    The Noob Map (For NOOBS!)

Yeah, I don't think bandits make camps in Berezino. They're usually along the sides of the map or black/willow lake. Berezino is there for people who have vehicles or time to travel to get in, get meds food and parts, and get out. They're rarely looking for a fight and just want to mind their own business.

    First few games

To use a bandage, you open your with 'g' and right click your bandage, and there will be a "bandage self" option. Just click on that and let the animation play. Same sort of thing for food and whatnot. To pick one up, put the loot pile it's in over your crosshairs, press 'g', then on the left side you'll see a list off all the gear on you and on the ground. The numbers to the left represents what's on the ground, and the numbers to the right is what is on your person. Press the arrows on the sides to move things on the ground onto your person, or right to left to drop things you don't want. Check out this vid for a visual demo. It's a bit old, but nothing major has changed with the gear aspect since then.

Sorry to say, battleye is crap. It ends up kicking legitimate players for doing legitimate things more than they ban actual scripters. Part of this is due to the structure of the Arma engine (open source, easily modable, a lot of client-side functions), but battleye could do better in keeping up with the bypasses and such to hinder them a bit, instead of some 12 year old using his allowance and buying a script pack off the Internet and using it with no consequence other than admin bans. Rocket has said though in Standalone, it will be almost completely server-side and very difficult to hack, and will be VAC secured via steam, so it should be locked down a lot better. That's apparently all we're waiting on at this point for SA. I would say WarZ's is worse though, at least with the way the game is set up, scripters can't do as much damage in DayZ. Sure they can kill the whole server, teleport/destroy cars, etc. but you can respawn and/or change servers right away, you don't lose access to your character for 24 hours unless you pay. And I assume the WarZ server are all run by the Dev's and publicly joinable and linked? One way to avoid scripters if you find them to be a problem is find a good private hive that you'll stick with. Scripters target public servers a bit more as they are all connected, which equals more rage from their victims. Plus some private servers will roll back the hive about an hour if there was a major attack. An additional level if security from there is whitelisting servers. Hardly any scripters make it to whitelist server as they have to apply for it and wait for a response, only to get turned down. One specific whitelist server set I can recommend is Balota Buddies. Their whitelist process can be a bit lengthy, but it's worth it as they have the place locked down from scripters.

They way you can tell if it's public or private is by using the DayzCommander program to browse the servers. The private ones are the one's with a cloud with an "x" over it next to the name, the rest are public hive. If you want to play public only an server hop, just check "hide unofficial" in the filters. It's real time and date, so it follows lunar cycle and such. I like it when we're coming up on a full moon, nice an bright out.
  5. There's plenty of people out there playing, you just may have to find the right server that has the map and playtime that you want with the amount of players you're looking for. Usually 0-10 players you'll mostly be dealing with zeds maybe bumping into someone in a hotspot, 10-20, you will find someone in a hotspot, 30-40, it's hard to go somewhere important without finding someone, 40+, PvP deathmatch. Take your pick. I wouldn't know about the streaming thing, I've only dabbled, but I know Arma II is a very taxing game on your computer and most struggle to reach the 30-60 fps without recording or streaming, so make sure you have a good computer, especially a good CPU.

    Tools of survival

You don't have to go to Cherno or Elektro for supermarkets. There's Zelenogorsk, Pustoska, Vybor, Polana and Berezino (2 supermarkets). If you spawn east of Cherno, head for Zeleno and go North from there. If you spawn East of Elektro, head for Polana and Berezino afterwards. Each path gives you 3 supermarkets to try your luck for loot.

    movement

Yes, as far as I know it's just walking hip fire, which is just using shift to walk. If this isn't what you're talking about OP, maybe you could find one of those videos where it's done?

    Tools of survival

For matches, your best bet is in supermarkets, since it has a 4.39% spawn rate compared to 1.65% in other residential. For hunting knife, look in industrial spawns, which you should be going to for your hatchet anyways. If you're not opposed to using a loot map, I recommend http://dayzdb.com/map

Loot 'injected' by server. Is this common?

By inject do you mean on spawn, or your gear changed while you were out doing your thing? Last I remember public servers weren't allowed to change the spawn gear, and if the admin is just giving gear away, they're abusing their power since it's on public. Unfortunately public hive isn't policed for admin abuse anymore. I do know that sometimes a server will show up as public hive but actually be a private server for whatever reason, so this could be the case. That or hackers could be messing with things. Regardless, I wouldn't recommend playing on that server anymore.

    Nooby McNoob

Just look for a private server (not a public server connected to the main hive) and preferably whitelisted. The whitelisting isn't a huge deal as most skiddies stick to public hive, but it helps. Balota Buddies is one specific whitelisted one that I can recommend.
  11. That or vault down on rubble or have two people with extra morphine and blood. Usually though, they'll just log out on the roof and fly it away afterwards, usually having parts in the gear incase someone does try to shoot it. I think the best spot would be the roof of the green montain military building. Can't get up, can't access it, is covered by trees, and people don't normally go there.

    Types of Players

Took the stuff out of your pack? As far as I know you can't take the main inventory gear off an uncocious body, at least on vanilla servers. And my point was, those people do exist yes, I've been robbed and kidnapped before myself, but they are few and far between, probably even less of them than there are Heroes.

    Types of Players

You're welcome to use whatever terms you like, but bambie is usually people new to the game and don't really know what they're doing or where they are. I typically refer to the folks hanging out in the woods as hermits or survivormen, but that's just a pesonal term, most call them lone wolves. I'm not so sure about your Outlaw and Highwaymen not killing. When given the choice of what to do with an unsuspecting player, they will either help, hide, or kill. Rarely will a moderately geared player rob or capture people, at least in my experience. The only ones that do that sort of thing are those with a bunch of gear and camps all over, so they don't care if things go south for them, what you would classify as bandit, or KoS player. Still a good list, just don't want new players expecting only to be killed by end-game geared players. Also, no Hero type? Or scavenger? Hero will seek out hurt players or players in danger and help, reconized by the Hero skin, varying gear. Scavenger, seen in towns or major cities, carrying some sort of silenced weapon and a large pack. They stay to themselves and actively avoid player interaction.

    Problems/Lags while playing DayZ

I know it sounds weird, but on Arma II, lower graphic settings are harder on your computer than average settings. I don't know any off the top of my head, but there are plenty of graphic setting optimization guides all over. Just search on the forums and youtube and such. But at the end of they day, the root of the problem lies in your CPU.

    Server question

It just depends on what locations work for the both of you. If that's US, great. If you need to go European that would be fine too. I'm from the US and get 150-175 ping consistently on EU servers. I'm not sure of the connections for Korea, but just take a look and compare what your pings are.

    How to Store Gear

I'd get a hold of a tent or a different vehicle. Even though the Humvee looks and drives BA, it's storage space is silly.

    Got day Z today...HELP!!!!

Calm down and give us more info we can use. Where did buy the game? Where have you downloaded thing? What have you downloaded? What server browser are you using? Which servers did work?

    Private Servers

I'm not much of a private hive playing in the first place, and I didn't not which server did that, but thankfully they are few and far between. Just check out the private hive discussion section of the forum and browse around.
  19. herrjon

    Private Servers

If it's the same server, generally yes. There are some private servers that for whatever reason don't save location or at all, but you'll find that out quickly, plus I don't recommend playing on those servers anyways.

    Is this game playable Solo?

You'll want to stick the public hive. To play on the official public hive, just check the "hide unofficial" in your browser. All these server will have basic starter gear (bandage, painkillers, patrol pack), normal amount of cars, and all that jazz. Also with this public hive, your can change between these servers and your same character will load in, with the same gear and position as before. It's only private servers that have their own hives and feel the need to start fresh spawns with the most random gear. As for a camp, and I assume you mean storing gear somewhere that's not on your character, you'll need a tent or a vehicle. Vehicles are obviously more useful, but tents are harder to find and can't be driven away by looters...yet. Tents can be found in any residential building, but have a higher chance of spawning in supermarkets. Vehicles spawn all over the map, but must be repaired and fueled. Once placed, a tent is tied to the server, meaning if you log in to a different server, it won't be there, but on the server you placed it on. This also means the tent (and vehicles) and your gear exist in the server 24/7, and other players can find it and help themselves to your gear. So be sure to hide it well.

noob here just started today.... dayzcommander....

Once you have Arma II and Arma II OA downloaded you need to run them to the main menu screen. From there, go to DayZ Commander, and go to the install/update tab. There are a lot of options, but for vanilla dayz, all you need to install/update is Arma II and DayZ. The text will be white when you're up to date. Finally, open the settings tab in DayZ Commander. Check both steam options and you should be set. Just go to the servers tab, set "dayz only", check all 4 options under that box, and set the other filters how you like, and you can browse all the servers that will work for you.

    Any tricks of the trade?

It all depends on the situation and what you want to do/what you are ok with doing. It all can boil down to fight or flight though. It's fairly easy to just remain hidden and bail out if you spot them first, or get the jump on them if you wish. It's when you two meet at the same time or they spot you and fire on you do things get a bit tricky. If you meet and neither of you don't immediately start unloading on each other, get into the nearest cover and either leave the area or attempt to talk with them. I wouldn't advise pursuing them after the first sight, as it is simple for them to see you coming and set up a trap. If you are going to be the killer, your best chance is on first sight or after you've gained their trust. If you are fired upon by someone, it can be bit hard to get out alive, especially if they're a decent shot. The very first thing you need to do is figure out where they are approximately. This is very complicated and has a lot of facets to it, but the basics of it is listening for which direction the shot came from, how far away it was, what gun it is, and what a plausible location location would be based on that information (i.e. in Elektro, hear an M107 ~300m to the North, probably on sniper hill). If you have done this successfully and are still alive, find cover as soon as possible. If you are in a field or have no real cover, run away from their location in random zigzags. From there it's up to you. You can attempt to leave the area, possible having to repeat the process depending on the situation (3 yellow sniper in Cherno for instance) or find them and take them out, assuming you have the skill and the gear to do so. I wouldn't count on reasoning with them at this point, as they have shot you on sight. Hope that helps.

    DayZ Map Tutorial

It is pretty handy to know how to do some of this stuff, but it does rely a bit too heavily on waypoints imo. When my group teaches navigation and whatnot to new players, we still mention these, but we still go through how to do it without waypoints, and avoid the "clouds always move west to east" tip. Everything showcased in the video can be done without waypoints, sure maybe not as fast and efficient, but once you know what you're doing and you're familiar with the map, it's a fairly quick process. Also, calling a server that has waypoints disabled isn't a "bad server". There is a demand for it out there. Some people don't like them for immersion purposes, others just like the challenge of hardcore type servers, as well as feeling a bit safer from snipers because it's harder to range without the waypoints. Some like everything enabled, some like everything disabled, most prefer a happy medium in between. That's why we have all the different servers that we do.

    Hacking - the untouchable fire

Yeah, it's just a graphical glitch, won't harm you. The only thing from the crash that can hurt you are the explosions, but those go away a minute or two after the crash. Not sure why this problem hasn't been fixed yet, but it doesn't have anything directly related to hacking.
