    questions about maps

You can combine 2 adjacent quarter maps into a half. You can combine 2 halves so long as they don't overlap. I've found my map parts in gas stations and in cars back when they spawned loot. I'd take the other people's advice.

    Ranking Of Melee Weapons ?

If you don't have the 1 of the 2 axes just use fists and leave the others behind. Everything else is garbage and should be left behind. Any other melee will increase your viability (especially the fire extinguisher) and make you seem as more of a "threat" to other players. And for that you'll be spending more time and taking more damage trying to kill zeds with them compared to simply punching them in the face and sprinting away, and if it came down to a melee fight with another player, fists will always win.
  3. Just to make sure, this is for the mod of Arma 2 OA and not days standalone correct? At any rate head to the team speak server ts.tmwdayz.com and we'll do what we can to help.

I really want bayonets to work...

Are you not finding any melee weapons or something? They do exist are are quite useful in melee combat. Really though, it's being worked on, would be silly for them to have them if they didn't. Just be smart about when to have your gun out and when to have your ax/fists out.

    A list of questions :)

For more useful info check out these videos http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/159251-merinos-in-depth-video-guides-feb-11th-updated-to-034115106-new-status-indicators-rebalancing-of-hunger-thirst-stomach-blood-and-health-reg/
  6. That awkward moment when you throw on a motorcycle helmet and see how much of a "threat" they really are.
  7. I have not shot/attacked anyone much less kill anyone; also been healing and helping and the only time I've "died" is when they wiped the database a bit after launch. KOS is just a play style. Your mortality rate is totally up to you. And no on the humanity system. No matter what you do it's going to be bad. Let people's actions show, not throw them into an arbitrary group.

    Help with finding current location?

It's cool, no hard feeling. I tend to go on anecdotes that some take as an insult or something, but no biggie. Anyways OP glad you got back on track. Have fun at the airfield and best of luck with your future travels.
  9. It's just a playstyle, a quite boring and cowardly one, but a playstyle none the less. They can get their kicks and I'll laugh as I watch them get taken out by a guy with a pipe wrench because they can't hit the broad side of a firestation.

    "Frankie" Hero mentality

I could care less about what Frankie or any other DayZ "celebrity" does, I don't shoot for the sake of saving lives. If I see someone that I don't want to help, I avoid them. If someone seems me and contacts me, I say my piece and disengage any way I can. If someone shoots at me and I don't die by the first shot, I seek cover and escape. There's no need for me to take someone's life into my own hands and pull a trigger. It takes a better man and a more skilled man to spare a life rather than take one.

    The Curse of Green Mountain

It was a dark and stormy night. 4 friends were scrounging for parts to fix a broken down GAZ in Stary Sobor. 2 of them headed to Zelenogorsk and along the way, they noticed a large radio tower on a hill. One of the survivors wanted to check it out, figuring there would be something special to find. The other wasn't keen on the idea, saying it didn't feel right. The first survivor went for it anyways, alone. It ended quickly with a strike of lightning on the tower, a few shots of his shotguns and screams of his mouth. He managed to barely escape with his life. When the other survivor asked what happened, he didn't want to talk about it and merely said "I wouldn't go back there even if you gave me NVG's to do it." That actually did happen (with a bit of fluff for story telling) but any experience I've had with Green Mountain at night has never been pretty. I did used to have a tent stashed there that never got touched, but that's for good reason. Nice research on the history of it, great job.

    Help with finding current location?

Is it sad that I knew exactly where you were by the first screenshot? As others have said grid ref 019 046. I recommend going out and learning some navigation skills. Learn how to find North, go into the wilderness, get yourself lost, and find your way back to civilization. Avoid relying on a compass if you can. I personally have my HC character roaming around the wilds of the North right now, been up there for a few days now, and I could probably triangulate my location down to a couple hundred meters.
  13. Well we usually have to give food when healing people and water is easy enough to get with the current system. We generally avoid handing out weapons much less ammo for them. With the way things are, ammo is easy enough to find. If you don't know where to find it, you probably shouldn't be using it. Some members have gone out and given gear to new spawns, either in person or goody bags in spawn areas, I don't think we'll officially as a group go out and do that. We'll focus on the medical side of things. There are plenty of groups already providing supplies and protection to people. We aren't delivery boys, cops or taxi drivers, we're medics.
  14. Isn't it the area NW of Dubrovka? Around 099 049? I know both in the mod and SA it isn't actually marked on any map, but it does have the signs and such. I'd have to travel back there to make sure, but that's my hunch. Could be "North Dubrovka" or something.

DayZ Standalone (where is the airbase?)

Sounds like you went though Elektro docks and made it to Cap Galova. Was the area with storage crates and such have a lot of other buildings and a large dock area with cranes? Was it by a larger city, or just a small town? And for the lighthouse, was it on a peninsula, with a rocky mountain on the other side of the road? Is there a marsh further along? Assuming you're at Cap Galova and it's Balota Airstrip you're headed for, you've got about 3.2 km as the crow flies, but since the coast line does bend and you've got a city area to go through, you're looking at 4-5 km run yet. It's probably equal to what you've gone so far, assuming you started 3 Valley/Solnichniy area, but if you think that's a long trip, you should go up to the wilds of the North. I would recommend checking out Cherno and its suburbs on the way though, especially if you need to stock up on any residential loot or medical supplies. It's a great area to get lost in, and based on the way it sounds, you won't survive Balota Airstrip. Might as well enjoy the trip.

How does a "rotten" apple become "pristine"?

It's rotten but has been kept in pristine condition. Conversely, you can take a fresh apple and smash it to pieces. It's ruined, but still fresh.
  17. Yeah, and even if someone says they're O- we would still have to check. Can't leave our patients' lives in the hands of some AB+ troll. We have a few O- members and we just periodically draw from them. It works just fine for now. If things change, we'll have to see.

    Chernarus Blood Drive

Yeah, like I said, for our stocks we're fine. I still have 12 full bags of O- on my character right now. If things change such as bags going bad or something, things may change. The one thing I do see us potentially doing is drawing blood from people, getting them healthy, and giving them the bags to use on themselves if they need a pick me up. However, they would still need someone to administer it and it may get ruined when they get hurt, so personally it seems like a waste of supplies, but there could be something there.

    Chernarus Blood Drive

The problem is (beyond security) is the the blood type system and the lack of blood test kits currently. We would need to test every donor and when using that blood we would need to test the patient. We would need a load of test kits. Currently what tmw does is we have members with O- who we periodically draw blood from and they regeneration the blood. It's working fine right now, but if things change we can look into it. No doubt it would be a fun event though.

    Insta-Ladder Death

If we're diverting to the topic of weird leg breaks, I was running over the beach area leading up to Rify and I guess I tripped on a rock or something because my legs broke.

    My ultimate friendly outfit

There's "I'm a friendly chap" and "Hey look at me! I got lewt!" and that is more on the latter side. I've found the blues to be a nice choice, doesn't say you're hiding from anyone, but you also don't stand out. It's also a calming color compared to orange which is more on the aggressive side (not as bad as red, but still) it's also a natural warning color, to avoid or be cautious around. If you can spare it you may want to go with sticking the axe in the backpack, or downsize the pack. If you need more inventory space, you could look into getting a light vest or press vest. Headgear is decent, I personally stick with baseball cap or no hat, and a respirator if I can get my hands on one (I am a medic after all) but it's better than masks and ballistic helmets/motorcycle helmets. A fun thing I've found is on the female, if you wear a red hoodie, it actually turns out pink. I've been holding onto the same pink hoodie since SA released. Haven't found any other gender specifics colors yet though.

    Insta-Ladder Death

If you value your life, your legs, or the contents of your pockets, don't even touch a ladder. It's widely known they are extremely buggy atm so just do your best to avoid them, even if it means passing up some phat lewt. I personally won't touch them until I read "ladders fixed" in the patch notes, and even then that'll be on experimental for testing.

Nowhere to go when up north.

Just go lose yourself in the woods, fields, and mountains up North. Just go and enjoy nature and see how long it takes you before you have to find your way back for supplies. Needless to say, I can't wait until we can hunt and I can go live in the woods indefinitely.
  24. Yes, we test our fate and fights the spirits that haunt Green Mountain to help those in need. You've got the right idea heading to the TS. I won't be there myself as I'm not near my gaming computer, but we have plenty of medics online.
  25. Stop trying to handcuff illusionists and amputees and you'll be fine
