If you didn't expect intended or unintended character wipes, you didn't know what an alpha was. As for a fix, just stick to the same few servers, preferably by the same host.

Can't tell which game you're talking about. Mod- Find a map and make sure it's on your toolbelt. Press 'M' Standalone- Find a part of a map, and put it in your hands. If you have 2 adjacent corners or 2 adjacent halves, you can combine them together by dragging one over the other. I recommend a dedicated hotbar spot for it.

We've been having some validation issues as of late, our forum developer is looking into it. I manually validated you, you should be fine to post. -
They spawn everywhere, but your chances are better in hospitals and such. I found one under a chair in a random house in Msta.

Just want to see community preference on 1st/ 3rd person servers quickly.

That's a nice thought, but until they make the vicinity range a bit more generous, we need the reticule for looting. But I'm all for the fps only. Looking forward to the separate hive. -

Do you think DayZ will become compatible with Mac at some point?

There have been hints of ports here and there, but nothing confirmed yet. Even if it were confirmed, chances are it would be after full release on PC. -

How's your color? Have you changed any visual settings? Does it say "healthy" in your inventory screen? Your guy may just need a bit of rest. Find a quiet town and just hang out for a bit, or just toggle on walk and loot. The only other thing I would suggest is an epi-pen for shock, but I don't know the symptoms of shock at this time. -

We don't have anything quite as official, but we do have a [Trusted] rank on our teamspeak for those who we feel we can trust to handle patients or play with us but don't want to be full members. -
Sever labeled "No KOS" work just as well as ones labeled "Noob friendly", which is terribly. They can't enforce it at all on SA, so it's basically telling the A-holes of the community "hey, there will be easy prey for you to kill here". Stay away from those servers and do your best to be as defensively friendly as possible. Don't stand in front of them unless they don't have any weapon in their hands, don't turn your back to them, and always have an escape plan if they are hostile. You don't have to KOS to survive or interact with randoms. I've only killed (as in fired fired) one person in my over a year of the mod and haven't killed anyone (by any method) in SA yet, and I survive just fine. Yeah the playerbase is filled with A-holes, but the world is filled with A-holes. DayZ just gives them guns and incentive to kill you. Give them incentive not to.

For those wanting to donate medical supplies and such, we of course don't charge any payment for healing people, but if you have spares you won't use and want to give them to someone who will, feel free. We will do our best to fairly trade for them. There is also a possibility we'll be doing something of a blood drive once storage systems are added, so watch for that. As for "why this is pinned", TMW has become the most trusted medic clan DayZ has ever known, and it provide people in need a way to get help without having to worry about someone killing them or stealing their stuff. People know we'll help them, give them an experience, and not charge a damn thing. Our founder Dr. Wasteland MD was the first one to be noticed going out and healing strangers, and started the biggest medic group DayZ has ever known. There was a similar thread posted in DayZ Mod's survivor HQ (found here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/99986-need-medical-assistance-in-the-mod-find-a-medic-here/) which has has many successful requests, and that's only the 2nd one. The first became so popular and large that it had to be deleted due to it lagging the entire DayZ forums. Of course other medics are welcome to responds to requests on here, it is a public forum after all. This thread also servers the purpose of attempting to rid as many of the "need help at xxx" threads as possible. We just can't speak to the trustworthiness of said freelance medics. -

Yep, we're aware that there are those who want to hurt us, or those who want to hurt us and our patients, which is why we do have bodyguards. We also have security measures to follow that we ask our patients to abide by. If you are interested in joining, I recommending checking this out http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/153083-the-trusted-medics-of-the-wasteland-are-recruiting/#entry1533492 You can also PM me with any questions or come to our teamspeak and find a recruiter or staff member. -
A public hive is a good thing. If I meet someone on the forums or teamspeak or w/e and we want to play, I don't think either of us wants to spawn fresh with the other is geared, and leave behind our main character. Beyond that, if it was all private hive servers, what happens when the server is full? How about if it goes down? Connection gets bad? Server database gets wiped for one reason or another? Do you really want to start a new character every time one of those or other things happens? Shutting down the hive isn't the only answer, some basic things like limiting the number of hops in x amount of time or a log out timer, can deter or stop this sort of server hopping. I'm sure the devs are aware of the issue and have a fix in mind. However, this is alpha phase, and they probably have more important things to work on atm.

I was at Green Mountain with some friends, in the span of 2 minutes, 3 separate fully geared people logged in, all on the radio tower, and all tried to kill us except for the 2nd which logged immediately. I really don't see the fun in that playstyle, just server hop and loot or shoot, no point, no experience. But w/e, I'm sure there will be some fix.

Yeah, I can head over there, assuming my character is still there. Go ahead and hop onto our teamspeak server, ts.tmwdayz.com -
I haven't actually done it myself, so this is just what I've heard, but you need a special hand grip on the gun. The word "tatical" got thrown around, but it for sure doesn't work with the stock plastic one.

Server cleanup is too aggressive atm, but as Smash said, it has been fixed. Has kind of changed player interaction, since there's no point in kill apart from for the fun of it. But it is silly to have bodies disappearing so fast, so I welcome having corpses again. And I'm also assuming with the way you talk about it this is SA instead of the mod, which is the forum you posted this in. If it is the mod, dunno, I suppose people are logging out too quick.
-
You think if you were running around a barn and stumbled off a 4 foot drop that you wouldn't break or sprain anything? It's not a bug that needs to be fixed, it's a feature, and one of the more realistic ones if I do say so myself.
-
When it stops giving you messages, keep eating and drinking. Only stop when it starts saying you're going to vomit and whatnot.
-
There is blood regen, you just need to eat and drink a lot.
-
I always laugh when people say "X game isn't realistic because Y doesn't exist" where Y is zombies, or super powers, or laser guns, or what have you. There are certain things within a fictional world to be held true inside of that world, with specific rules that can be assumed. Everything else stays realistic (assuming that's what the game is going for). From yours and other people's logic, since we have zombies, why not add unicorns, and talking candy? A line is drawn, and that line is zombies only. As for the rest, clipping issues is a game bug that is being working on. The food system is constantly being changed and tweaked as well. But consider this, if you were consistently running 1km every 5 minutes, how often would you eat or drink? Sure just sitting around in front of a computer you don't need much, but runners have large jugs of water for a reason. And with the food, how long do you expect a to last of eating 25% of a can of sardines? It's not like the mod where we're downing whole cans of food in one sitting. Is is perfect and real? No. Is it as far off as you make it? No. Give them time to tweak it, but it's not as unrealistic as you make it out to be. I wouldn't bother asking for a refund either. You were warned at every turn not to buy the SA, and yet you still went for it. It's your fault if you didn't do your research.

Ok i get it.. its alpha.. but this is worse than the mod.
herrjon replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
This is really all that's worth responding to at this point, since you clearly don't know how software works or how development companies work. The only thing I will mention on that topic is the sales of Arma II went into producing Arma III, not DayZ. That's what BI decided to do with their money, and that's their right a company to do so. I understand the $30 is a bit steep, and for some is not worth what was available out the gate, but you aren't buying just the alpha and that's it. You will have access to the game as it progresses and will be worth more in the long run. Not only that, but it is a promise and investment to help the game be developed. If you want to see DayZ the idea become a game, and help with its production, you invest some money into it. Rocket said time and time again that the alpha at release will be a veritable pile of crap and warned people not to buy it. He asked those on the fence to watch videos and livestreams before purchasing, and to honestly consider if you want to invest that money. If someone bought into the alpha with any expectation at all and without doing their research on its true state, that's their own fault. They have no one to blame but themselves and I sincerely hope they use this as a learning experience when considering instantly buying into early access again. I think I've spend enough time in this thread. I'll leave it to burn into the ground while the game keeps on going. Stay classy folks. Edit: Oh yeah, and I'll just leave this here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/155089-is-it-worth-buying-dayz-standalone-yet-rocket-response/#entry1554128 -

I'll just stop you right there -They had a start of an engine. They took engines of different BI products, stripped them down, and combined them to better suit their needs. At the end of the day, they essentially built a new engine. The fact that they did that in ONLY a year is a miracle. -Again, they had a start of a map. Sure it's the same idea, and had a lot of the original, but it is not the same map. There is plenty more added and changed, and making nearly all the buildings enterable is no small feat. I'd love to see you try to make a 225 sq km map with plenty of interesting towns and enterable buildings, and make it look graphically good, in one year. -Sure they have experience with the mod, but as stated in point one, they have a new engine. Their time went into that first and foremost, and while things will seem similar, it won't just be copy and pasting stuff in for the final product. The only reason it seems like the mod now is because they've reused old assets to have the game in a playable and testable state. -Arma sales goes directly to BI, not the DayZ team. Sure they may have been what caused all the sales, sure they need the money, but it's entirely up to BI what they do with that money. Dean doesn't have a say in it. I suggest you learn a bit more about game development before you start criticizing its progress. -

We're sorting out what we want to do and how we're going to do it at the moment. We'll post a new thread in the DayZ general discussion section when we're ready to go.
