Pretty much all server stability issues are handled at this point. What happened was Vilayer, our hosting company, had a cluster outage in the Northwest. This is the cluster our server was attached to, and what caused close to a 24 hour downtime. Sorry about that. Things are back on track and working well at this point. Many of the server bugs have been squashed as well. Make sure to tell any admin currently online or send an email to Bjorn if you find anything new that we've yet to notice though. The server is still picking up momentum and events are taking place daily. Typically when there is more than one admin on events come one after the other as long as we feel like being creative and have the players online to facilitate it. This is also something you can contact us about. We only have so many ideas for events before we start recycling them. New ideas for things you guys want to take part in would be greatly appreciated. The F35 dogfights in debug the other night were... interesting. Haha. Improper button pressing either leads to smooth takeoff or dropping a warhead while grounded. It's a fine line. -

The other nights "Designated Target/Kill The Admins" loot event was pretty fun. Thanks to the few of you who participated. The server is going to be moving forward with a couple more people at the "moderator" level to help assist those who come across bugs or other issues with the server. Hang tight with the first tow/lift of the restart bug. That's being worked on now. We are of course still looking for many more active/regular players! -

Server is now gaining momentum! An active 8-25 players around the clock. Frequent admin hosted events as well. The more people there are to interact with, the better. Tonights event with the "Loot Humvee" in Berezino was fun. Congratulations to the winners, or the only survivors rather. -
Fix duping, and wipe characters...
thepcv replied to Reaven1911's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket can't fix hacking in DayZ in it's current state, on this engine. He's stated it MANY times. He needs to work on what makes the game enjoyable right now, and plan for the future. -
Sounds like you're playing the wrong game to me. You take the realistic out of DayZ, and you take the fun out of it. You're trying to create fun, by removing fun. Bad logic leads to bad results. I suggest you live with how the guns work in this game, or go and play a different one. The closest you'll see, to them changing combat, is by making more of the higher caliber weapons kill you faster.
-
The 870 with pellets and the flashlight attachment. If I ever even pick one of those guns up, that's it.
-
It's my favorite scoped weapon in the game. It does well with compromising in relation to all aspects. Plus if you're used to the range finding mechanic you can get shots off at varying range quite quickly, and more accurately, than other snipers.
-
That whole Pobeda area from basically north of Devils Castle over to Olsha is prime tent city area. Everyone thinks their camps are safe and out of the way there. But then people like myself, with basic common sense and a "where would I initially think to put a tent" train of thought, find all of them and take their stuff. I suggest not putting tents in that area if you want to keep the stuff for very long. If you do decide to, make sure you can hide all of it well.

Sniper hill as in the hill directly northeast out of Elektro by the powerplant? If so you can usually expect a murderer with a dmr/m107/as50 camping around the northwest treelined area or the fence. When you attempt to kill him you can most likely expect an alt-f4 or the off-chance you'll kill him and acquire his duped weapon. Have fun.
-
You can change the structure/exo-skeleton of the game and it's art direction and still keep me interested. What I enjoy are the mechanics. Top down would lose the military-sim feel which would kill the immersion quite a bit and I'd lose interest quickly. These design mechanics implemented into a Fallout 3 skin would work, or even into a cell shaded Borderlands feel geared towards fast paced combat.
-
You create things to do, make your own fun, etc. This concept is known as sandbox play. I'm quite in to armed robbery at this point, which is a blast. Sure you run the chance of the ALT+F4 douche bag and the surprising turn around that gets you killed, but it's all a part of the suspense. I suggest trying stick-ups for solo play and large scale firefights for groups. I know there are clans that peruse this forum that would gladly agree to a firefight. That design philosophy promotes many challenges and adds a sense morality to the game. You couldn't be more wrong honestly. What you are correct about though is the current implementation of it. It hasn't had enough time to become polished. We're still in an alpha stage. Six months from now will be a quite different story assuming the project has made enough progress.

Oh DayZ... (positive thread)
thepcv replied to m.w. vindicator's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You will now die in the next 4 hours of playing. Such is the way of the dew.... it is cursed. MD and the MK48 bring nothing but trouble. Superstition I know, but let's see if I'm wrong haha. -
I've yet to have a parachute function normally in patch 2.5. I've also experienced the problems many of you have had. What typically happens to me though, as stated previously, is my chute works for about 3-6 seconds and then I instantly die. I tested this about 7 times over the course of 2 days before I just gave up.

Crossbow could be my favorite weapon
thepcv replied to dillonblunts's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Haha. Basically. -
Like 9600 I think. I've no idea why as I have 4 murders and 2 bandit kills on my current character. The number seems a bit arbitrary at the moment probably due to data hiccups.

A unique point of view. Wait, no it's not. This board has it's angst filled teenagers attempting to demolish what they don't understand, sure. But so does your local high school. What you note as "possible endgame solutions" may not be as appealing as shooting some helpless fool in the face. I however find armed robbery and large scale firefights to be fantastic... I play with others who hate the idea of risking life for little gain. Oh well. We're on the internet hidden behind computers in the safety of our homes, making it easier to treat everyone like shit. Your options are to fall in with the crowd or to lead by example. I don't see your dilemma? If you feel this is one of the worst forum communities you've ever been a part of, you haven't been a part of many then. Off of the top of my head I can name 3 that I think are worse: Diablo 3's board( blizzard boards in general really), the League of Legends forum, and any of the FPS sub-forums on steam (id est Counter Strike). What you cite as downfalls are all far more prevalent in those forums. At least on here you run the chance of engaging in conversation with a developer or armed forces member intrigued by weapon mechanics. Beats the hell out of E-thuggin it with those basement dwelling neck-beards over at the Diablo forums. Granted I come across many off color threads on here typically started by an immensely ignorant American giving us all bad names in public, but that happens everywhere. The active members on here are not exactly "close-minded" and of little worth dude. Remember with that generalized statement you are pooling the forum team, dev team, and Rocket himself into said "close-minded idiotic" category. This mod has not "been designed" it is in the midst of being designed. There are kinks to work out in all respects, even in the community. Think of it as they release "box". 1 million people want to play "shape" and of that lot 500k want to play box. As box changes to square you are left with the 500k that get the gist and the other 500 move on. It will happen here, trust me. A rough example at best but it's not hard to follow. You seem to be part of the latter. The "moving on" group. Have fun and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

So basically you pity him because the moral thought processes he goes through to hack are not ideals you share? That's self righteousness and not any form of pity/empathy mate, hopefully you don't get those concepts confused again down the road. I don't condone hacking but I also don't pity the bastards. It takes all kinds to keep the world interesting.

Can I have your... oh wait... yeah.... later.

I wasn't the only one, coming into this thread, expecting a goodbye from a fellow gamer because they were leaving the game to go die somewhere, was I? I hope not.

Trading?! Wanting As50 and Ghillie Suit?
thepcv replied to sconrad's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why would you give up a DMR, or any other sniper that's not a CZ, for an AS50? Once you get better at sniping you'll learn to loathe that weapon based on ammo and audible range alone. That and the AS50 and M107 are MASSIVE weapons and give you away. If you are a crack shot, then you're obviously just crazy haha. Keep the DMR to work in tandem with the NVG's. The ghillie is quite common as far as helicopter crash spawns go though, wouldn't waste my time trading for it really. But best of luck anyways! -
Pretty much every bit you stated was either incorrect, wrong-context, or just stupid. Information exists on this website that can give you the answers you want, not deserve, yet you keep yourself ignorant to all of it for god knows why. Have fun.
