  1. There's an easy way to fix it: add a 10 second timer for logout after the abort button is pressed.

I Feel Bad for New Players

Running around gearing up and killing zombies is only so much fun. Online games are fun because you get to play against other humans... you know... the best type of AI. Clans and groups started forming as a result to improve the collective chance of survival. Makes sense to me.
  3. Although I don't know exactly how long it takes for an item to despawn, I know that you can pitch a tent and put items in your tent. Your tent shouldn't disappear until the server restarts, so put the items in your tent and tell your buddy where the tent is. BTW: you have to loot a tent before you can pitch one.
  4. Hi. My name is Brian. Since playing this game I have adopted a "shoot first ask questions later" attitude adaptation as 95% of players I have encountered in the game that don't shoot you on sight have an agenda to do so after they get what they want from you. That being said, I am looking for a mature group of players that operate as a tight-nit squad and look out for the group over all else. I am in the PST time zone (UTC+8), and I am interested in joining a group of players that are active during the daytime and late-night. Lets take this game to the next level. Brian
  5. oh I get it lol. I'm just over trying to work with rambunctious 14-year olds who think that their shit don't stink. I prefer a more mature, calm, calculated, and effective group of people to play with.
  6. I don't understand.
  7. I don't understand, Candyman. You post your website info in response to a request for a clan, yet your application forum is locked. Are you recruiting or not?

    shot my first bandit today

Nice job, Cupcakefury. Last night I had some swell fellows help me out as well. It's a refreshing change from the norm!

    I love this game

I'm with you, Mingus. Two or three times now I have successfully supplied up in coastal towns, headed to Starry for better gear, found it, and then quickly disposed of thereafter (usually while I'm running away from the tents). it's always heartbreaking to die, but I keep respawning and playing because this game is tons of fun!

    BattlEye initialization failed

Thanks for the detailed information, RTribesman. Thanks to you I was able to escalate my problem into the "kicked for bad player name" error. From there I just created a new player profile in the Arma II, or Arma II OA beginning menu and voila!

    Bad player name

I can confirm that this works as well. Thanks for the help!

    Updating Beta Patch Fix

First of all: thanks for your help so far. I deleted my @dayz folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@DayZ\) and reinstalled in accordance with your instructions. The good news is now the symptoms have changed from "Waiting for Host" to "kicked for bad player name" which means I'm getting somewhere. I then followed your continued instructions to replace the .dll files, but with no change. Any further ideas? Edit: I have fully solved the problem and I am able to log into servers and play. To rectify the "kicked for bad player name" error, just launch Arma II or Arma II OA from Steam, select "profile" from the beginning menu, and create a new profile. I did this and I spawned back in to exactly where I was with all of the gear that I had before this be debacle. Hope this helps!

    Updating Beta Patch Fix

Last night I updated a beta patch via Six Launcher which seems to have been the catalyst for my problem. I've tried many recommended solutions only to continue to experience the "Waiting for host" screen upon server login. Steps taken so far: I uninstalled and reinstalled Battleeye twice: no change. I also downloaded and installed the beta patch that ihasashuvel posted in the below quote. Upon attempting to run the game again after installing the quoted patch I received the infamous "Wrong CD Key" error and ultimately: no change. Any ideas? Edit: I logged into Six Launcher this morning and downloaded the new patch that sickboy linked earlier. I continue to experience the "Waiting for Host" prompt instead of the server list upon server login.
  14. So today (after a week of gamplay) I finally figured out how to equip my hatchet as a weapon. First: don't have any other weapon equipped. Second: scavenge and find yourself a trusty hatchet! Third: right click the hatchet on your toolbelt and click "Remove from toolbelt" Removing the hatchet from your toolbelt will automatically equip it as your primary weapon (as long as you don't have any other weapon equipped). Happy axe murdering!

How to equip your hatchet as a weapon.

I posted this last night only to log in this morning to see two more threads asking how to do it. Perhaps this information, along with other good newbie information, should be stickied?

    Updating Beta Patch Fix

Sorry, but I don't know which "@DayZ" folder you're referring to. May you please clarify?
  17. As with so many others, I also upgraded the beta patch via Six Launcher and now I am perpetually stuck at "Waiting for Host." I uninstalled/reinstalled Battleeye: no change. I downloaded the beta patch link that ihasashuvel posted and received the same "Wrong CD Key" error as Joeby and ultimately: no change. Please post here if anyone has an update.
