  1. First of all, stop listening to the "community" most of them are jaded antisocial kids hiding behind excuses like realism and often the word "hardcore". Second, until loot gets hashed out, there really isn't a point playing. There is no food, some people say kill zombies, that's still a crapshoot, I shot 25+ zombies last night and only one of them had food on him. Spawn rate on animals seems to be down too, barely even saw any rabbits. So yah, come back once the loot is fixed. Third, where you search for weapons makes a big difference. Civilian weapons are best found in loft barns, long barns, and pig houses. They have the most spawn points. Oh and use the cans you find, throw them to lure zombies where you want them.
  2. Killed 15 zombies, 1 had a can of food. Don't care what is said, that's just a ridiculous waste of ammo. However I did have a thought. I've seen a grand total of ME using cans, actually picking them up, using them. And correct me if I'm wrong, cause I might be, but being that the loot system goes like this: Waits for you to get in range of a lootable area, checks to see what loot is already there, if the loot spot is empty and the rest of the loot is old, it puts a random amount of new loot in the empty spot. Only very very old loot that no one is around is ever cleaned up. If that's the case, the reason everything is choked with tin cans is because no one is picking them up and they only get removed on cleanup. for extrapolation: say we start with the small enterable houses. 3 spawn points, someone comes through, a winchester with some rounds, nothing and a pile of tin cans spawns. They take the winchester. Now there's 2 free spawns and a pile of tin cans. Few minutes later another person comes in, the cans are still there, and now another pile of cans spawns in and a makarov. Person takes the makarov and leaves the 2 can piles. Now there's one spawn left, and guess what's most likely to be spawned in. Now you have a house filled with tin cans that will not be cleaned up unless no one comes remotely close to the house for a LONG time. If that really is the case something needs to be done. Tin cans need to be cleaned up long before other types of loot, or something.

    Legit or Hack ?

If you use hacked weapons you pick up, you don't get a global battle eye ban, you get a dayz database ban. IE you can still play arma 2 online, you just can't play dayz.
  4. Call people whatever you want, but the more you say "rocket fanboy" like it's an actual term, the less people care. They're not rocket fanboys, they're just pretentious 'hardcore' kids, and they usually come from EVE. Despite that, your point is moot. The amounts of complaints here are NOTHING compared to how many were here when bandit skins disappeared, this is a drop in the bucket. And even though you seem to have a problem with Rocket, he is the guy who makes the rules. I've seen him ban people from DayZ just for pissing him off on the forums, and being that this whole thing is his deal, he does have the right to do whatever the hell he wants. Speaking of which, I think he's sending a message. Why is it that cans and bottles are everywhere now? he wants us to use the damn things. And use them I have been, quite well. make sure it hits something and it really does draw them to it. They're wonderful for clearing out those pesky inside spawns. So maybe try that, use the cans as a lure and see if you don't have better luck.
  5. Had to stop hitting replay, can't breathe. I'm going to be saying "OH FUCK MARK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK RUN FUCK" anytime something bad happens for a few days.

Playing with friends - How does it work?

Step 1 ignore most of the people on this forum, you're new, so they already hate you, and will continue to unless you can somehow prove you are as 'hardcore' as they think they are. Step 2 get on vent/teamspeak with your friends, this is required because talking to your friends in a way that only they can hear you is (somehow) realistic, but "using telekinesis to talk to everyone on the server" is not. Step 3 Go look up the multitude of maps on the net that have much more useful information on them than the map in game and either Alt-tab to see it, or set it up on a second monitor, then use that to find the best places to get the inferior in game map, cause you don't start with one. Step 4 When you start playing both of you watch the bottom right of your screen, middle line is your position, if you really don't want to waste time one of you needs to keep dying until you spawn near each other. OH and don't stand around too long, there's nothing keeping bandits from watching the mystical rebirth portals that are scattered along the coast... cause that's how it would work in a real zombie apocalypse.
  7. You want harmony on the forums, you're going to either have to make the phrases "go back to COD" and "This isn't the game for you" blocked or mandatory. Either decision is going to cut a section of your audience out. We have an ever growing crop of typical nice & easy gamers clashing with the pretentious jaded 'hardcore' gamers that have been here for months. Both have just as much right to be here as the other, both are right and wrong, but the truth is, neither matters that much, Rocket does what Rocket wants. So yah, maybe when you wish for harmony remember this: The most peaceful place on the planet is a graveyard.
  8. Half the time when I join a server that's supposed to be night, it's day for me, even when it looks like night to my friends. No need to stay in a darkened server. I just jump to a day server, and if you watch the server stats, so is everyone else. Staying in pitch black servers because of your pretensions of being "hardcore" is just sad. Nerf gamma all you want, it will never matter. As long as there is a day/night cycle, we don't have to stay in night servers, and we won't until it's navigable by default.

To the 3 guys in the church I killed...

Pfft, this is far from impressive. Using a zombie horde as a distraction is hardly tactical, there are troll vids on youtube doing this. Hell, I've used this to root out a group of bandits hiding in the woods behind the SW air field. Real bandit would have gotten their trust, followed them to see if they had a vehicle/ tent camp, taken one of their own weapons out of their pack while they weren't looking and then used it on them. Then they would have moved their newly acquired stuff to a new secure location.

    Aww, such a shame!

How rare is cooperation? I gave a ghillie suit away to the single stranger who EVER helped me in game. I've been playing over a month and I loved that damn suit. Guy helped me save a noob from a horde of zombies pooled up outside Elektro hospital. But it was worth it to finally see there was at least one other person on this game who would help a total stranger. Some guy named Bonesaw. So, yah, about that rare.

    OMG more LLJK goon hacking!!!!!!

Is this really supposed to be news? This is predictable as clockwork. SA forums have been a wretched hive of scum and villainy since they were excreted upon the sidewalk so many years ago. They were pioneering ways to be jaded antisocial douches way before it was the trendy thing to do on the net.

    ALT-F4 or just plain DC'ing....cheating?

You seemed like you didn't know what Might makes Right meant, and posed it as a question, so I felt obliged to answer. If you need it put in another way, here: Bandit skins were intended to be in the game... until they weren't. Matches were intended to let you make a fire without wood... until they weren't. Winchester was intended to be quieter... until it wasn't. What's "intended" changes as fast as Rocket changes his mind. And what Rocket intends the game to be, and what people think he intends it to be is rarely the same. Personally I figure someone in his position knows what they're doing when it comes to dealing with people DCing, as he's already got systems in place to stop it during combat. Honestly, I just came here to point out hypocrisy in a group that pretends to be 'hardcore' yet cries just as hard when they can't get their kills.

my first day "DayZ" forum/pvp observations

Oookay' date=' I guess? I dunno what that has to do with me or even this topic. I only put him in my quote cause what he said was and still is true. Again, you say it's akin to hacking. Why? Cause you say it is? Cause you don't like it? This is rhetoric. When people complain that they get shot in Cherno, they're doing it because they don't like that they got killed, but people on the forums tell them to deal with it. And now, there's a way people are taking control of the situation and bandits don't like it, yet no one's telling them to deal with it. Rocket's already got a system set up to deal with it, when someone's damaged by any player, even themselves, they can't DC to avoid death, their body sticks around even if they disconnect. This should be enough, yet there are still people complaining about it. And that is my point, the complaining comes from both sides, and no matter what vernier they coat on it, it's always for nothing more than their own personal gain. Oh, and it is a partisan issue, being that most survivors don't care if the person they shot at disappears and hops servers. The majority of survivors are looking to do just that, survive, not rack up a high kill count.

my first day "DayZ" forum/pvp observations

Lets see' date=' let me quote the retoric I've heard a hundred times when people defend PVP: "Might makes right. If I can do it, I should be able to do it without being punished." Funny how this is only applied to things bandits like and not to things they don't. Do I hate PVP, no. But I'm not to too fond of hypocrisy. Right back atcha buddy. Every single topic that you've tried to call me out on, I've made real points you can't refute, so you degenerate into pedantic namecalling, so... different strokes I guess. *shrug*

    The definitive VEHICLE SPAWNS thread

Southeast of Gvozdno, near Novy Lug there's a shed next to a house you can see from the field. Inside that shed a dirtbike spawns. An old bycycle spawns on the main road south of Novy Sobor, it's inside a small building sitting right next to the road on the right side going south. It's just up hill of an enterable building, a few locked ones and a barn.

my first day "DayZ" forum/pvp observations

Honestly, Rocket inadvertently caused the current forum complaining. He caved in to the demands of bandits because he doubted his own mechanics. He removed a mechanic instead of fixing it. People now have proof they can have things removed from the game if they complain enough. Bandits have moved on to asking that people who disconnect from game be punished, which Rocket has already tried to fix for them. Survivors are still a step behind though, they keep complaining about something he's repeatedly said he's put on the back burner for now. Just remember, he's already said he's keeping humanity and he's got a purpose for it, so just be patient. If you really want to get something changed, try actually reading his topics and posts, he's got at least 2 polls up that I've seen, one about an indicator for super low humanity, the other about starting off without a weapon, there may be more.

    Really?

Servers were down for less than 30 minutes, stop crying.
  18. YES The threat of violence from strangers is still there, only deathmatch players would be instantly identifiable threats.
  19. Kolchak (DayZ)

    To all you hacking faggots

Servers back up, permabans in place, back to your regularly scheduled program.
  20. Realism needs wisdom applied. Eating beans- Properly applied realism: right click on can, click on "eat food", you eat the food, blood goes up, hunger meter goes green. Improperly applied realism: Unzip pack, reach in pack, grab can with left hand, grab can opener with right hand, pull out can and can opener, attach can opener to can, grasp handle, turn handle, turn handle, turn handle, turn handle, ect, ect... The line between realism and tedium is razor thin, better to err against tedium than towards it.

    ALT-F4 or just plain DC'ing....cheating?

It's always funny to me to see bandits complaining about people DCing. These are the same people who constantly complained because "a player shouldn't be punished for playing the way they want to" and "Might makes right" Apparently Might makes right, until it's something they don't like, then it's cheating and should be banned. Hypocrisy makes for a stinky cologne.

    HO-LEE-CRAP. BEST FIND EVER

Bans have already been thrown around for even touching a hacked item, and I really doubt Rocket cares if he bans a few hundred players, especially when most of those hacked items are pretty obvious to anyone using them. Most of them don't have a picture on the inventory screen if it can fit in your pack.
  23. Bandit skins were Rocket's idea, he had some doubts about it, but he put it in. The vocal minority on the forums complained enough and used those doubts against him so he caved and instead of fixing it, he just removed it. Where this becomes a problem is that it existed for a major portion of the game. If it hadn't existed, the idea of bandits would be less prevalent, there wouldn't be such a stigma. People wearing the bandit skin are attributed the deaths, whether it was them or not. They became the boogeymen of this game, not even categorized as another player, they're categorized as a danger/something that can kill you. Removing the skins didn't help it, it was too late, all it did was diffuse that sense of imminent danger to every other player. Everyone became the boogey man. It would have been "This person could help me or try to kill me." instead of "This person could be a Bandit." That's a huge difference. In the first situation, there's trepidation both ways. It's a question, "do I help them or will they shoot at me?" in the second situation the outcome isn't a question, it's an action, they will try to kill you, so you have to kill them first.

    What's the point in trying?

You look at it all wrong. Now you're free man, no pressure, nothing to lose, do everything that goes against your instincts. Go running down the coast with a train of zombies on you and lead them to the first person you see. Run down the treeline of Cherno and Elektro and throw flares at all the crappy snipers trying to hide. Go find a good weapon and put it in someone's pack. Smash the doors of the hospital grab up all the blood bags and force transfusions on people, don't let them say no or run away, give it to them whether they like it or not!
