ideas for discussion. So what do you guys think? :o This idea was also conceived by the members of my group, I don't take credit for them in any way.

I'm confused and annoyed. For three days I've been looking to find a Crash Site and I've done enough wandering around to find a few. Unfortunately for me, I've found none... A buddy of mine told me that crash sites can spawn anywhere in open fields or along hillsides. I also noticed that DayZDB removed the crash sites off of their loot map. So the real question is: Did they change the spawns of choppers, or will a map guide me to possible locations of crash site spawns?

So one of the members in my group made a suggestion that I thought was pretty neat. Figured we'd drop a forum post and see what you folks thought about it. Basically you can find another 'duffel bag' that's a bit larger than the Coyote backpack that takes up your primary weapon slot. This can be used to store basically anything that your group needs. This would be great for Medics that don't have enough room to carry supplies for an 8-10 man team. This would increase the need for teamwork as well, seeing how the Medic would only have a slot for a secondary weapon. This is an idea that I fully support seeing how my team generally has issues carrying all of the survival gear plus enough medical supplies to last for a long while. What do you guys think? Don't just give this thread a view. If you agree or disagree, or feel that something else should be added in order for this to work properly, please voice your opinion. The game is in Alpha and as someone else said "this is the time to be trying shit like this". Sharing your opinion might solve little issues with the idea, so shoot!

So my group and quite a few other people have decided that hive servers aren't worth the trouble. Not only is the anti-cheat garbage, but the server administrators are restricted to what they can and cannot do. This renders most hive servers useless in the sense that if you do get some good shit you'll end up dead to a hacker anyway. So the point of Rinaun's servers is to allow players to come in and play fairly with other people. Obviously nothing is totally cheat proof, but we've only encountered a cheater once (who was almost immediately banned). Rinaun's servers run on their own private hive, which means you can switch between the two servers and your Elektro sniper on the real hive is totally safe. If you don't like being able to get geared and not worry about being hacked to death, you can easily return to the normal hive without any problems. Rinaun's servers aren't exactly like the normal hive, however. The vehicle spawns have been increased a considerable amount along with a few custom anti-cheat scripts. This may sound bad at first, but it actually spices the game up a bit. It's pretty intense watching a chopper or two fly over shooting at each other ;) Rinaun has taken various precautionary measures to keep cheaters off of the servers, including a whitelist in which you will need to register on his forum to receive the password. As said before, nothing can be totally cheat proof, but my group has never been thunderdomed, ported, or bombed by an invisible schoolbus. Figured I'd share this with the community because I personally enjoy playing on these servers and adding a bit more population to them might be interesting ;)

Well, the point of me saying that is the fact that we've been playing for almost a month and haven't been telegibbed by anyone. The only thing hackerbro did was spawn some shit in. Rinaun checked some logs and homeboy got banned. I've seen the servers full once before without any cheaters, I've made a post like this before and the servers ended up with quite a few more players. None of them were cheating.

I brought this suggestion up a few weeks ago and it wasn't even really considered. Not sure why this would be a bad idea, but we really need a forum to organize the trade threads.

Alright, so after Rocket's post about removing humanity for the time being, but retaining the functionality (I think) I started thinking about what makes DayZ fun, and what would make it better. Not that my opinion really matters, but Rocket said he reads the forums, so I figured I'd give it a shot. This thread is still building off of brainstorming, so let me know if any of it doesn't make sense. Let's set two variables as I think about it - full negative and full positive. To reach full negative, it's pretty simple: be a bandit. Kill other players and loot their bodies for your own benefit. Reaching full positive is a bit more difficult in my opinion. Things that would help you (and others) survive would build positive humanity (like before, if I remember correctly). Things like healing someone in any way (morphine, blood bags, etc.) and perhaps killing a certain amount of zombies would give you a bonus to your humanity. This is all basic things that I do believe were already in the game. This is where it gets a little weird. I'll separate my different ideas so things don't get confusing. *As you progress through 'ranks' of negative or positive humanity, you may gain titles (I understand this is counter-productive as to the reason that Rocket removed the effect for the time being, but hear me out). As you begin going positive, perhaps your name would change color as well (this would only be on servers in which display tags unless a new system is released). These titles and name colors would distinguish what type of player you are inside DayZ. This would prevent completely friendly players from being killed by other friendly players for whatever reason... Maybe? This would also allow for the distinct discovery of bandit players, which might be bad. *As you go full negative or full positive (this probably wouldn't be easy or fast) you would gain 'feats'. These benefits would be related to what type of player you are, bandit or survivor. If you were a survivor, or 'rescuer' would be a better word for it (if you're going full positive, I mean) then maybe you would gain a feat such as... More room to carry medical supplies, faster bandaging, etc (I haven't put much thought into the feats, but if this becomes an interesting thread, I might do so at a later date). Bandits and rescuers would have a totally different set of skills or bonuses and you would not be able to aquire them both. The only way something like that could work is if you went full negative and then decided you had a change of heart and went full positive - you would then lose the bandit skill or feats as you gained humanity. Same with the opposite way around. Not sure how it would work if you died. Perhaps you lost some humanity in either way you progressing (toward the neutral mark) each time you die. Or perhaps you'd lose it completely. Either way, this would add a lot of progression to the game in my opinion. Anyways, just some ideas. Discuss? ;)

What's the deal with Green Mountain? I've never had an issue there .-.

Well I think different sized backpacks would have to be created. Carrying two Coyote backpacks would be a bit odd don't ya think?

I'm helping a buddy of mine 'fix' his database (Was having issues with vehicles spawning where they last exploded) and unfortunately Battleye ended up kicking several people, so there's a few choppers in the air. Each time the server restarts they explode... So now the issue is resetting them to where they should be respawning. So the question is this: How do you read the co-ordinates in the database of a Private hive? Example: Note: All of those are from land vehicles. If anyone could give me a link to an explanation (I've looked...) or explain it here it would be appreciated.

Dayz Graphics bug that is makes it unplayable
Tsyn replied to tortillagamer's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Defragment your harddrive and play on PSP instead. Fml... Can't get images to work right :c All fuckin' around aside, people have names those 'artifacts'. If you're on a desktop press Shift - on your numpad and type 'flush'. It should clear that up the first time, but if not, do it a few more times -
Did a bit of research and below I show strings that relate to co-ordinates. These strings were taken straight out of the database. (Asked a play to give me their coordinates and log out). [58|[6070.22|6674.55|0.0569153]] - 060086 [230|[4169|10932.2|0]] - 041043 This is melting my brain.

Well I considered your idea except there are a few flaws... But basically you're right on the money. I'll try what you're suggesting and I'll get back.

Eeeek, no sir. I'm looking at these values in navicat. You're looking at the raw SQL file ._. Check out the position in your assembled database and you'll be staring at the same thing I am. An example of the full table:
-
Okay, so what are the first and last values account for? And if I enter just 3 digits is it going to screw something up? == Could you give me an example of putting something at 061 068? The entire string of co-ordinates would be much appreciated.

So myself and my group got tired of the script kiddies so we started looking around. A buddy found a Reddit post about a non-hive group of servers that are 'hack proof'. We were intrigued about the idea after losing several vehicles, choppers, items and suits to mindless fucks that download scripts. Almost every day we'd re-acquire what we'd lost the day before but we'd end up losing it again... So after almost three days of playing on these non-hive servers, we've yet to encounter any sort of cheating. We've already been in a few intense engagements and only had one person Alt F4 on us (isn't that impressive? :D). We've got a chopper, quite a few vehicles, and ghillie suits (still lacking nvgs :c). By this time, we would've already been teleported, bombed or dropped from a kilometer in the air. Have we? No. So I guess this post is saying that the 'official' servers aren't worth a fuck. The rules, regulations and requirements are actually supporting the scripters. These 'private servers' are full proof that DayZ is capable of having less cheaters if the right effort is given. I'm very happy and if anyone is wanting to join, feel free to investigate at Rinaun. Like I said we've yet to have any issues with cheaters in any way.

But this time we're being picky. At this point we've recruited people and 'trained' each other in various ways to work together. We're a 'semi-serious' group of players looking for the same people. We're not looking to recruit a lot of people, maybe two to three, so apply and we will speak with you. We play on non-hive servers (cheater free...) so you will have to start from scratch. We will gear you with mid-tiered items until you've proven you can carry your weight - If you can't, you will be removed. We're not a group of up-tight assholes and I hope this post doesn't seem like I'm acting like an ass :\ Anyways, some guidelines: Age 18+ (exceptions may be made, so if you're 16 and think you're mature enough, feel free to apply) Required: Some game sense... Know what the game is about and how to pick which engagements to fight and which ones not to fight. The ability to abide by what you're asked. Maturity is a must. Knowing when to joke and when to shut up is needed. Microphone and the ability to communicate Being active is a plus, if you can play a little bit every other day, you should apply. These are pretty simple guidelines that I'm sure many people will meet. We'll give you a short interview type of discussion in Teamspeak and we'll get you geared and start fuckin' around. If you prove that you cannot handle any of the guidelines above, you will be removed, so don't take it personally. Apply if ya want, don't apply if ya don't want ;)

Bitches like you have snide remarks? Yeh... Game is pretty buggy... I got launched across the map by a door, killed a teammate by running into him while he was between an oiltank and a Ural, got 1-shotted by a tree, blown up by an ATV because I went over a bridge... Dunno, DayZ is a dangerous game.

Almost the moment where your mind is screaming at you to click the back button, but your body refuses the idiocy and you're forced to keep watching...

Odd player kill leads to crashed player heli (video)
Tsyn replied to ironlungs85's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Gimme yar PC? Wish I could play at that FPS much less record D: Funny shit tho, I think the dude you were shooting at the top of the hill was a duplicate of someone elses body. -
Then learn to play the game. My characters normally last about a week (7 days) before I'm killed by a hacker. If you're constantly dying by other players, perhaps you should change your playstyle and get out of the coastal cities.

My outlook: PvP is a fully-functional part of the game in which is more realistic than what other folks believe. Put yourself in the following situations: * You need something desperately, be it shelter, transportation or medical assistance. You ask someone, they decline and go about their business. Fast forward three months after the same thing happening over and over. *Again, you or maybe a loved one needs something like shelter, medical attention, food, water. They decline. Family member gets sick(er) and still needs attention. You're tired of being denied such simple necessities so you beat the person and take what you need. Perhaps the person finds you and returns the favor. Fast forward again *Same situation, only this time you kill the person and take what you need without any other conflict. You survive a healthy sinful life. But at least you're safe. Maybe the above situations aren't as realistic as they're portrayed but the idea is still there.

Heh, if you need a vehicle get a buddy and sift through the edges of the map. Every time I respawn I'll go find someone's vehicle and get regeared in about an hour or less... Depending on the server and situation sometimes sooner.

Not many people are this nice, but I know of a few people that will try to help unarmed folks.

Two Ways To Actually Fix the "Bandit Problem"

We have a bandit problem?
