as the title says, we have a server, us 1816, that is working and some people can join it, however, when i try to join the server using the internet filter (gamespy list), i get 2500 timeout and fail to connect to host. if i manually specify the host using remote and put in the IP, then i can connect without issue. after having this issue with our server, i started checking other servers and i get the same problems with a few other servers too.. mostly european (i'm stateside based), so i thought it was a route issue? we opened and forwarded all the following ports: UDP: 2302 2304 2305 27900 tcp: 28900 29900 29901 are we missing something? windows firewall is OFF for everything.

all tcp and udp? hmm.. what does 47624 do for you? when i do a netstat -a on the server, i do not see 47624 listed and i do not see any ports between 28800 - 28900.. but some gamespy research said that thes 28900, 29900, and 29901 were needed for browsing. -

i second this. empty jerry cans should be plentiful trash loot. unless you have a car and need fuel.. i mean, really, you could put fuel in a bucket, a few milk jugs, or even in ziplock bags if you needed. -
the problem is that vehicles are somewhat broken right now. if a vehicle is destroyed, it should respawn back to one of the random start points on server restart (or after a couple restarts if no one tries to fix it), however, after a server restart, the destroyed vehicle stays in its last position and the vehicle is magically fixed. in fact, any damage done to a vehicle is magically fixed (even if not completely destroyed). the only time you will ever see a vehicle at one of the spots listed on the online maps is when the server is newly created or when someone left a vehicle outside the map bounds (in the grassless area).

i made a fire on an incline to cook some. i started the fire. i went to cook the meat, i hear some sizzling sounds, and suddenly i'm unconcious with everything broken for a couple seconds while i try to figure out what just happened. then i die. i was prone on the catwalks in the big barn outside stary military tents, and while trying to check for anyone at the tents, i press Q to try to lean around a wall, only lean does not work when prone. instead, i roll off the cat walks to my death on the ground below. -

if you rejoin a server, it is supposed to automatically put you back in a legitimate area. -

confirmed hackers last night were just off the podebo damn creating 8+ helicopters, a handful of escalades, and other miscellaneous vehicles, which they then proceeded to start blowing up? i did not go close enough to check their gear or anything. i got the hell of the server. -

i was able to make the L85 have all 4 modes of vision (regular, digital, night, and thermal) today, but i could not reproduce it once i reconnected. also, one of our guys figured out how to get the night vision fal to zoom without NV on. -

Sula, if you just started and don't have much, then respawning is your best bet as we all died about 100x before figuring out the game. to answer your questions though: normally, you would want to give us your approximate location (cherno is good), then someone should pm or message back on here about being nearby or willing to come help. cherno is not normally a place people like to help as it is very dangerous. in private messages or some other private form of communication, you and the medic would pick a server and the medic would head to your approximate location, then you join in and he/she heals you. -
batteries or a cool down timer for the NVG's would be an interesting idea. you have to use them sparingly.. you wouldn't be able to just run around all night long with them on.

i always disconnect whenever a hacker shows up or there is evidence of hacking on the server. -
if everyone could get nvg's then that would diminish night time, however, once the devs can stop the hacking (or at least make it REALLY minimal), then their rarity means maybe 1 person on a server has them at any given time. everyone else is stuck using flares, chemlights (which i use a lot), or their flash light as needed. even though i've never had NVG's, i like traveling distances at night cause zombies almost never aggro and lose aggro very quickly, and other players can't see either.

The volume amount would be much better/more realistic! why does a compass or pistol mag take up the same amount of space as a rifle mag? i should be able to put 2 - 3 pistol mags in the space of a rifle mag. also, the weight would make vehicles far more interesting as they could hold gear that you can't necessarily carry and a larger pack does not give you as much of an advantage. would make carrying a car wheel and engine on your person less desirable. -

the hunting weapons should stay about the same spawn rate or decrease no more than 50%, but the military gear should go down significantly (even at military places), maybe closer to 10% of what they are now. for fighting zombies, an axe/hatchet works extremely well, and those should be in 25% or more of the loot piles especially outside of the major cities as people have to chop their own wood for heat/cooking. the double barrel and winchester and lee should spawn the most with the cz 550 spawning rarely. -
or grab the gun out of the tent and go drop it under a bush in the middle of nowhere so it is hidden and after the server restarts, the gun will despawn out of DayZ. i doubt you need to report it unless you know who spawned it. rocket and his team can see the existance of such a weapon in the hive database, but i think the wanker who spawned it must be caught in the local server logs on the server in which he was playing.

i had the exact same thing happen a couple days ago. i just had to regear up as i did not get anything back. i'd be more interested in having it start in the first place.
