  1. In regards to the "DAYZ FORUMS" header logo? That is most likely a vector image done in illustrator. There is the off-chance that the person who made it turned it into a TTF, doubt it though.

    I have a simple question

I'd also like to add I find it fairly often in those apartment buildings that are typically grouped together. The red sided, flat-top, multi-story ones.
  3. That has an appropriate ring to it. Haha. But rudeness aside, this has to be one of the WORST places you could ask for handouts. Nothin' but internet hardasses on here, good luck.
  4. My country let's people like this own firearms and run for public office. GO 'MERICA!!! .... .... .... Exactly what Mississippi rock did you crawl out from under? Nice avatar buddy. Holdin' the rest of us back one forum post at a time I guess? On topic: I think, based on the morale concept, that killing that which is pure evil should net you some "not-so-evil" points and vice versa. But at the same time I don't like being forced to fuss with that whole role-play morality business. I want to kill who I want to kill, and having the consequences be a bit more realistic than changing clothes.... But I'll take what I can get.
  5. I agree to an extent. In the scope of the future full game I think side-channel only creates problems, which is a thought obviously shared by Rocket and his dev team as is why it's disabled. But as mentioned in the previous post, the current state of the mod needs more tools to deal with hackers. I firmly believe side-chat, respawn buttons, and third-party prevention tools are almost a necessity to enjoy the entirety of the mod at this point. Up until about 5 days ago I had never had serious issues with hackers. But now that my 3 main servers have at least 1 a day, it's hard to find places to hide... ya dig? How am I supposed to contribute anything useful on this board in the way of development when all I want to do is bitch about hackers like the majority of the people on here. Full server rights for admins could potentially do away with any of those small fixes I just mentioned, but something tells me that's not going to happen unless it's private hive.

    Nerf the zombies...

    Indeed.
  7. A .50 sniper should blow you in half regardless of where it hit's you. Also, just about any sniper minus the damage drop on the CZ can 1 hit you in the head. So uh.... you want all snipers gone? I think it fits, and I also feel the game would be missing something without a 50 cal. We maybe don't need two though....

    MP5 w/ Suppressor

One of my least favorite weapons in the mod outside of the horribly inaccurate M9 SD. What others have stated is mostly true, but I will knock it as a terrible SMG whenever I get the chance.

    Ammo glitch :/

Did I miss something or do you have a CZ550 mag with unlimited ammo? How is that a problem? Hahaha. But seriously, this is a strange bug and one I think respawning could fix nicely. If you catch my drift.
  10. "I have the money to spend on a ridiculously expensive game, so does everyone else who wants to play it!". That's what I got from your post. That is not a solution, but a workaround. Also, for REAL hackers, that $100 investment makes it so much sweeter when they hack in and blow you all up. Nothing is hack-proof, it's 2012, how have you not learned this?
  11. How can anyone hate this topic? The effort required, and knowledge of basic game mechanics itself, is worth commending the effort. That being said though I disagree with your ideal of "skill progression" for lack of a better term. While I get the concept, which is a GREAT one, I definitely don't dig the implementation. It stray's too far off, if you go deep with it, from the military-sim feel with zombies thrown in. Which is what this is, and is what makes it successful. However, as you spoke, a compromise is definitely in order. It could be something as simple as: "do X thing Y amount of times to achieve Z" or "in order to achieve Z you must achieve X via X over time/Y". A shallow "skill" system of sorts. But even the term skill system makes me cringe when it comes to this mod/arma in general. This game should try to distance itself from an RPG as best as possible, to keep it successful. The addition of humanity was a great step forward and is more akin to what I am trying to talk about. Using your idea of gun lockers and tents in conjunction with numbers is where I'll jump off on my own. What if, like humanity, we used numbers to calculate what we can and cannot do? It would keep a "skill system" to a minimum, and very shallow, but still provide many of the incentives of which you are talking about. It could even add to the idea of perma-death. What if once you had so many items on you (kept track of via a numerical tally) you were able to deploy a tent. Then if you had X amount of items in said tent (also kept track of numerically) you could deploy the gun locker. So on, and so forth. A very simple idea, not fleshed out in the slightest, but a hell of a lot easier to implement and fairly neutral to both ends of the spectrum. In retrospect this could even be applied medical supplies. Once you've used X medical supply Y times, you can then "upgrade" and start using Z medical supply. For example: Painkillers 5 times unlocks epi-pen, that 5 times unlocks antibiotics, that 5 times unlocks morphine injector, that 5 times unlocks blood bag. etc. Applying this to medical supplies would stress the importance of a single life, and promote a bit of smarter playing on the gung-ho murderers play-style. I've probably convoluted my idea with too many commas and run-ons, but I hope someone gets the gist. I think a simple system like this would be much easier to implement without breaking anything that is already in place. But even with what i've listed, which in theory works, can still create a bad sense of attachment. That sense of attachment could drastically, DRASTICALLY, change what makes this game so widely popular. Which is bad.
  12. I'd really like to see a .30-06(springfield), a combat knife, an H&K G3 in place of the FN FAL, an H&K PSG1 in place of the DMR, and an H&K MP7 in place of the PDW. The PDW occupies a sidearm spot, which is convenient, but a little out of the question as far as the MP7 goes I guess. Not sure why many of my suggestions ended up being H&K firearms, but nonetheless I'd prefer those 3 as replacements to current in-game weaponry. A wider range of explosives could be neat, as their are MANY alternatives to what we have in-game, but could possibly be "immersion breaking" which so many on here whine about. I also feel the crossbow needs a variant in the "silent weapon" category. Possibly just the addition of a compound bow. A compound/composite longbow would be a nice, opposite, addition in relation to the crossbow.

    Should the Mod be abandoned

The mod will still be the most useful testing tool for ideas, even after the eventual release of a standalone. Think of it as the difference between the League of Legends client and the public test client. You simply test the zombie horses with laser cannons idea on the mod, before you throw something ridiculous like that into the version people payed for.
  14. Someone obviously learned to analyze statistics off the back of a cereal box. You're taking population statistics and only applying variables that suit your argument. Wow. Stick to what you know, else you wind up looking like a dumb ass.
  15. So are dogs actually in? Is this confirmed anywhere? I got the "woof woof" joke Rocket made, but I figured that only applied to the full release of 1.7.3. Does anyone know if the dogs are friendly/companion-npc dogs? Or feral/zombie dogs that make life worse? Or both?

US 905 best server admin ever

If he can keep up the fast reaction and level of quality assurance on his server then I'll be impressed and may even join in. Until then, No.

    Info needed

Hey, So I only realized, about 3 days ago, that we were even on 1.7.2.4. Now I stumble into the 1.7.2.5/1.7.3 thread and get hit in the face with "timeline confusion". So does anyone have any information regarding when we can expect anything new, or maybe some useful updates outside of patches that I've missed? Other than the standalone confirmation of course, found that. If the new patch is a "when it's ready" kind of thing, then let me know, I'm fine with that. I just feel completely out of the loop haha.
  18. Somehow I knew, coming in, that this was a "some asshole tele'd me into an awful situation" thread, Haha. This sucks though by the way. My only advice is to jump off the roof and start over on a different server and hope for the best, expect the worst.

    RIP DayZ!

1 Million unique players downloaded the mod, but 1 million aren't playing each day. Game is dead. Too many bug reports in the alpha stage of a mod. Game is dead. About those hacking reports: fresh out of snarky asshole remarks, sorry. BY THE WAY: over 150k people playing each and every day is IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!! What is your statistical comparison to even come to these conclusions?
  20. RECphantom is a good example of why people in other countries despise us Americans. Trolling or not. "I spent 15 hours feeding the homeless", this year? Bet you didn't let those people into your home, bet you didn't help them find jobs, bet you barely managed to even get first names. Don't take my jab as a "I'm better than you" remark, because it's not. Just letting you know you're dropping the ball on the internet with a blaring American flag under every post. Unique, just like everyone else. On-topic: a guy can't make a thread about his favorite gun with some humor thrown in on here apparently?

    Hackers like attention

People who hack in Harriers to kill people to see if everyone freaks out tend to love attention, yes. But on the flip-side, there are those who just like to hack in the Harrier to kill everyone. Regardless of attention received, those kind of scripters/hackers will not stop.

    Most zombie kills you've had

I've had over 600 before. That death was stupid though. I currently have about 350 with a decent total of murders/bandit kills. I've seen a guy on one of my two frequent servers that had like 3300 though.
  23. This wasn't, by chance, on US755 was it?
  24. HAHA. He did bring something useful to the thread. He told you the mistakes you were making, and loosely inferred on how to stop making them. Don't ask for unsupported, private hive, information on a web forum that only deals in supported, official hive, information. Also, the chances of having a hacker are really not much lower on private hive versus official. Only the chances of said hacker being dealt with are greater.
