It's your combat meter. When it flashes it means your in combat and you can't abort, and if you quit out you die. Since the latest patch, I either haven't quite figured it out, or it's rather buggy. It now flashes when you shoot, get shot, get agroed, eat drink, apply meds, etc, yet in some cases you can still abort fine. You also can't log out within about 10m of another player.

Locating vehicles from Air or Ground
herrjon replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
On the map, that's a feature that some servers have enabled, but most I've seen have it disabled. It basically works as if your character visually can seen the vehicle, or player for that matter, it will show up on the map and can be tracked for a short time. Spotting things in game however, that just takes practice and knowledge of where to look and what to look for. It comes in time. -
I can confirm the losing the Hero skin when you go below 5000. I play on this private hive and I had just gotten a Hero skin. I had one patient whom I had to end up killing to get him to respawn, he was bugging out and non of the meds worked, so he was stuck on an island with a broken leg and no blood. After the 1 shot kill with an AK, I was down to 3700, and next time I logged in, no hero skin.

I can't come help at the moment, but if you go to the teamspeak ts.dayzmedics.com I'm sure there's someone there who can help you out.

I think you mean UAZ, unless you play on a custom server. I've found loot sometimes in the back right corner of the garage area. And it wasn't trash loot, it was a PDW and a coyote backpack.

Need Medical Assistance in the Mod? Find a medic here!

Just join the TS and wait in the help needed channel, I'm almost certain someone is there. If not I'll be available in less than a couple hours. -
It really just depends on the server and sheer luck. The knowledge of the exact spawns helps as well, dayzdb isn't fully accurate or up to date. For instance, in Zelenogorsk, I know for a fact that the white pickup spawns at 017 102, just east of the barns under the overhang, and at Starry, the GAZ spawns next to the military tents, not north of them. Just do your normal thing and keep your eyes open, you'll find one.

It's best not to mark the map in the first place imo as other can see it, but as for your question I believe it's tied to the server and not your map, and other players can delete your marks. Best advice, just write down or type the coordinates of what you'd like to mark.

Are you sure it's not your FPS? They're 2 separate problems. Check your specs and play with your settings.

Sucks to hear about the bag eating the L85, just gotta double check you have space next time. They're not really similar guns, but I'd take the Mk 48 any day. Yes, it's a bit loud, but if you get in a firefight in a town, it one shots zeds, so you can just clear the oncoming hordes you agro with ease, and the enemy will take it as suppression fire. Granted the M249 is better for suppression fire in a town for a squad, but if you need to kill things, Mk 48 is better.

If by gun, you're referring to a rifle, yes, at the moment you can't have both in your active inventory, at least as weapons. You can keep some space in your pack for your rifle or find a loot pile and drop your rifle in it while you hatchet some zombies. However though, you can have a sidearm and hatchet in your active inventory. Therefore a common strategy for people is to go hatchet for zombies and sidearm for players. Usually M1911 or Revolver or a very effective one is PDW, since it has full-auto mode, large mag size, and can use a number of different mags, including MP5 and MP5 SD mags, leaving more room for bandages in your secondary inventory. This can be effective when first starting out, but also is good when making runs on NWAF and such if you know you'll get a good set of loot. If you drop your usual rifle in a tent or vehicle, empty your alice pack or coyote pack and most of your main items, you could potentially leave with 3 rifles, each with 3 or 4 mags for each.

Happens to everyone. You'll get the hang of finding supplies and vehicles soon enough. One tip though, don't run directly at people, especially if you're armed, 99% of people take that as a threat, regardless of skin, gear, or what you're saying. If you insist on making contact, try to keep cover in between you but keep eyes on them. (abuse 3rd person) Do your best to talk to them beyond "FRIENDLY, FRIENDLY!" and if they respond go from there. If they don't respond they either can't hear you due to a number of reasons beyond your control or they're intent on finding and killing you, which in either case it's best to leave them alone or kill them, whatever your preference is.

I did all of my practice in the editor, and lots of it. I'm still not too confident flying over and landing in hot spots, but I can fly pretty low now and land even Mi-17's accurately and safely. Biggest accomplishment was landing a Mi-17 in the middle of a circle of pine trees near the edge of a treeline, and dodging rockets and machine gun fire from an Apache helicopter on a Namalsk server. I personally fly with wasd and double tab alt to free look with mouse, holding down alt for minor movements with the mouse. Just takes practice.

Hmmm, dunno then, but the humanity system as a whole is glitchy at best, but I wouldn't be complaining about no bandit skin lol.
-
Use F to cycle through your items, there should be flares after a couple, just make sure you switch back to your gun afterwards by pressing F again. I wouldn't advise using them though, unless you know for sure you're alone, but even then it's dangerous. Players can seen flares and flashlights at night literally a mile away. Stick to chemlights if you need to see things around you.

Did you have a bandit skin when you dropped below zero? Bandit skin or not though, your humanity increases passively up to that 2500 mark. That has been a mechanic since they re-introduced humanity, not just the latest patch.

Yes, tents and vehicles are tied to that server. The save option was just an old mechanic to save the gear and location of your stuff, but now that save automatically whenever you add/remove gear and enter/leave the vehicle.

UK/Euro Taviana 2.0Whitelisted SURVIVAL/PvE Server - Bambi & Noob friendly!
herrjon replied to boxman80's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
For any of those unsure if they want to join, I'll vouch for this server. We've been playing on it for a few days now and its been great. Plenty of vehicles, that respawn, runs nice, and the BSB guys are very friendly and helpful. If you want a whitelisted Taviana, pick this one. -

I don't know if it was a rollback situation, if you look at the date, September 2012, that's when you still had to save tents and if you didn't, the tent would go back to the gear it had in it. So you could put down a tent, dump your entire loadout into the tent, save, pull it back out and not save, and then on server reset you'll have a copy of everything you had in it. I don't even think you can roll back a main-hive server, at least not as a lone admin. You have to rollback the hive, not just the server. Question on your danger zone map though, what does the green mean? Is that supposed to be safe, or just less dangerous? Cause I wouldn't consider Grishino very safe. Also, the red area should cover more of Dobbry hill, since a lot of death happens on there. -

I'm heading down to Cherno. I'll be available for about an hour and 1/2 if you want to join the teamspeak. If you miss me though, I'm sure someone else we be on to help you. Just join the ts and we'll get you sorted out. -
I prefer M4's for no reason in-particular. Never use full/burst and never really payed attention to the barrel length. I suppose it's just because the CCO is a lot more common and has 3 variants of it. I mean sure, if I'm going single rifle loadout and find an M16A4 ACOG, then yeah I'll take that, but those are much harder to find than a standard M4A1 CCO, or A3. Probably wouldn't drop a M4A1 CCO SD for an ACOG, but that should be pretty obvious. But straight up iron-sights, there's really no difference as far as the game is concerned. ltDan2014, I feel your pain, I do, but that's just how it has to be for the DayZMod. Rocket certainly wants to be able to transfer attachments among many other things with weapons, but it's not possible. It's they way weapons are handled in the engine. For Arma II, weapons are handled as references to one weapon object, to reduce overhead I assume, so there for there's no way to add an ACOG sight to your M4 without adding an ACOG sight to everyone's M4. From what I've heard, standalone will handle each weapon as a unique object, so you can add/remove attachments, and even need to clean and maintain it. Just have to wait.

It seems anytime I get mass teleported is on private (non-whitlisted) servers, so I usually just take a seat and see what happens. I would assume though the hacker(s) start off the shooting and people freak out and fire at anyone with a gun. Just logout and come back 15 minutes later, you can have all the gear you want. As for the whitelisting thing, there are no public ones, it's against the rules of the public hive to have any sort of whitelisting or password protection. You won't have to give up those 2 tents though, you go play on the private hive, go back to the public when you feel like it, and those tents will still be there, hopefully with the gear. And I'd get over the forum thing. They don't require you to actively use it, it's just an easy way to get the information required to get you whitelisted.

UK/Euro Taviana 2.0Whitelisted SURVIVAL/PvE Server - Bambi & Noob friendly!
herrjon replied to boxman80's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hi there box, I had a few questions that I couldn't find on your website. I was looking for a good Taviana server for me and some TMW guys to play on, but we have a few concerns. What is your ping limit before you kick? We don't normally go much higher than 200, but one server was kicking us at 150. Do you require TS to play on the server? I know of a few whitelisted/passworded servers that require being in the servers TS while in-game, which I understand, but doesn't work for what we do. How prominent are hackers and how are they dealt with? Just wondering how often you get hacked and how quickly their banned and if there's rollbacks. I'll try to pop in your TS to chat when I can, just not able to right now. -
As soon as you hit abort, you're gone, however I'd still log out in a concealed area, you are in-game for about 30 seconds when you can't see or control your character, when it says "Setup Complete, Please Wait..."
