    Moving Solo, Slow+Cautious or Fast+Reckless?

Depends on the situation. For loots, if there's an area I know I can lose zeds without any trouble, just run. Otherwise stealth-mode. In both situations I peak around all corners, and am constantly keeping an eye out for popular sniper locations. As for traveling, stick to the trees, bino any hills with a treeline, and check my six every few minutes, if not less than that. Crouch run while in the trees, less attention and I think you get thirsty/hungry slower than sprinting, could be wrong, just seems that way. If I do have to cross a field or road, just sprint and move in random zig-zags.

    NOT WORTH PLAYING (HACKERS)

I'm sure they're doing what they can, however the point still stands. Anyone who has the power to stop hackers is fully aware of the situation. OP is merely raging about the hackers which is only fueling their drive to hack.

    NOT WORTH PLAYING (HACKERS)

Can't be fixed till stand alone, simple as that. In the meantime, find a server that hackers don't go to and stay there.Whether this be due to location, population, or tough admins, they are out there. But even if you do run into one, have a good laugh and get over your death. There's plenty of other glitchy ways to lose your gear, why rage so hard over this one? Threads like this make things worse, because if hackers know they're making people ragequit over this, it makes them want to do it more.

Any point in not being murderer?

It depends on how immersed you let yourself get. I have yet to kill anyone and I plan to keep it that way. Even in a real life survival situation I wouldn't harm anyone, and wouldn't even take a gun if I knew I could outrun zeds. I have had my share of player encounters, but I try to be as carefully friendly as possible. I did have to axe a guy once, but instead of finishing him off, I bandaged him and left morphine outside the building for him. I suppose it's an ego thing, knowing you're one of the few people not being hostile to other players.
  5. Just a story of my recent Cherno spawn. It's a long one. I start at the apartments, then hospital, then firehouse, as well as other misc. buildings along the way. At this point I was very lucky, having a gillie suit, all hunting gear, 2 water bottles, misc. toolbelt items, med supplies, and an AKM and G17 with 4 mags each. I unfortunately had to log out in the pub as I lost track of time and needed to rush to work. When I logged in today, eveything seemed quiet. No loot had spawned in the pub yet, good sign. I get downstairs and hear the proverbial flies. I cautiously make my way outside and found the dead body near the street to the north. I see he has a Chech Backpack on and is holding a G17, meaning he has mags. I scope out the other buildings, and of course, I spot a player in the tower of the firehouse. I assume he is a sniper and knows I'm there, as he's pointed right at me. I suppose I could make a shot with my AKM, but I don't trust my aim, so I head into the pub hoping a CZ 550 or an Enfield spawned. I go upstairs and find loot, but no guns. Just as I'm about to check downstairs, I hear zombies below me, lot's of them. Then, gunfire, sounded like a Makarov, definately a pistol. Then screams of a survivor being eaten alive. Someone had agroed a bunch of zombies into the pub and was holding out by the bathroom. The noise stops and I approach the area cautiously. We both get a quick look at each other before retreating back into opposite rooms. It seems he made it out alive, and could have ammo left to kill me if he wanted, but I had the advantage, bigger gun and better territory. I had 3 doors and he was trapped. I want to help him, but I proceed with caution. The chat was as follows. (me): "Are you ok in there? Do you need any meds?" *silence* (me): "I want to help you. I have bloodbags and stuff, just come out unarmed." *silence* (me): "Please respond or I will fire." (him): "I'm friendly! Don't shoot!" (him): "Please just leave me alone." (me): "Are you sure? I can heal you. You just need to come out unarmed." (him): "No I'm good. Just looting" I then tell him I'm leaving a couple cooked meat for him under the stairs, and warned him of the sniper. He was grateful for that and we parted ways. I suppose he did have cause to fear me, wearing a gillie suit and using an AK, I'd be scared too. It was strange being on the other side of the big gun. I felt bad for him and wanted to help him, but I understand why he wouldn't be so trusting. Back outside, I see the sniper is still there, and I have no reliable way of dealing with him. I decide to swing around and flank him, unoticed. I hit up the supermarket on the way, hoping for a gun. No dice, just two dead players, food and pop, and toolbelt stuff I already have. I find an angle of aproach, blocking his LOS with a large tree. I still don't know what I intend to to when I get in there. I've never killed before, and I certainly don't want start now, but I still need a good pack and some ammo before I leave. I just hope I'm able to knock him out long enough to loot my dead friend by the pub. I get to the firehouse. All entrances are heavily blocked with barbed wire and sandbags. Thanks too my toolbox and a little luck, I get in quickly. What I found was jaw dropping. A trail of dead players went from the door up the stairs into the tower. I heard nothing but flies. I didn't want to take the time to loot them yet, but I counted as I went up, a total of 10 lined the staircase and landing. Clearly something bad happened here, and either I just missed it, or I was just in time. I'm filled with anger towards this mystery player on the top of the tower, and throw away any reservations about killing. I was intent on killing that bastard. I get to the floor just below the top. I'm unsure of if he knows I'm here or not, so take the cowards way. I line up a throw to bounch a frag grenade off the wall all kill anything up there. My aim was true and it exlodes in the top floor. But wait, I still have no kills and there was nothing on the kill feed. I creep up to investigate and find him, just standing there. In a panic I unload a full mag of my AKM on him. When the smoke clears, he's still standing there, not moving. It turns out in this large battle this player glitched when he died and remained standing. I could loot and examine his body like any other corpse. I was worked up over nothing. I breathe a sigh of relief that is quickly interrupted by what sounds like all the zombies in Cherno. Thankfully the barricades kept them outside and up front. I had time to loot and hide all the bodies in the tower. Most were cleaned out, but I did get 4 AKM mags and an ALICE pack. I used the ladder to glitch out on the roof to leave. There were two more bodies, making the total count of this blood bath 16. Nothing useful, just hid them and moved on. After going back to the pub to finally loot the first body, I find 2 G17 mags. I took them, went onto chat saying a prayer for the victims of the Cherno firehouse massacre, and left that crazy city behind me.
  6. lol watched that, pretty awesome. Wasn't the same event, since that was a week ago in Elektro and this was yesterday in Cherno. But the point is the same, firehouses are bloody dangerous.

    I love this game

Well, you can use an online map, or pray you find random meds in your next town. Hospitals are only on the coast though, if you wanted a sure thing. Ammo is everywhere, but look for barns and deer stands. Good luck!
  8. Hello again Atre. Sometimes you just get lucky like that. I've seen a commentary where a guy finds two matches and a rifle in a log cabin. Glad you got what you were looking for. It sucks to get lost in the forest, can't tell you how many times that has happened before. North at night? Hope you get a compass and/or gps, otherwise use the general position of the moon. If you can see the movement of the clouds, they always move from west to east, but some consider this unrealistic and ignore this method in order to stay immersed. GPS spawn in military but are rare (less than 1/5 a percent) and compasses are found in residential, about 1%-2% almost everywhere (residential). I would definately recommend hitting Pustoska for a compass, but if that doesn't pan out, there is an office building in Vybor, across the street from the supermarket there. Again, traveling there directly can be dangerous, being flat and baron, so you can ether sprint near the main road or travel in the forest to the west of it until you get just South of Lopatino, then you can find a nice big hill just north of Vybor to scope out your area and plan a route. It overlooks the supermarket area, for quick, focused raids. If I'm leading you into an area you don't want to go, feel free to ignore me. I realise Vybor is a stone's throw away from NW Airfield, but if you're smart and careful, it can give you some nice, non-military loot. The Pustoshka/Vybor area is where I tend to hang around when playing solo hunter/gatherer, and it hasn't let me down so far. Two supermarkets, an office building, plenty of deer stands, and farmland to the east for easy cow hunting. But your the survior, you go where you see most fit.

thought cherno was a pvp hotspot?

Recent Cherno exploration, on a 15/50 server, I was in the pub, hear flies, so I go outside and find a body. I scope it out and see a guy standing in the top of the firehouse across the way. I get under cover and sneak around to approach it under cover. All doors are barbed and baracaded, but with a little luck I get in. What I find is a pile of dead bodies at to bottom of the stairs. As I walk up I find more. 10 in total. I don't hear any movement so I line up a frag grenade throw to the top floor. I didn't see a death so I go up to investigate. He's still standing there so I unload a AKM clip into him, still standing. It turns out he died but glitched out so he didn't fall to the ground. I also found 2 bodies on the roof, and 2 in the nearby supermarket. Total of 16 recently dead bodies in Cherno, within a 200m radius. If that isn't a sign of a PvP hotspot, I dunno what is.

    so i heard gunshoots

For me, logging out any other time than quitting for the day would ruin the game for me. It's supposed to simulate the experience of survival, you have to feel like you're in the world fighting for your life, and if you rely on a 'get-out-of-jail-free card' when things get dicey, that breaks the immersion and the experience, as well as severely lowers the difficulty. You can't logout of life. It's ok if there's clearly hackers (teleporting, invincible people/vehicles, thunderdome, nuclear bombs, etc.) because they break the immersion when they do impossible things, but aside from that, I'd rather stay in character and fight it out. If I die that means I was careless and need to not do what I did next time. Just my 2 cents.

    What about Green Mountain?

I've been there twice. Once during the day, once at night. I did my usual scans of the area while I was there and didn't see anything strange. Just a pile of dead bodies that freaked me out cause I though it was a player (heard the flies) and lots of dead zeds up front with lots of others wandering around. Could be that I have yet to kill anyone, dunno, but I haven't witnessed the horrors of Green Mountain...yet.

thought cherno was a pvp hotspot?

Either you were on a low population server or you got lucky. My last Cherno run, I heard gunshots, car horns, and the screams of someone getting eaten by zeds. It's typically an active city, but sometimes not. Just gotta stay alert and pray.

    Medic Clans?

So I've gotten my kick of solo play for now and I want to begin teaming up with people. My problem is I don't want to kill anyone in cold blood. I recall seeing some form of medic clan or rescue force, but I can't remember where. Do such groups exists, where they help players rather than hunt? Any recommendations?
  14. herrjon

    Medic Clans?

Cheers. Seems to be a pretty big operation. I want to help people, but I can't do it without having someone cover me incase things go south.
  15. Scout out in the forest to the SW of town. You should be able to see the supermarket just outside town. Get in, look for matches and get out. It's a bigger city, but there aren't really any good spawns in it aside from the market. Also make sure to hit up the barn to the South. If you still need matches after Zeleno, head further North to Pustoska and Vybor. They both have markets, and the spawns reset during travel time back and forth resets the spawns, if no one else is around, so you can run back and forth between the two until you get matches. There isn't a lot of cover between the cities however, so make sure to move erratically and keep your ears and eyes open. The area to the West of those two also has 4 deer stands you can check for military guns.

How fun is this game solo?

@cellphonegaming DO NOT prone through doors. As of now you have a chance of getting your legs stuck in the wall/door and breaking your leg and bleeding out, or just dying instantly. I gather you have been lucky so far, but I wouldn't count on it. You can loot the better places as a solo on moderately populated servers, you just need to be careful. Scope out every treeline, look for Zeds spawning in odd areas, and when you're not in cover and could be sniped, never stop moving. This is much easier to do with a squad (sniper, scout, spotter, runner, etc.) but you have to divide the goods amongst each other. Lone wolves get it all to themselves. Basic risk/reward scenario.

Few noob questions, please help :)

I suppose you could store your stuff on a low pop/private server, but it's not in good taste. Intentional server hopping for supplies is one of the few strategies that is frowned upon in Day Z, right before alt +f4'ing in battle. It can also be very time consuming from loading times and walking times, since you would always have to walk back to where your vehicle or camp is back on the private. Dunno about vehicle storage, haven't found one yet personally.
  18. right ctrl + M gives you a mini-map if you have a GPS. It's pretty small, but it helps navigate towns.
  19. If your crossing a field and you think there are snipers around, just run for it, a running target is harder to hit than a crawling target. Basically if you're in Cherno/Elektro, just run. You can ignore Zed since there's so many 2 doored buildings
  20. I was using my GPS to find out which town I was near. When I pulled it up, there were two moving markers both labeled 'Man'. There were also Zed's running about even though I was a good 500m away. So can I really see players or is this a bug, exploit, or server specific thing?
  21. Well, he had an axe, you had guns. He wants your guns to survive, so he kills you and takes them. More reliable method of survival then him saying "hey let's be friends and you can babysit me" when you are just as likely to kill him for food or something. It's not all deathmatch mentality, people need supplies, and you have them.

    Where am i ?

Well I don't know exactly where you are in Elektro, but if you want to get to Cherno, just put the coast to your left and walk forward.
  23. herrjon

Few noob questions, please help :)

You can store things in tents and vehicles, but they are server specific, so you'll have to play on only that server, or at least log into it first to grab your stuff. It's kinda a toss up on what happens on patches and reset, it's intended to save your stuff regardless, so long as you save the tent/vehicle, but tents are buggy, so don't rage when you come back and all your stuff is gone. Also to that effect, they can be looted by other players who happen upon them, so don't set up your tent in the middle of Cherno, find a low-no traffic place in the forest. People may still find it, but that's how the game goes. My current gear I got by stumbling upon a clan camp, so I'm decked out Gillie suit and all. Depends on the server for restart times. A lot do it just to keep it 24/7 daylight. You'll usually see a 10 min warning in the chat. ALICE is the 2nd biggest. The Coyote Backpack is the largest with 24 slots but they're rare, and only found in military spawns. If you aren't trying to carry around 2 rifles, ALICE should suit your needs just fine.

How fun is this game solo?

I've played solo the whole time. Loved every second of it. It makes you so paranoid and I love that, getting a pit in your stomach every time you see a treeline, every time you enter a town, every time you decide to what to take and leave from a loot pile. Every decision could kill you or save your life. I wouldn't mind being on a team I suppose, but I'm having a grand ol' time lone wolfing it up North for the time being.
