    Basic help for new player

Hatchet is a gun with a super short range, just gotta reload it. It's silly, but it is what it is. As for buildings, only certain buildings do actually spawn loot, but these buildings look more or less the same, so you'll just pick it up as you go. If you look at this map http://dayzdb.com/map all the circles and squares are lootable buildings, color coordinated to the type of loot they have in it, and when you click on them, you'll get a picture of it and a list of what it spawns, and at what rate. Another thing I found helpful is this video It's focused on weapons, but you can see what the buildings and the guns look like. The names are a bit off, but it's a helpful video none the less. The only buildings it doesn't cover are industrial spawns and the hospital, but you can find those on the dayzdb map.
  2. Basically what they said. You are set to a jogging pace by default. I order to walk you can either hold down shift, double tap shift to toggle walking, or look down the sights of your gun by right clicking. Therefore, if you're stuck walking, double tap shift to attempt to un-toggle walking. For the looking down your sights, the game doesn't deal with you right clicking with no gun very well. You may very well be "looking down your sight" without anything visibly changing on your screen, but you're stuck walking. Try single clicking your right click a few times. If that doesn't work, try relogging into the server. Worst case, you'll have to sprint everywhere (double tap 'w') until you find a gun to sort our your zooming. Hope that helps.

    Invisible Man?

So I have a bit of a problem I need fixed. Yesterday when I logged in to my normal server, instead of having my normal hero skin, I'm wearing something else. In first person, it looks like some sort of soldier clothing or pilot (not familiar with specific Arma skins) and in third person there is no model at all, I'm invisible. Along with that, the group commands appear now during normal gameplay (i.e. '5 (Ethan) "8, FALL BACK!"' etc.) I assume it was just a hacker messing with me because while I was looking around confused I was teleported from my camp to Zub. I bailed out after that and went to a number of different servers, had the hero skin, was visible, no problem (except still at Zub). Go back to my normal server again, still have the invisible skin. I will mention that I have never used scripts in dayz or the editor, nor do I really know how. I have never used hacked in items and weapons, and only have held them momentarily in order to bury them in a zombie or what have you. I do not use custom skins or additional mods with Arma. Before the incident, I had logged into this particular server with no problems, and in between those logs the beta patch the server was running had not changed nor had I changed mine. Is anyone familiar with this and know of any fixes? I would hope just putting on a camo or gillie and taking it off again would put me back at hero, but knowing dayz I'd like a little more info going into it. Thanks in advance.

    Invisible Man?

No go on the suicide, still respawned with invisible skin. I did noticed zeds could see me, dunno about other players. I even respawned as a female and I still came in as invisible man, server hopped, hero male. I'll try putting on camo/gillie on a server I know works, then hop over and see what happpens, but beyond that I don't have a clue what to do.

    Invisible Man?

Actually tried those things when it first happened, or later when I ran from Elektro to Cherno. I did manage to dump my stuff in a tent and try to put on the camo clothing, and I'm glad I did. The result was going to the middle of the ocean and staying there. I relogged and ended up back on the beach of Cherno, still invisible. I'll try killing myself and see if that gets rid of the skin.

    Invisible Man?

Found Camo clothing, going to go dump my gear in the tent and see what happens when I put it on.

    Hellow, I am new

I don't have much experience with getting whitlested myself, but usually the private hive will have a website where you can make an account and apply to whitlist, but even after that it can take around a day to process. If you don't want to deal with that, just look for the public hive servers, those aren't allowed to whitelist or password even if they want to. Just make sure you're running the right DayZ version and Arma II beta patch and you should be able to hop right in. If you like, I can message you the names of some good public hive servers that are typically low key and friendly. Just don't want to publicly post it so they stay that way.

Need a blood transfution - I'm in Electro!

I can help out. Unless it's a private hive, the server I heal you on doesn't matter so long as it's public. I would like to get in real time communcation with you, so if you have teamspeak, that's my preference. Looking forward to your message.
  9. Yeah, unfortunately it can happen to some people. It's just a bug but there is no real fix on your end than waiting for it to finally timeout, death, or the chance of someone being nice enough to epi you. I can certainly go and help you, as can rage up there, or you can go the teamspeak ts.dayzmedics.com and find an available medic to wake you up. Best of luck!

    Stat menu in-game

It was never intended to be in the final product; just there for testing purposes. Blood you can eyeball with the color, kills you keep track of on your own, zed kills can be seen by holding 'i'

I need other people to play with

Learn to love the lone wolf playstyle, embrace it! Even though I'm a member of a large group, I end up doing my own thing anyways, with an occasional guest here or there. Besides, who needs companions when you have your trusty can of beans? They'll never leave you! (until you have to eat them that is)

    How to get Debug back?

It was never intended on being in the game in first place, just for testing purposes, hence debug. It's just something you'll get used to. Blood you can eyeball it with color and what not, for kills, just keep a count in your head, and zombie kills are recorded on the scoreboard.

    A Cruel Mistress!

Hope your friend helped you out. Just super bad timing with the hacker, otherwise my mates or I could've helped. Best of luck out there. On topic, great story. I've only killed once myself, and I take it with a heavy heart. It's strange the feelings this game can give you.
  14. Neko and Elmu, join the teamspeak ts.dayzmedics.com and we'll take care of you
  15. Subzero, when you first load it, it'll give you a general location in the bottom right corner of your screen. It'll go "Chenarus", your location, then "Day" and a number. From there if you're using an online map or an in-game one, look for landmarks you can identify on the map and go from there, basic navigation stuff. If you're interested, the group I'm in has a mentoring program to tech new players how to play. Just PM me if you want more info.

    Server issue

Could've been closed. A number of servers are doing this with the standalone coming up, or close it to open a server on a different map. Easy way to tell this on commander is there will be a cloud with an 'X' over it next to the name and the ping will be over 1,000. Then make sure the DayZ patch and Arma beta patch is correct. Sometimes servers won't update the name, so you may have to play with it a bit until the text is white. Aside from that, see if they have a website you can go to for information and/or contact the admin/hoster. I feel your pain though. I've lost 2 large camps (at least large for one person) and some vehicles to closing servers, but as many say, this is DayZ, don't get too attached to your gear.

    Anyone to play with

Probably looking for this section http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/69-clan-group-recruitment/ but the mods will move you if they see fit. It would help to mention your area/timezone and your usual play times, as well as your intended play style.
  18. M9 is a decent find. Better than my first few runs of Balota Airfield, where all I found was trash and residential ammo. Be happy you are at least armed. Anyways, if you still need help, I'll be happy to aid you. It's a bit of a jog for me, but I was planning on going back down to the coast anyways. You can find me on the TMW teamspeak, ts.dayzmedics.com, otherwise just PM and we'll work something out.
  19. Still need help? Find me on the medic teamspeak ts.dayzmedics.com

    Identify the Location

It's better to just tell them to look at their location given when the log in. It's only the wilderness ones that need to be posting pictures of some kind of landmark.

Guide To Being A Good Medic

I suppose being a solo medic healing randoms on a high pop server, this is the best way to go about it. If you have a squad though, it's better to be armed and lock down a smaller town or landmark and operate there with high security, assuming you have side-chat on the server. Otherwise operate in a big city and have a couple overwatch, preferably 1 thermal, and an on-site bodyguard incase something happens and the overwatch doesn't have a good shot. I actually get in touch with my patients over the forums or teamspeak and run out to them wherever they are on the map. I run endgame gear for safety in traveling and on-site (I get a lot of NWAF calls) and the L85 helps spot snipers as well as the patient if they don't know exactly where they are. I have a coyote backpack just so that I can have lots of meds on me and heal a number of people up north without having to run back to Berezino constantly, but an Alice pack works fine too. I also refuse any handouts from patients and even offer extra food/drink and survival tools to any that need them, so that extra space helps. Now, I do say to have guns and bodyguards, but I will tell you that I, as well as TMW as a whole, still don't actively shoot anyone, even if I know they're just a dick sniper. I just feel safer with it incase there is a set-up and I need to protect my gear and more importantly vehicle if I drove to the site. I have yet to actually be betrayed by the patient, but if I do come under fire the most I do is shoot near them and get them to back off, or knock them out, heal them up, and leave them there to wake up. I have only 1 murder and 3 bandit kills since I've started playing, and that was before I decided to become a full time medic. I still feel bad about them too.

The Struggle, My 1st NightZ !

Good stuff, glad you stuck with it. You'll learn a lot of the buildings aren't enterable or not worth entering in a lot of cases, but that'll just come in time. Playing during they day would help too lol. Good to hear there are other good guys out there, makes it a little easier for people to trust me when I try to help. I would still be careful with other players though, you don't have to shoot on sight, but don't turn your back to them ever. Best of luck, and welcome to DayZ

How exactly is this game fun?

DayZ is a sandbox game, there is no goal aside from what you decide you want to do. That's the beauty of it. You can be a lone wolf survivor, you can be in a squad. You can be a bandit, you can be a hero. You can stay in the towns, or live in the woods. Whatever you want to do, feel free to give it a go. I enjoy the tense feeling it gives you. It's strange, because it's not really that fun, it's stressful and can become very intense, it really gets the blood pumping. You may not have experienced that, since once you figure out zombies they just don't do it, but go on a high pop server when you hear gunshots all around you and you have no clue what's going on or what to do, you'll know what I mean. In the end, it's not for everyone. If you don't prefer the game as is, maybe wait to see how standalone turns out.

    Knocked out bleeding

Yep, they can do all the normal stuff once you're fully logged in. If blood is low I highly recommend doing a transfusion before using the epi-pen, as they could pass out again as soon as they wake up.
  25. I'll be there as soon as I can, just meet me on teamspeak. Also, let's keep this thread medical requests only. If you have personal feelings to work out, do so over PM or rage thread.
