if killed by zombie, you become one?
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to versus (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Could be cool, but I imagine it could put a strain on servers keeping track of all the loot going around, might cause too many problems compared to a cool but still quite trivial feature. -
Rocket says they're "infected" not "zombies" - end of argument
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to Hoogley's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Always thought DayZ had something to do with Day Zero aswell since the mod after all is about dying :P -
2 victims, one could've avoided death by ALT+F4. Why didnt they?
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to Red_Sky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Would never combat log under any circumstance. Regardless, if my mate had been shot by a sniper, even abandoning him and fleeing, would be a great betrayal, you fight together and you die together! Death is a major part of the game and you're missing out if you combat log :P knowing you could be seconds away from death at any given time, makes every moment playing this mod infinitely better than anything I've experienced in any other game so far :D -
Saw surrender could be keybound some time ago, however i assumed it would have a similar function to Restart or Respawn so didn't dare try it. Thanks for raising awareness about this to the public, and I'll do my best to do so aswell :) My hat off to you sir!

Stuck at loading screen most of the time... 1.7
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to Evilmop44's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Been stuck on 2/3rds. of the "loading" bar just waiting since yesterday. Don't know much else if it's the same problem, bug or just me being impatient. -
Don't be stupid and attack a horde of infected. And the enjoyment of this game is more about having an entire world out to get you. The game isn't balanced on purpose, the point is that you're going to die. And the story is the one you get to tell after you've survived for so and so long after facing horrible odds. Obviously seeing through walls and attacking through them is not optimal, and I'm sure Rocket would change it if he could/got the time.

Ooooooooor, you could wait until a different mod/game comes along ;) Quite sure the world isn't going to end any time soon, but if so you could hope for a zombie apocalypse ;)

[GUIDE] City Sized Maps - WIP
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to RSF TheCapulet's topic in New Player Discussion
Very impressive, would love to see something like this in the game like a separate map from the one that seems so easy to find now, maybe as a tourist guide type map with individual ones for each city or a collection, either would be fine. Great work! -
X Marks the Spot - Barrying Your Loot
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to FishInABarrel's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Very well, I see what you mean then. In any case I'm still against the idea of stashing stuff atleast in the format portrayed in this thread. I feel tents allready work in that regard if you hide them good enough in a remote location. I don't feel the need for any more mechanics that relieves the pain of dying. -
Quite like this kind of inventory, but on the premise that the infected tire aswell. Or you would simply stand no chance against the athletes we fight today.

New spawn/respawn mechanic + New starting kit mechanic.
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Allright, look at it from this point of view then. You'd never wanna enter an infected area on purpose, atleast not without a tank or two. As you've said with the idea about for instance a plane on fire, or what I imagine is the case now, being washed ashore with nothing but a makarov etc. Now, since we've established that you're not going to chernarus on purpose, why then would you get to choose your loadout? Choosing what you spawn with implies that you know you're going into an infected area on purpose. And sure, players have different playstyles, but DayZ is about survival above all else, people good with snipers can't choose to find one in a barn instead of a winchester and so on. It's about surviving with what's handed to you. If you get to choose what to receive, then part of the challenge is gone, even if it's a minor one. If you want antibiotics or blood packs you should be forced to raid a hospital, not choose to receive it upon spawn. -
More vehicles would make them less special :P and allthough less cover doesn't bother you since you have a car, think of what it does to the infected? it'd be shit easy to pick them off when they're on a big field running after your car. Would indeed fit poorly with DayZ

New spawn/respawn mechanic + New starting kit mechanic.
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not a big fan of the second idea, could be very complicated to people starting out, and could give more incentive to slaughter newly spawned people since you don't know if they carry the standard 2 cans of beans and a makarov, or something else that could be valuable to you. It seems like it would counteract the steps made to prevent spawn killing with the first idea. As for the first idea I quite like it, although I find it hard to explain why you'd be falling from the sky. Luckily that's not my job :P If you had some control over the parachute though it'd add to the possibility of joining up with your mates easily, by for instance aiming for the same village or w/e. -
X Marks the Spot - Barrying Your Loot
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to FishInABarrel's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I recall the life expectancy was around 4-5 hours not too long ago. And it seems about right to me still, since the learning curve is a bit steep I expect it'll eventually rise. As for burying loot I think the tents are fine for that purpose, with the danger of people finding it and looting it. This adds to the tention and making it a hard choice, besides being a bandit and killing people who allways dig down their shit. Eventually they're gonna get sick of finding people with just beans on them. Realisticly, you're not going to bury your shit because you expect to get killed, because you'd have no way to get to it after. So this seems like a mechanic that would make the mod seem more like trying to cater to the softcore crowd, making it easier to bounce back after death. And as such, death would be less meaningful to you, and instead of a rage attack upon dying you merely let out a sigh and start walking to your stash when you respawn. This leads me to disagree with you that stashing stuff would fit with the mod's punishing atmosphere as it would do the exact oposite. Now I don't see any mention of tents in your post and your proposal seems rather similar to the way they work, so I'll assume you don't know about them :P correct me if I'm wrong ;) Edit: in response to the posts in the thread since I started writing, I do support the idea of food rotting, where canned beans etc wouldn't as fast as raw and cooked meat would. -
Which T-Shirt design would you buy?
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Nr. 1 I'd buy without a doubt, might even force the friends I play with to buy one aswell. And as many have suggested it'd be nice for it to go off sale as beta starts up. -
I hear flys but see no body.
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to Bridude's topic in New Player Discussion
If you hear flies and see no bodies it's likely a player who's body has been hidden. As for the body sinking in the ground when trying to loot, that's the first time I've heard about. Probably a bug? -
Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to leblackdragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you feel like bandits have an unfair advantage, what's stopping you from becoming one? There's only 10% something of the player base as far as I know. Besides, it seems natural that survivors would despise the bandits because they "have no honor, integrity or just kill for personal gain." certainly survivers in a real world scenario like this, would think it unfair that bandits get off so easy. So how is this not realistic? Complaining about it on the forums only serves to proves that it is :P -
Blood Transfusion on yourself.
sindrla92@gmail.com replied to FUBAR1945's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm against this suggestion, it feels like something that would be giving people less reason to group together. If low on blood and all by yourself just ditch the blood bags and go kill a cow or two, they give plenty blood. -
I agree with Tartantyco, other than possibly loosing your shit when putting things in a full backpack I feel like it's in a good place with the delay it gives you to say, take out a rifle and some ammo. It's not something you wanna do with zombies chasing you, you're going to want to make sure you have everything ready before going in to town or w/e.
-
I think you two are being negative, certainly the infected walking through doors and attacking through walls is not ideal, and perhaps not what would be the most authentic, but when it comes to balancing I disagree. As far as I can tell it's supposed to be a rough world. Say you fire a few rounds in a village and 10-20 infected come rushing from where you only saw 5, it's hardly impossible that you missed a few and being jumped by infected is what it's all about. Fireing a gun makes quite alot of noise, and if anything the infected would overpower you if they're so and so many more than you. If you wanna survive any size infected horde then you should plan ahead to take them out, maybe find a way to bottleneck them, and not trapping yourself, making sure you allways have a way out. This is where teamwork is such a great thing, and if it's with strangers it only adds to the experience if you're not 100% sure if the guy you're with will fire at the infected or shoot you in the back of the head and run. However in terms of teaming up I completely agree with you, I would love for some way for you and your real life friends to easier group up and not spending 30 min doing so. However this would eliminate some of the feeling of washing ashore with no clue where you are with nothing with a can or two of beans. My main point is that there shouldn't be a need to balance infected any less or more, it's you and maybe some friends, against 225 km2 of infected people and bandits who all want your beans. It being hard is the entire point. If you can't enjoy a challenge or the stories you get to tell once you fall over dead then maybe the mod isn't for you.
