  1. I would help you out, but I wouldn't be able to until later tonight.

    Need pickup

That's only a 10-15 min sprint, with not a lot of hot spots on the way. Just run son.
  3. I try to be friendly to others. This doesn't mean I'm stupid and completely trusting. I know they're eying my gear. If I heal some, I ask them to drop their weapons and axe away from them and come to me in a secluded location. If I give out gun, I tell them they cannot pick it up for 30 sec to a minute or I will not hesitate to shoot them, and either back away facing them or run away using alt+look, watching then gun and them. I also don't bring my best gear out when I'm helping people in Cherno. Take a Winchester or something, just a big gun to give me a little presence, but nothing that I couldn't find again within 10 minutes.

    Hello fellow survivors :)

Good for you man. I try my best to help other people out, but it's tough without some form of out of game arrangement. I do however carry at least 2 blood bags, 2 epi-pens, 5 bandages, 3 painkillers, and 4 morphine (I'm a broken leg paranoid), with more stashed back at my camp. Sure it doesn't leave me much room for food, water, or ammo, but most of my paths run me through a market every kilometer or so, and I don't fire my guns much. I do carry military guns, but I find them better if I'm in a sticky situation with some bandits, and I can play guardian angel from some newbie running through Cherno using my sniper rifle. I'd love to play with you, but I can't play outside US without god awful ping.

    Tents disappearing?

Just logged in to my server, all my tents are now gone. Just just the stuff in them, but the actual tents. Any specific reason why this happened? Any chance of them coming back? I've had them for a couple days now, so it shouldn't be just the server resetting. Not raging, I was prepared for bugs, just want to know if I did anything wrong.

    Whats the point of Humanity?

The goal is to identify the "good guys" and the "bad guys". Repeat killers get a bandit skin and a made a target for other players, whereas people who help others earn a hero skin, a sign that they help people and may not shoot you on sight. Now, obvious the system is flawed in some fundamental ways, self-defense kills net negative humanity, bandits can easily spam transfusions with a friend to get a hero skin to seem friendly and get easy kills, among other, but the goal at least is to punish murders and reward helpful players.

    Hacker?

How long did it take you to change your mind? The person who placed the tents is able to pack them back up. They probably went to find their stuff gone and realized their location was compromised and moved. Could have also gone back to a different cluster of trees. Also, was there a server reset between the visits? This can cause tents to disappear.

how to get geared up in an hour?

That's why it's important to be aware of as much as possible when in danger zones. Know where every zed is and what direction they're facing. You can tell when they're going to attack by the sounds they make usually. If you're being chased and there is is a zed ahead, weave around him, all it takes is one swipe. For now, use 3rd person to peek around corners before you actually go around them so you don't bump into a zed. And just remember, if you have 50 of the chasing you, as long as your standing and don't stop moving, they can't hurt you.

    Need medical assistance!

I can help you if you still need it, just PM me and we'll work something out.

    How do you loot?

Crouch run around, stick to walls and general cover, stay off concrete, and keep an eye out for zeds. If you do pull aggro, stand up and run, looking for a two door building (there's TONS of them in Cherno). Run through it and go back to crouch run. If you can't find said building, bank around tight corners and break line of sight as much as possible until you've lost them. It's a good quick start if you have nothing to lose, but as far as going back, meds my friend. The only places you can get blood bags is hospitals which are only in Cherno, Elektro, and Berezino. Unless you're near the NE, you'll have to go to Cherno/Elektro for meds. Yes Morphine does spawn in other locations, but I'd rather go for the sure thing. Better to risk you neck once on a med run than be stuck up north crawling around with a broken leg, hoping the next building will have a morphine.
  11. I know it may suck, but you may have to just uninstall and reinstall everything. It may take awhile, but it's the simplest way to deal with a bad install.

how to get geared up in an hour?

Yeah, as others have said, don't bother being stealthy when you first spawn. At most crouch run and crouch walk when closer to zeds. I've crouch ran through all of cherno and didn't aggro a single zed. For losing zeds, they can't run inside so go through a building with two or more doors, or at least one with a lot of space to move (church). If there are none of these around, bank around tight corners, weave in between fences and such, and run through any foliage you see. Basically if you break line of sight with them, they run to the last place they saw you then stop and look for you again. If you can quickly run around the outside of a small building for instance, you'll lose them. If you are concerned about players, which should really be your primary concern, even on low pops, try your best to find where they are. When looting Cherno/elektro, I like to skim along the treeline to the north and look for any sign of a sniper. If I have a hatchet or a low tier gun and I have the jump on them I'll go for it, but it's mainly for recon. From there I'll scan the town, looking not only for players but for zeds. Zeds don't spawn until a player comes within about 200m of a building, so if there's zeds, there's players. If you can see no zeds and haven't heard any gunfire and such during this recon time, it's safe to move in a loot. Keep close to walls and general cover, never stop moving, and avoid walking on a road. If you do aggro some zeds, do your best to lose them quickly, as a large group of angry zeds running in one direction is a dead giveaway for any sniper. And don't stick around for more than 10-15 minutes, as you should assume that even if you didn't find anyone, there's probably someone tracking you and waiting for the perfect shot. You don't have to use a loot map you if don't want too, but at least know what the high value buildings look like, so you're not wasting time looting log cabins and sheds. When I get a Cherno spawn, I go in from the North, hit up the apartments and the hospital just on the edge of town. If I get good stuff (backpack, hunting gear, gun, etc.) I leave then and there and hike it up to the Airfield and such. Otherwise, head back into the forest, move west, and go for the firehouse, pub, maybe church, and market on the way out. Takes me no more than 10 minutes after initial recon and and I'm on my merry way.
  13. As far as your gas issue, while there may not be a fuel tank in a town, you can still find jerry cans in barns and any industrial area. In fact you want to make sure you have one before going to a gas station, so you have something to put the gas in. I'd see if the previous owner also had some gas in the storage.

Re- Using the same "Loot Pile"

If there's absolutely nothing in there, not even trash, you need to give it a little time to spawn. Go wander around town and come back in a bit, should be there.

My game experience of my last 7 lives.

I do play, and mainly solo. I do have a personal base up north, but it's a policy of mine if I die to bring something back to the camp instead of just draining it of supplies. The people running around in big cities are the smart ones. It makes them hard for snipers to hit and they can't be hit by zeds, as well as allows them to lose any zeds they do aggro. You can be sneaky and fast, it is possible. It's also very possible to get geared without running through a coastal city. There are barns, deer stands, small towns, castles, and cities inland that are much less populated and have markets and offices and such. All have a decent chance of weapons and a high chance of at least food and drink, if not hunting gear, and they're not nearly as camped as coastal cities. Honestly the only thing I feel I need from the coast is some meds, everything else I can grab 1-2 km away from all the action. It seems to me you just need to learn from your deaths and adjust to the situation. Just because there are people shooting at you doesn't mean the survival aspect is out the window. Zeds are terribly easy to deal with, your survival element IS other players. If you're having trouble surviving, that's your own issue, a crappy gun you'd get off spawn isn't going to help you much, it may even hurt you. Hackers of course are an entirely different conversation, there are ways to deal with some of their tricks, but you will be killed by one eventually, that's just a fact, which is why you don't get attached to gear and having a the "protection" of a glorified target.

Death every time I get something nice

Just learn from your deaths and decide on risk vs. reward. When you get sniped, are you moving slowly? Were you moving in a straight line? Were you out in the open? Figure out how you're getting killed and then avoid doing that next time. Then risk vs. reward. The more/better gear you get, the higher the risk of looting usually becomes. Cities are high risk already, due to their rewards, but if you go in there with good gear already, is the little bit more you're going to get worth the risk? Your Elektro example for instance, you already had a military rifle and a alice pack, was it really worth it strolling into kill town for ANOTHER military rifle? A safer way to get a better/additional military gun would be deer stands. They are secluded, only a few zeds, and usually don't have people camping then. Much lower risk, only a little less reward. Basically, as soon as you get something worthwhile, get off the coast. edit: Guns can be easily found up north, barns, deer stands, markets etc. Really the only thing I feel I need to grab before going north is meds, but other than that I can find it all pretty easily away from the coastal cities. However, if you do agro zeds without a gun or hatchet, yes you do just run. Run through bushes and trees when leaving a town, or go through a two way building. You can also weave in and out of fences. I don't condone shooting zeds even when you do have a gun, as they just bring more zeds and other players. The only way you should be killing zeds is with a hatchet.
  17. Finally got up there. Got alice pack and hunting and navigating gear, PDW from the military tents, lee enfield, CZ 550, and meds. Got an AKM in the airstrip to the north. As good of a haul as Cherno or Elektro would produce, and much less risk. Did have some artifacting, but a good flush and some camera work made it fine.

Bombs - don't do this at home

Just be sure when you want to intentionally throw a grenade, you angle it and hold down the mouse button to throw it a good distance. ARMA II doesn't pussy foot around with their explosives, they have quite the blast radius. You won't hear it if you get caught in it as you usually take a ton of damage and go deaf and into shock immediately. For solving your accidentally problem, either always look on your top right screen to see what you're set at, or just carry grenades in your bag until you want to for sure use them.

How do you actually meetup to group?

Just pay attention to where you're at when you spawn in, indicated in the bottom right hand corner. From there use a map to determine a good meeting point. Using map markers helps if the server you are on allows it.

My game experience of my last 7 lives.

Sorry, but no. There's a reason why the took away the starting Makarov in the first place. People would camp the beach and kill fresh spawns for their beans and ammo. No gun also doesn't give newbies the run and gun mentality, where they shoot the first thing they see and get themselves killed. It forces them to learn how to deal with zeds without firing a shot. As far as snipers go, that's going to be there gun or not, and even with hunting supplies you'll still have to go into cities for meds and bigger bags. Learn to deal with them, adapt and survive. It's honestly not that hard to find a gun either, there is a high chance gun spawn within 10 minutes of basically every spawn point. If you can't find at least an axe within that time, either the world hates you or you're looking in all the wrong places. On average, you should be geared up for northern living with a half hour.

    Aren't zombies moving too fast?

I have had a couple close the distance on me, but I was serpentining too much, just ran straight for a sec and I was k.

New at dayz and I have a problem...

Try out other servers. Look for ones with less people in them, some servers can't handle a large number of people, even if they say they can. Also change your settings to optimize FPS, I think DayZGuideZ has a guide for that. Best case for gaming would be a desktop, but a nicer laptop can handle most games on lower settings.

    Quick new player question.

Well as far as spawning on the coast, if you quit out of the game while it's loading, it will spawn you on the coast with all your gear. If you do get stuck in loading, alt+tab out, connect to a new server, wait until you spawn in, THEN exit out of the old one. Only fix I know of. Just double check your versions but Commander should make that pretty easy. Just realize loading times will be fairly long regardless due to it being alpha and things not being optimized, and if it's laggy double check your video settings before assuming it's a bad server. If you do find a server you like, just add it to your favorites.
  24. So after my latest east coast spawn, I finally went though Berezino, NE Airstrip, Krasnostav, and finally visited Devil's Castle, my last castle to see. I didn't get much loot since I was pretty much set after the airstrip, but I got lunch and some CZ550 ammo. It's a very cool place and would be a nice setting for some PvP. Just a question though, you're only able to go in the one spire correct? I saw 3 but only could find an entrance to the one. Now it's off to NW Airfield to hopefully get some cool guns to bring back to camp. Any tips on the best way to approach it solo from that position?

    FINALLY got to Devil's Castle

So, got to the north barracks, picked up a M4A3 CCO and one mag. Was going to go check out the firehouse and control tower, and maybe see if I could find some downed choppers, I got the fire house and looked up to the tower, Gillie suit player on top. I turned and fled. Circled around, got to the south barracks, just found another STANAG mag and a silenced one, and an M9SD for my PDW. Didn't see any downed choppers. So, a few things. If I load the silenced ammo, will it be silenced, or at least quieter? And the server I was on recently reset, does it take a little bit for downed choppers to spawn after a reset?
