2 Ways To Make Bloodbags Useful/Increase Teamwork
herrjon replied to iongaming33@aim.com's topic in Suggestions
Well if you're looking to give blood, O- is better. If you're looking to take blood, AB+ is better. Doesn't matter what you plan to do, if you know from the start you're middle of the road blood type wise, some would see respawning as a smart move to get a better type. However if you're solely just using your own blood, types are irrelevant, no matter what you do to the system. -
Beat me to it.

Might want to rethink that. A+ can only donate to A+ and AB+. That means you can only donate to 33% of all players. -
2 Ways To Make Bloodbags Useful/Increase Teamwork

Well for the purposes of working in a group, you can just get healthy, have a buddy take blood from you, you regen back up, and you put the bags in your inventory. Then when you need blood in a pinch, the filled ones you are carrying is your own blood, so it will obviously work for you. No need to know the types and whatnot. The only real problem appears when you go around healing random people. You don't know their blood type, and unless you have an O- cow, you'll need to test their blood every time. I still think things are ok for now. By the time you've looted 5 bags and 5 IV, you've found at least 1 blood test kit. The one thing I do want is the ability to write notes on the bags, so know what type it is. I'd rather not have some magical knowledge about my blood type from the start. Blood test kit spawns could go up a bit, but not to a silly amount. There's a lot of loot spawn issues already anyways. -
What sort of player are you on DayZ? *QUIZ*

I don't like the fact that #11 After you have a gun. What do you plan to use it for? (not sure if they go in a specific order) doesn't have a "I don't carry a gun option" I know there are 6 there already, but you can slim down the other options. And yes, franchi is right, there is more than 1 type of hero. -
F) Go to the center of town, take off your pants, and bend over. In all seriousness, it just depends on the situation. If you feel like the area is really hot right now and you need to go away for more than 30 seconds, it's probably best to do so. Other times, you can leave your guy wherever for an hour and no harm will come to you. Just use your best judgement of the situation, in game and out. Just be aware, there is a log out animation, where your character stays in game and can be harmed for about 30 sec, so it's best to find cover anyways.

Sickness WILL be contagious when that sort of sickness is actually implemented. Right now all there is is food poisoning, which would be silly to be contagious. There is a "biological" value associated with the gas mask and the respirator, but nothing checks for those values yet. Basically, they will serve a purpose in terms of health, but those functions aren't in the game yet, so there's no need to wear them.

I quite like my pink hoodie (red hoodie on a female) and I go no helmet with a respirator.

What is the difference between these 2?!? Help please!
herrjon replied to arreyazat's topic in New Player Discussion
Unfortunately, no, there are no refunds. But the mod is great and fun to play, and you should look into what else Arma II has to offer. It's a great game with a lot of community driven content (like DayZ Mod) -
You can either off yourself by falling more, finding a zombie or hostile player, or eat some rotten food/alcohol/disinfectant. Otherwise, if you want to live you can come to the TMW teamspeak server, ts.tmwdayz.com. Any medics online will do their best to get to you and fix you up.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just go out exploring, see what you can see, experiment with the game and try different things. There's no point in working so hard to survive if you just cower in the forest and don't play the game. I personally would love to go all survivorman and live in the forest with minimal supplies, but since there isn't any hunting and berries are bad news, you're stuck looting buildings. You might as well see how many different places you can.

I must be doing something wrong, not a single item
herrjon replied to danny.slag's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah, especially on the coast, if the doors are open and there aren't any zeds, you won't find anything. You MIGHT (and that's a big might) find a melee weapon or some rotten fruit, but nothing too useful. Just find a well/stream/pond get hydrated, and head inland until you find an unlooted town. -
Yep, they pretty much covered it. However if you can't find morphine, you can get stick and rags and make a splint to use. There's no long term effect for using a splint, it does the same thing code wise as morphine, it just takes up more room in the inventory. It's 1 wide and 3 tall. If your leg is still broken, feel free to head to the teamspeak server ts.tmwdayz.com. A medic will be there to help you.

It's just a warning to stop eating/drinking. Once you get stuffed and get the text messages saying it, you'll want to wait a bit before intaking any more as you will vomit if you continue. The post you're referencing too was probably saying they drank until they couldn't drink anymore, to ensure their water would be full and they wouldn't have to worry about it. I personally wouldn't go that far, I would just go until I have bright green hydrated, but that post could be before they added the hydrated/energized indicators. Back then, it was typically advised to immediately find a well, drink until you're full, and then run inland until you find a town.

The blood loss with sickness is based on a percentage of your current blood. It's .1% for light and .2% for medium (a bit more to it than that, but yeah). So, for the points where they cancel out: Light Poison- Light regen = 1000 blood Light Poison- Full regen = 3000 blood Medium Poison- Light regen = 500 blood Medium Poison- Full regen = 1500 blood So basically, you won't be passing out so long as you keep some sort of regen and don't take any damage. You may pass out in the case where you have medium poisoning and only light regen (dark green energized + not thirsty) so be ready for that if your energized is not bright green. Hope that helps.
-
You'll need charcoal tablets and/or get into a regen status. You'll need to get energized and not thirsty to regain blood and not fall unconscious from blood loss, but in order to fix the health (blurry screen) you'll need to get bright green energized and hydrated. Your body will fight through the sickness after about 30 minutes, but unless you can start regening blood, chances are you won't make it through, depending on severity of the poison and your luck. If you'd like help you can go to TMW, and request aid by going to the teamspeak server ts.tmwdayz.com, otherwise best of luck.

Life Alert: Help I've fallen and can't get up. BUG; Please Fix!

I assume it's just a place holder for the time being until they decide/refine what they really want to do with it. -

They're working on it, but you'll need ALOT of batteries. More seriously and on topic, yeah, it's a bit of a bug, but if you want your leg fixed up, just seek help from TMW. Just go to the teamspeak server ts.tmwdayz.com. -
how long will take from unconscious to wake up?
herrjon replied to gamer222's topic in New Player Discussion
He was probably healing and you weren't. That or his unconsciousness he had was shock based and yours was due to blood loss. Server desync can cause shots to show hitting where they don't actually hit, so you may have just been getting him in the chest or neck or something, if they even connected at all. Not sure why you would hang around an unconscious body for 5 minutes or more, but that's probably what happened. -
Are you staying on the coast? Do the buildings you are looting have open doors when you find then? Is there a lack of zombies where you are looting? Loot only spawns on server restart, so if another player loots a building, there won't be any loot for the next player for the next few hours. The best way to counter this is to head straight inland from the get-go until you hit a town that doesn't have any open doors. You'll find more loot than you can hold.

Need Medical Assistance in DayZ SA ? Find Your medic here!
herrjon replied to TMWMarijke's topic in General Discussion
I'll apologize for that on behalf of TMW. Unfortunately not all of our medics follow the forums as closely as others. We're working on improving that response time, but is is a process. On top of that, and I generally don't like to make excuses, but with this new patch, we've experienced a surprising surge in patient numbers this past weekend. We've been busy attending to the patients that come to the teamspeak, scrounging for supplies, and just generally playing the game. Unfortunately some things fall through the cracks. You are correct though, it is just quicker and easier to come to the teamspeak right away. When someone joins our help needed channels, we do our best to find the closest available medics and heal them up asap. We don't mind being bothered on there, we just forget to refresh the forums sometimes. -
I think what the OP means is that he understand the vest is better than the chest holster and suggested a hip or leg holster, for immersion purposes and to clean up the gear a bit more. I'm sure it's on the docket, just hasn't been implemented yet.

herrjon replied to TMWMarijke's topic in General Discussion
That's just the infection progressing. You'll lose blood because the loss of blood is a % of your current blood, once you get to a certain point however, your regeneration will outweigh the infection. You'll be low, but you won't be losing. Then it's just waiting for your body to fight through the infection and regen back up. The blood loss phase is about 20-40 minutes (unless it has changed, so do your best to just find a safe place with water nearby and wait it out, if you're not planning on seeking aid from TMW. Edit: Forgot as well, if you have medium food poisoning, you will vomit, so prepare for that.
