  1. Well the first couple encounters were actually unarmed. The first, I was looting a log cabin next to my spawn point in Cherno, another fresh spawn tries to enter just as I'm leaving. He sees me and bolts away, zeds trailing him, wouldn't have been able to help anyways. Second, met him in three valley's, a new player. I had found plenty of food/drink and what not, but hadn't been lucky with guns far. He was the opposite, didn't have anything but a crossbow with no bolts. He was being chased by zeds when I found him, I did my best to explain how to lose them and left him some lunch and bandages on the road, as well as a bolt I found, and we parted ways. Later he told me on side chat that the things I gave him saved his life as he nearly died of thirst without finding anything, and the bolt killed a zed that was about to knock him out. First armed encounter didn't end so nice. Had some basic gear and a Winchester. I see a female skin player being chased by zeds using the Lee Enfield. I ran over as quickly as I could and took out a few zeds, but soon after noticing me, she swings around and shoots me, knocking me out and leaving me for dead (probably thought they killed me). Somehow made it out alive with 2 zeds lingering and attacking me a bit, but I was very hurt, and got sniped soon after that. Really goes to show how weapons can complicate things.

    Finding a vehicle

It's hard to find them at the spawns, that for sure, but if you go to the common hiding spots, you'll find something soon enough. NE corner is popular for instance. Some hide them off the map, but not all. Also gotta keep your ears open for people driving/flying by, usually how people lose a chopper is getting shot down or ambushed upon landing/taking off. Fixing it up can be harder that sounds too. After a mission, we had 3 guys and the patient and looted Starry, found the UAZ at the spawn pointed. It needed 2 wheels, an engine and a fuel tank. We were alone on the server at night and spent the next 4 hours fanning out over the whole north of the map looking for parts. We got the wheels and fuel tank, but no luck with the engine. We even server hopped factories with no luck. Ended up driving it off with a crappy engine, but the server locked soon after. In the end, you just need to decide what you want to do with your "endgame". Some scavenge, some kill, some heal, there are possibilities out there. Or just wait for standalone when there will be more depth to the game. Edit: If you are dead set on finding a vehicle, I'd recommend finding a good private server that has increased vehicles. Less hacking there too, and some even roll back the server if there was major hacking. It would probably be fun to start out on the coast again anyways.

    Die newbies?

Well since you were so kind to reply to my directly, I'll go more in depth. 1. For fun: When it comes down to it, this is a game, and a sandbox game at that. People are allowed to do what they enjoy within the bounds of the game (hacking is bad) and there is a group of people that enjoy shooting moving targets, armed or not. This may not be your playstyle, but not everyone plays like you, which keeps it interesting. Also, in an apocalypse situation, there will be people who will just kill everything and watch the world burn rather than rebuild. 2. Unarmed =/= not a threat: You have to realized these heavy-geared players are very paranoid of losing their gear, and have to be wary of every threat. With current mechanics, it is fairly simple to conceal small arms or a hatchet on a seemingly fresh spawn. It's also not difficult for someone to see another player, find a weapon, and go kill them. I've even hear of unarmed players agroing zeds to another player and killing them with the hoard. These paranoid players know of these tactics and find your very existence a threat. They have no way of knowing your experience level, aside from your actions, as everyone washes up on the coast at some point. It goes the other way as well, they could very well be looking for serious PvP, meeting up with their squad, or over-watching one of their buddies. You were just unlucky enough to go somewhere or do something they didn't appreciate. You may call it coward's tactics, others would call it surviving. The lvl 100 vs. lvl 1 analogy doesn't really apply, as it is so easy for someone with a hatchet to sneak up on a geared player and steal everything. There's no real progression, which is realistic. 3. Teaching you a lesson: This is a minor one, as most with this intention wouldn't go as far as killing you, but you may get some friendly shots if you're doing something stupid. I know I've shot near a guy who was just chilling on top of Cherno factory mill, not moving, in plain sight. All he had was a revolver, he could've been a scout, but based off his reaction and what happened, I could tell he was a new player who just learned to not stop moving and stay in cover. 4. Beans: I use this as a general term for supplies than just a can of beans. Say for instance, a well-geared player has little to no morphine or even bandages. It's fairly risky for someone with really good gear to go loot a hospital. They see someone with little gear in some smaller town or w/e. If they know they can manage to kill you and loot you, could have what they need. Pure survival. I'll just clarify as well, I don't follow these practices, the exact opposite actually. I see another player, I carefully approach them and offer medical help and something to eat/drink. You just have to realize this is a sandbox game and people are encouraged to play how they want (excluding hacking). You may not play that way, but it's there and you have to adjust to it.

    Die newbies?

I've said this to a few people now, so it's going to be the short version Reasons: 1. For fun 2. Unarmed =/= not a threat 3. Teaching you a lesson in survival 4. Beans Always assume there is someone watching you regardless if where you are and what you have, your life expectancy will go up.

    Tent Stuck in Tree?

Nope, try going into first person and look at every angle, but it's probably stuck now. I think in the lastest patch they removed the fail safe that didn't allow you do place obstructed tents, so now they can get stuck. Just remember that when you place the next one, it will appear in front of you, with the short side facing you, i.e. don't be looking at the trunk if you're trying to hide it in the tree.

    Status Indicators Not Working

I don't know of anyway to get both, but really we shouldn't be getting too attached to it. The debug monitor or anything similar isn't intended to be in the final game, Rocket even wants to remove the meters somehow. I just pull it up when I've take a few hits and see how close I am to 9k, since zeds knocking you out and killing you isn't fun.

    Always dead?

Also, spawned right next to our bodies, and the killer left everything except my coyote backpack, replaced it with an Alice pack. Was even kind enough to not hide our bodies. Very strange, but w/e. Best of luck LBGamer, don't give up on this game yet. And look forward to standalone.

    Always dead?

Unfortunately a hacker teleported to us after I healed him and killed us both, but you can play now at least.

    noobz thoughts

First off, it's a sandbox game, by definition, it doesn't have any "end goal" other than what you choose. There's plenty you can do beyond banditry and forest survivorman, you just have to set your own goals and do it. For instance, I'm a medic, so I find hurt people or just people that need help and risk my life to save theirs. You can set up camps open to the public, but as in the spirit of the game, it's still open to infiltration. Rocket has said he doesn't want any place to be safe, it's against the feel of the game. There have been talks of building fortresses and or underground bases in standalone, but even those will be venerable to bandit players. Zeds spawning from buildings is just the current implementation. It makes some sense since that's where people would've been. The deerstands would've had a couple people posted there, and in-game it can only spawn 3. You may have gotten more to spawn after killing the first ones, but that's just keeping the area hostile instead of just simply killing 3 zeds and looting. As for scripters, the first pair obviously was. If this happens again, or you just find a hacked weapon somewhere, I recommend you bury it in a zombie or dead player. Some servers will kick you for carrying weapons that were scripted in. Then the sniper was probably legitimate. Bandit players tend to camp high value areas and will kill on sight. And they can find you. Making noise, being outside a tree, agroing a zombie, among other things, can alert them of your location. There's even a thermal scope rifle that can find you so long as there isn't a wall between you and them. You can even run into people in the middle of nowhere. I remember when I was newer, I was going to go loot a couple buildings in the middle of the map for some lunch, and as I'm scoping out the area, I see two players come in from the south, and a third come in from the west. They had their little firefight that I stayed out, but still, 4 people in the same 200 m radius. It was even on a server that only had 6 players, including me. You have to assume there is always someone nearby, they could've been tracking you for miles. There's a popular youtuber that has even started uploading a guide to player stalking. Anyways, good luck out there. Find your own path, and stay safe.

Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

Still need help? I'll add you on skype quick, otherwise just PM here. Edit: Just say you in the teamspeak, nevermind.

    Always dead?

East of Kamenka huh? Well that makes sense, it is a bit of a stretch between towns. LBGamer, I'll make my way down there. I'll be on this afternoon (CST) so to set something up, if you have teamspeak you can find me on ts.dayzmedics.com or just add me on steam (in the sig). If you go on the teamspeak and I'm not there, I'm sure there will be at least one medic on who can help you.

Had my first upsetting death last night.

Well someone had to empty those whiskey bottles. On topic, I've been killed by a zed for a stupid reason too. I was on a medic mission and was getting a good look at the meeting point, then a silent zed comes out of the bush next to me and knocks me out while others swarm me. I didn't even make any noise. Luckily I spawned close and did what I needed to do, but those zombie ninjas suck.

    Shotgun question

I'm pretty sure it's per pellet. Pellets would be useless otherwise. From my experience, I had a M1014 with the pellets in, a bandit tried to ninja-hachet me, and I just laid him out. I usually try to knock them out and heal them, but I did so much damage point-blank.
  14. medical tools to do things such as read blood pressure and temperature, removing the need for the debug monitor and meters. Also, a winter map would be cool, where there's differently coats you can put on, one would be winter camo ofc. Your temp would lower regardless and different coats would slow that down to different degrees, and people would need to make fires for warmth and not just cooking food.

    Always dead?

Damn, you got the generic 'middle of nowhere' spawn. Well, I think that might be the far west spawn down by Kamenka, but I'm not sure. You may need to just get DayZ commander if you haven't already and do the downgrade to respawn. Another thing I've heard about is when you're loading up and it says "setup complete, please wait..." you are able to open up your options and the respawn button isn't greyed out until you load up. I haven't tried it all the way through since I don't want to lose my gear, but I did just check and see if the button was active. You can try that and go from there. Sorry your first dayz experience has been sucky. The game does have bugs, and you unfortunately stumbled into one of the nastier ones. It is a blast once you get going though. If nothing on the technical side of things works for you, I'll do my best to find you, but after west of Kamenka, I'd just be guessing. I'll be happy to pick you up my with my motorcycle and take you where you like when you wake up, but for now I don't think I can help you. Edit: Also, try going into a different server if you haven't already. Could also see if your thirst/hunger meters are decreasing, if so you could just leave the game running for an hour or two and die of thirst. Sounds silly, but if it works, it works.

    i accidentally got stuck

Just pull up your bootstraps and swim. You're a lot better off than a hacker teleporting you 10 miles away from anything. Infact, your swim is shorter than the Skalisty Island swim. If you get sick, give me a shout and I can run anti-biotics to you.

    Good snipe or nefarious hack?

Well, if your outside the audible range of the gun, chances are you won't hear a bang, at most you'll hear the bullet flying through you, but usually when you take a .50 cal hit, you don't hear anything because your ears are dead. However, since there were a lot of people dying one by one, it could be a hacker porting around and shooting people, but you can't really know for sure.
  18. herrjon

    Always dead?

When you spawn in, it'll say on the bottom right corner of the screen: Chenarus (location) Day (how long current character has survived) Even just a town name would give my an idea, I can fish you out from there.
  19. herrjon

    Always dead?

If your leg is broken, you can hit respawn, or if you're bleeding just load up the game and alt+tab for a bit until you bleed out. Otherwise, best way to downgrade is using DayZ commander. Where are you at exactly? I could just run to you and wake you up.
  20. It doesn't, you probably just moved around more, and maybe were in more buildings for longer.
  21. As others have said, open map -> units -> you -> gear. As well as accessing the gear inside, this also allows you to do things such as eat and drink without having to exit the vehicle.

    Playstyles in DayZ

I do the medic thing, and so far pretty successfully. I haven't died while helping a patient yet, and I have over 20 under my belt. There's certain security measures to be taken, I almost called off the last one, but in the end everyone was happy and grateful, and begging to give me stuff rather than killing me for my gear. I think I'd get bored doing the wilderness survival scene, but I can understand why people may enjoy it. Just do what you think you'd in an apocalypse.
  23. herrjon

    Can somebody please explain...

Some people do it for the fun of it, which can be realistic, b/c when the world it ending, why not go out with a bang, right? Then the others are just paranoid of losing their stuff. Fresh spawn =/= new player, and there are plenty of tricks to conceal a weapon, or it's fairly easy to find someone, have a friendly conversation, then the unarmed gets armed and takes the geared up player out. Morale of the story, don't trust people. You can be friendly with them, but avoid being seen and don't give them a chance to shoot you, because they probably will.

How to place a backpack inside a tent

Yes, when you scroll over the tent and open the gear options and hit the arrow, the backpack will go inside the tent, as well as the items in it. However, the items in the bag will be deleted upon server reset, so dump or transfer the contents first.

    need help!

Depends on what you need I suppose Guns/ammo: Well, you're near NW Airfield, pretty self-explanatory Food/Drink: Hopefully you have hunting supplies, in which case just hunt, otherwise it's best to head to Vybor supermarket and office, I dare you to not come out of there stocked with food. Blood: Go hunting if you can, otherwise get a friend with a bloodbag or call one of the medic clans for help. Bandage/Morphine: Hopefully you aren't bleeding or have a broken leg, if so see above, otherwise try Vybor then head for either Cherno or Berenzino. I hope that helps.
