Oh yeah, also when you spawn in, it says your location in the bottom right corner, so you can at least get a general area of where you are.

I go around with a bag full of meds helping out anyone in need. Now that the bandit skin is back, it makes my job so much easier. I'm careful enough to not get killed, but if I do, all I need is a trip to the hospital and I'm set again.

Six updater hasn't gotten the newest patch yet, you'll have to update manual or switch to a different program like Day Z Commander in order to play 1.7.2.5. Can't say much for good servers, I haven't settled in to one yet, but think your issue isn't related to that. Check your video options, your normal ratio and 3D ratio should be the same, otherwise it'll blur.

Did you have enough space in your bag? Sidearms take up 5 slots.

You know, I've yet to make it up there. I usually stick to Pustoshka and Vybor area, and it's pretty quiet there, but I'll get to Berezino and Krasnostav eventually.

k, bye. I honestly don't mind the hackers. I can avoid them and when I do get in a server with them, I have a good laugh at silliness of it and start over. You can't be attached to your stuff or your life, if hackers aren't going to take it, the game will, it's called Alpha. Try it again once it's done I suppose.

That's a shame, I just found 3 compasses in my last Cherno run, but only grabbed the one. Granted I only found 1 in the apartments and found 2 off a dead body, but still. I can run mine up to you if you really needed one. As for Stary, like any other loot, it just comes down to luck. I know the one time I made it to NW Airfield, all I came out with is an AKM. And the guy in Stary, he probably alt+f4'd. I wouldn't bother being friendly up North, much less in Stary. If you do want to communicate with them, you have to be less than 100m away from them I believe and hope they pay attention. I once had to say "respond or I will shoot" to get a guy to come out so I could heal him. Sign of kindness also helps such as killing Zeds and other players, just don't shoot near them, they'll take that as aggression. Even if they respond you have to be careful, he can very easily be lining up a shot, or letting his sniper buddy line up a shot. Sounds like you're near Zub castle, I'd check it out for your compass, it has been pretty good to me in the past.

Wow, quite the lucky run there. Not exactly safe, but you lucked out in the end. By the sounds of it you took the path I took my last life, Kamenka, to barn, to Balota, to airstrip, to Cherno. It can be one of the better spawns imo because you can get geared up for Cherno on your way there. Just be careful with that SVD Camo, everyone's going to want it so you'll see 0 friendlies.

1. In game maps are most easily found in supermarkets, otherwise use http://dayzdb.com/map 2. You can use them to distract idle zeds and break hospital windows, aside from that, nothing. 3. It more or less comes down to luck sometimes. My last Cherno run, I found every single common gun and every type of AK, all with mags. Walk out with a M1911 with 7 mags and an AK-74 Kobra with 11 mags. Best chance though would be firehouses, deerstands, barns, supermarkets, and pubs, in that order. Typically when a loot gun spawns in, the game will spawn 2 mags for said gun, unfortunately if another player beats you to it, they can just grab the mags if they already have the gun, or swap out the new gun for their old gun they used all the ammo for. Best advice is to horde any ammo you see until you get a gun.

I was in Chero looking for some food, when I hear gunshots nearby. They were behind me so I look back, see nothing, and assume the way is clear. I decide to run through the building east of the supermarket, when I bump into two guys, holding some decent guns. I panic and open fire on them with my AKM. I knock out one of them and the other holds fire. Turns out they found guns, but no ammo. I felt terrible, I attempted to bandage my victim before zeds showed up, but I was too late. I had to kill the zeds and by this time, he died. During this his buddy decided to loot my pack, nothing too great, just a full water bottle and some morphine and blood bags. He ran off after that, even though I had an epi-pen he could've used on his friend. Coward. I then notice on my debug, it was 1 bandit kill, not a murder. This softens the blow, but I still killed a guy, a guy who couldn't kill me back. I said a prayer for him and went on my way. Did I do the right thing? Did I do the smart thing? Or am I giving in to the shoot on sight mentality? I'm considering not carrying a gun at all.

So I just killed again. Balota Airfield. Guy came at me from the side with an axe, broke my leg, I unloaded my M1014. Bandit kill. No morphine. Now I'm stuck here with 3k blood and a broken leg. Hopefully that guy in side chat pulls through.

There was no 'staying low'. It was that building with stairs that go nowhere and the loot room you have to go through two doors to get to. I had gone through the first and was ready to peak around the corner then they came out of the corner, point blank. Didn't hear or see them until I was in spitting range. If they did have ammo they would've made quick work of me in a 2v1 where I have to stumble through a door. Also the gunshot I assume wasn't them, since it was behind me instead of in front. I wasn't quite sure but it sounded like a DMR, so I was trying to lay low in a building until I got my bearings.

Go prone if they get really close. Do your best to keep their backs to you. Use alt+look to turn your head without moving your body to survey your surroundings, limiting noise. Do your best to predict their wandering path. All else fails, run through a building with two doors and lose them easily.

Two times today I've been scoping out a town from the treeline with my binos and spotted players in town, 300-400m away. First one was a relatively fresh spawn in Cherno, standing at the top of some winding staircase in the factory area, scoping out the treeline with his binos. I'm not sure of the name of the building, but he was very open and vulnerable. If I had a rifle I could've fired a warning shot to scare him into getting cover. Not gonna kill for a Makarov and maybe some beans. Second I was on Dobryy hill checking out the northern firehouse, and Elektro in general. Watched as a guy agroed some zeds, fired shots, agroed more zeds, and went into the firehouse to hide, of all places. He loses them and goes up the tower for loot, then I see another player just show up (probably prone in a corner) from the top floor and take him out. He stood over the body a number of times, in between zeds showing up, and it would've been a piece of cake sniping from that range (350m). If I had a rifle I could've avenged the death of the first stranger, and taken all the loot. I know where they are, they are just never there. I can only hope I finally get a good deerstand loot. I've been to over 20 of them and the only military thing I ever found was a G17, and I guess ammo I'd never get to use.

I must just have terrible luck then as far as sniper rifles are concerned. I've been in probably every barn and deerstand I've been near since I started playing, no snipers. I have gotten other good stuff of course, so it's not that bad, just wish I had something to deal with people from a distance. On a side note, how accurate is the AKM at a distance? I noticed it had zeroing at decent range, preset to 300, but I never trusted it enough to try it.

Any tips on where to find one? I know fields, but I spent a good deal of time up North, didn't see anything.

Supermarkets are your best bet, otherwise general residential spawns. Once you get your hands on a water bottle or two, you should never go thirsty. I carry 3 right now, just because I'm paranoid like that, but honestly I've only ever drank the 2nd one twice, and both times I was able to refill within a couple minutes. Just gotta keep and eye out for bodies of water and wells.

You can use this http://dayzdb.com/ma.../map, otherwise, if you want basic weapons go to barns. If you want military weapons, go to deerstands, firehouses, stary tents, and airfields. Hospitals for medical, very imoprtant, more so than a gun. Supermarkets for food, drink, and hunting gear. Basically if want anything other than basic guns, you need to head into a town or military area. Problem is, it's risky. Also, the only thing you will find in the woods is maybe a tent that may or may not be empty. Loot and zeds don't spawn in forests, only in and around buildings.

You wouldn't happen to be in Green Mountain, would you? That or it's just a glitch/hack you'll have to recover from. I'd run an injector and bloodbag out to you, but I'm busy today so you'd have to wait until tonight.
